Playing “Catch Up”

butterfly_2013feb28

Can you believe it’s the last day of February? I sure can’t! So far, 2013 is flying by at warp speed for me! Today I’m showing you a few projects that I just got done with some goodies I’ve had for a while.

I picked up this sweet embossing folder several weeks ago and knew exactly what I wanted to do with it for it’s debut :) I made my
Sweet Tooth card stock base, then ran another piece of Sweet Tooth through my machine with the folder. After I trimmed it down and stamped the sentiment, from Inspired by Butterflies, I attached three Die-namics Butterflies die cuts with foam over the embossed butterflies. Before I did that, though, I glued on some clear jewels to each butterfly for some sparkle. I used Lemon Drop card stock, Sno Cone card stock, and Razzle Berry card stock for my butterflies. I love this card.

And here’s the inside with another sentiment from the set:

Due to the hand surgery I had in early January, I worked way ahead and got my MFT February release projects done before surgery. Consequently, I didn’t have all of the product in hand before I had to be finished. So, now I’m playing with a couple of adorable treat container Die-namics dies that I really wanted to use at least once!

First up is this darling Die-namics Cone Treat Box. Obviously, you can use it for anything cone-shaped but making a carrot from it was a no-brainer. I cut it out from patterned paper and then made the greenery with my Die-namics Loopy Bloom die. To do that, I cut it out normally and taped the two uncut edges together with Scor Tape. Then I went down the center and cut the loops in two and finished up by snipping each of the cut loops down to the base. Then I put another piece of Scor Tape (1/8”) down the base and rolled it up. I attached it to the closed top of the carrot with some hot glue. To finish it off, I cut a Die-namics Traditional Tags STAX, stamped the sentiment, from LJD Embellished Eggs, and added the chick, was cut from my Die-namics LJD Easter Elements. I added a black jewel eye to the chick and tied the tag on with baker’s twine. I used Sour Apple card stock, Sweet Tooth card stock, and Lemon Drop ink and Black Licorice ink from the MFT Boutique.

For my final project today I have a little Easter basket treat box. I started with the Die-namics Trapezoid Treat Box, then added the Die-namics Woven Basket elements to the front and back. To dress it up, I added some Die-namics Fresh Cut Grass strips and more cute elements from LJD Embellished Eggs and Die-namics LJD Easter Elements. I used Kraft card stock, Sweet Tooth card stock, Lemon Drop ink, Grape Jelly ink (stamped off once), and Sno Cone ink from the MFT Boutique.

And I think that’s it for today!! Thanks so much for stopping by!

You Make the World a Better Place–MFTWSC #113

MFTWSC113_2013feb27

Hi, everyone, it’s me, back again with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. You can find the sketch on the MFT blog and also in the MFT forum on SCS, as well as in the weekly newsletter. The Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

OK, so don’t everyone faint. I made a square card. Believe me, I tried and tried to make it an A2 but just couldn’t make it work with what I wanted to do.

Starting with a Steel Gray card stock base and following the sketch, I added patterned paper then centered a Die-namics Dainty Doily, cut from Whip Cream card stock. I added a layer of patterned paper to the center of the doily, made with my Die-namics Circle STAX, then stamped the sentiment from Die-namics Vertical Greetings Die & Stamp Set on a shortened die cut, then popped it up on foam. To finish it off, I added a Die-namics Medium Leafy Flourish and several Die-namics Rolled Scallop Flowers.

Here’s the inside with another sentiment from this set of uplifting and encouraging sentiments:

And that’s that! Hope to see you playing this week!

You’re the Toughest Girl I Know–CTD #231

CTD231_2013feb27

Hey, there, it’s Wednesday so that means it’s Color Throwdown time! This week, the amazing Broni has challenged us to a yummy color combo, based on her equally yummy inspiration piece:

swatch 231

As usual, I pawed through my patterned paper until I found something that would work ;-) This paper is from an OLD Basic Grey collection and it’s perfect! Or nearly so and that’s good enough!

First, I cut a Die-namics Dizzy Doily Duo from Whip Cream card stock. Next, I cut some Die-namics Fishtail Flags STAX strips from patterned paper and adhered them. I then cut a Die-namics Circle STAX die cut and stamped the sentiment, from DC Have Hope
. This set was intended for Breast Cancer Awareness but several of the sentiments can be used for anyone who is fighting for their lives, either physically or emotionally. And that’s what this card is for—a friend who is in a tough personal fight. I hope it gives her a bit of encouragement and lets her know I love her.

OK, enough sap, LOL! I stamped the sentiment with Kraft ink and popped the circle up on foam. Next, I added a Die-namics Medium Leafy Flourish and topped it with a Die-namics Upsy Daisy flower. For the flower center I used a Lemon Drop button tied with hemp cord. To finish off the card, I adhered a few Copic-colored gems.

Here’s the inside, with another sentiment from the set:

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD231 so we can see your beauty all in one place. Hope to see you there! Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week!
