Butterfly Wishes–MFTWSC #174

MFTWSC174_2014apr30

Hey, there! It’s Wednesday noon so it must be time for this week’s
MFTWSC! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

I found this to be a very interesting sketch and I decided to make a shaker card out of that square instead of making it a layer.

I started with a Sweet Tooth card stock base, then cut the square opening from another piece of Sweet Tooth card stock. I embossed it with Chevron Cover-Up Die-namics and trimmed it down, then added my clear acetate window with a piece of Berrylicious card stock for the back. I filled it with sequins to match my chosen color combo and popped it up on the card base with foam tape.

Then I made a double tailed Fishtail Flags STAX Die-namics element, cut from Black Licorice card stock and adhered that. Next I cut three butterflies using MPD Winged Beauties Die-namics and stamped them with the coordinating image from MPD Winged Beauties with Lemon Drop Hybrid ink, Razzle Berry Hybrid ink, and Orange Fizz Hybrid ink. I popped them up on foam on the black strip. The sentiment, also from the set, was stamped on a piece of Sweet Tooth card stock with Black Licorice Hybrid ink and also popped up on foam.

Another sentiment from the set was stamped on the inside.

Thinking of You–CTD #290

CTD290_2014apr30

Happy Wednesday! It’s time for another Color Throwdown challenge! Today Tammy has a fabulous color combo for us based on her awesome inspiration photo.

I decided to go all graphic with my card today. I started with a Sweet Tooth card stock base, then cut Triangle Screen Die-namics from another piece of Sweet Tooth card stock. I used the cut outs and stamped some images from Washi Patterns and More Washi Patterns with Banana Split ink, Berrylicious ink, and SU! Cameo Coral. I also cut some Banana Split card stock, Berrylicious card stock, and Cameo Coral card stock with the die to get some solid triangles.

Next I adhered the Triangle Screen Die-namics to my card base and started popping in my little triangles randomly until I was happy, then I adhered them. I stamped the sentiment, from MPD Winged Beauties, on a strip of Sweet Tooth card stock with Black Licorice Hybrid ink and popped it up on foam. To finish it off, I added some coordinating enamel dots.

Another sentiment from the set was stamped on the inside.

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the
Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD290 so we can see your beauty all in one place. Hope to see you there! Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week!

And speaking of the design team, it is with much sadness that we say good bye to Melody. This will be her last post and we will miss her gorgeous layouts as, I’m sure, will you. Be sure to stop by her blog and leave her some love.

Button Up–Catered Crop Recipe Challenge

buttonup_2014apr29

Hey, everyone! I’m back today with the latest Catered Crop Recipe Swap, which is “Button Up”. I decided to go CAS with this design and let the buttons shine.

I could have use *real* buttons but that’s not how I roll ;-) Instead, I stamped up some Sweet Tooth card stock with these stamp sets from MFT: LJD Spring Backgrounds, LJD Darling Dots, Washi Patterns, More Washi Patterns, and LLD Mod Borders. I used a rainbow color palette using these new MFT Hybrid inks: Red Hot Hybrid ink, Orange Fizz Hybrid ink, Lemon Drop Hybrid ink, Sour Apple Hybrid ink, Blu Raspberry Hybrid ink, Grape Jelly Hybrid ink.

I stamped the sentiment, from Clearly Sentimental About Art, at the bottom of a Sweet Tooth card stock card base with Black Licorice Hybrid ink, then added a strip of more Sweet Tooth card stock stamped with Striped Backgrounds and, again, Black Licorice Hybrid ink, to another Sweet Tooth card stock panel and popped that up on foam.

After I stamped up all my papers, I cut it out with Button Border Die-namics and tied the centers with some black hemp twine.
Then I arranged them sort of randomly, but in a rainbow pattern and stuck them down with hot glue on the card front.

On the inside, I stamped another sentiment from Clearly Sentimental About Art.

And that’s pretty much that! We hope you’ll take the challenge and show us what you can do with a button or two…or three, or four…or however many you want to use :)

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
