MFT May Creative Challenge—Masculine Cards

creativechallenge1_2014may27

Hi, everyone! And welcome to
MFT’s April Creative Challenge! The MFT Design Team Creative Challenge is a monthly feature where we are challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product, or technique. This month, with Father’s Day nearing, we’re challenged to come up with some masculine designs!  Look forward to an assortment of creations from today's participating designers as we create projects with the males in our lives in mind.  Be sure to check out the MFT Blog for a list of all the designers who have a project to share with you today.

I’ve been wanting to use the suit part of Suit and Tie Die-namics and finally got around to it! How awesome is that set? A great suit and a great man-card product. I started with a Sweet Tooth card stock base that also served as the shirt front. I added the placket and the collars, then stamped a plaid design on the bow tie with Pinstripe Background using Nightshift Blue ink and Lemon Drop ink. Next, I cut the suit from Nightshift Blue card stock and stamped it with Nightshift Blue ink and Pinstripe Background and assembled the pieces. I wanted shiny buttons so I covered them lightly with Glossy Accents and “sewed” them on with heavy thread. The boutonniere was made with a tiny flower and leaves from Trellis and Vine Die-namics, with a tiny pearl for the center. Tiny pearls also were used for the shirt buttons.

A sentiment from Clearly Sentimental About Fathers was stamped on the inside with Nightshift Blue ink.

My second card uses Tool Time Die-namics and Let’s Tool Around for a masculine thank you card.

This card started with a Kraft card stock base. Then I added a layer of Primitive White card stock, the top portion of which was stamped with Wood Plank Background and Steel Gray ink. The I stamped the sentiment, from Let’s Tool Around also with Steel Gray ink and tied around some twill tape, anchored it with a Tangy Orange button and hemp cord, and popped it up on foam. I cut the hammer from Tool Time Die-namics from metallic silver card stock and added the Tangy Orange handle. Once it was popped up on foam it was done.

Another sentiment from Let’s Tool Around was stamped on the inside with Steel Gray ink.

  4. It's so hard to do masculine. You have "nailed" these!! They are simply done for the guys yet have so many special touches.
