Hey, there! It’s Wednesday noon so it must be time for this week’s MFTWSC! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

I recently took the Online Card Class on creative use of stencils and learned some pretty cool things so I thought I’d show you one of them today.

I started with a Sweet Tooth card stock base, then embossed a piece of Sweet Tooth card stock with MPD Petal Pattern Stencil. I left the stencil on the card stock and proceeded to sponge some purple, green, and blue Distress Inks randomly through the stencil openings. I get the best sponging results with Distress Inks so that’s why I used them for this technique. After I had it like I wanted, I trimmed it to size and sponged the edges with green to ground everything. I popped that up on foam and continued with my card design.

Following the sketch, I added a Pierced Oval STAX Die-namics, a Scallop Ribbon Border Die-namics, and stamped the sentiment on an extended Fishtail Flags STAX Die-namics die cut. The sentiment is from LJD Forget Me Not, stamped with Steel Gray ink. I then made my flowers using LJD Forget Me Not stamp set and LJD Forget Me Not Die-namics. I popped them up on foam, added some enamel dots, and it was done.

Another sentiment from LJD Forget Me Not was stamped on the inside.

  1. LOVE that variegated sponged BG! I need to try using distress inks for that instead of having them collect dust in a drawer.
