Candy Cane Christmas–MFTWSC #148

MFTWSC148_2013oct30

Hi, everyone, I’m back again with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

One of the things I love about my Die-namics storage/organization is that I can see them all at one time. I have them all on magnetic sheets on the closet doors of my stamp room. While it’s working great now, though, in the not too distant future they will all be full and I’ll have to figure out some other system, LOL. For now it works and often that helps me think outside the box for uses for them. While glancing over them the other day, it occurred to me that the handle from Umbrella Die-namics might make a great candy cane. I’d already noticed that one of the images from Plaid Builder Background looked candy cane-ish so it was a no-brainer to put them together. So, I stamped up some paper with Red Hot ink on Sweet Tooth card stock and cut out two umbrella handles. One, of course had to be flipped to the “wrong” side, but that was no problem, then I trimmed the pointed end off and voila! Two candy canes!

I went all A2 with my card shape, using Sweet Tooth card stock and Red Hot card stock for my base. Then I cut a Oval Open Scallop Doily Duo Die-namics from Sweet Tooth card stock and popped it up on foam. I arranged the candy canes and added a couple of holly leaves cut from Christmas Ornaments Die-namics with Gumdrop Green card stock and added some red gems for the berries.

For the inside, I stamped a totally fitting sentiment from Sunny Day Doodles Sweet Christmas in Red Hot ink.

And that’s pretty much it! How do you “think outside the box” with your Die-namics dies?

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Poinsettia Joy–CTD #266

CTD266_2013oct30

Hey there, everyone, it’s time for another Color Throwdown Challenge! This week Lori is our host and she has picked a gorgeous color palette for us to work with.

swatch 266

I hadn’t had a chance to use the recently released Joy Photo Card Frame Die-namics die so I got it out for this card. I cut it from Wild Cherry card stock and popped it up on a Sweet Tooth card stock card base, then created a Poinsettia Die-namics flower using Pink Lemonade card stock, Kraft card stock, and Jellybean Green card stock. I adhered some light green gems to the center and adhered the poinsettia to the card base with hot glue.

On the inside, I stamped a sentiment from this month’s Free With $60 set, Cheerful Christmas Greetings in Wild Cherry ink.

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD266 so we can see your beauty all in one place. Hope to see you there! Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week

May Your Season Be Filled With Love and Laughter–C4C #209

C4C209_2013oct26

Hi, everyone, welcome to this week’s Crazy 4 Challenges! This week Silke Ledlow has a great challenge for us—use your very favorite stamp set! Actually, this was an extremely difficult challenge for me because I don’t have a favorite. I have lots of favorites but I can’t pick just one! Oh, and you definitely want to stop over at Silke Ledlow’s  blog—she’s got some awesome blog candy for her final challenge of the month :)

I did use several of my favorites on this card, though. Christmas is my favorite time of year, so I’m using Clearly Sentimental About Christmas for my sentiment. For my little flags, cut with First Place Award Ribbon Die-namics dies and stamped with Electric Red ink and Timber Green ink, I used Washi Patterns, More Washi Patterns, LLD Mod Borders, and LJD Spring Backgrounds.

My card base is made with Kraft card stock and my panel and flags were made using Primitive Cream card stock. Using Electric Red card stock, I cut out a Winter Rose Die-namics and finished off with Royal Leaves Die-namics cut from Timber Green card stock.

The inside has another sentiment from Clearly Sentimental About Christmas.

And that's it! Be sure to check out what the rest of the design team has for you!

THEN, you know what to do--we'd love to have you come along and play with us. Just do your thing with the challenge and link it to Mr. Linky on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Please link directly to your project. And, if you upload to a public gallery, please use the key word C4C209.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Merry & Bright–MFTWSC #147

MFTWSC147_2013oct23

Hi, everyone, I’m back again with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

I went super CAS with this card. I started with a Sweet Tooth card stock base. I cut the Winter Wreath Die-namics out of silver metallic card stock twice and layered it on the card base. I cut the bow from Wild Cherry card stock and popped it up on foam, then added red sequins for the berries. The sentiment is from DC Ornament Banner Builder and was stamped with Wild Cherry ink and popped up on foam, as well.

The inside has another sentiment from the set.

And that’s all there is to it! Very simple in design and execution and I love how it turned out. Thanks so much for stopping by today!
