Thank You for Your Hospitality–C4C #314

C4C314_2015nov28

Hi, everyone, it’s time for another Crazy 4 Challenges! This week Joanne is challenging us to make a square card or at least use square elements on our cards or projects.

I might have mentioned I’m not a fan of square cards, but this new Diagonal Quilt Square Cover-Up from MFT makes it easy! I needed a thank you card so I thought the homespun quilt design would be perfect.

I started with a Primitive Cream card stock base, then created my quilt square with Kraft card stock, Primitive Cream card stock, Cactus card stock, and Berrylicious card stock and popped the finished square up on foam mounting tape on the base. Next I stamped part of a sentiment from BB Polynesian Paradise with Versamark on Black Licorice card stock cut with Blueprints 20 Die-namics.

I heat embossed it with cream colored embossing powder and popped it up on foam with some curled up hemp cord under it. To complete the sentiment, I stamped a couple of words using Label Maker Sentiments and Label Tape Die-namics on Primitive Cream card stock with Black Licorice dye ink and popped them up on the flag element. I finished off with some enamel dots.

And that's it! Be sure to check out what the rest of the design team has for you, including our November Guest Designer, Karen Dunbrook!

THEN, you know what to do--we'd love to have you come along and play with us. Just do your thing with the challenge and link it to Mr. Linky on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Please link directly to your project. And, if you upload to a public gallery, please use the key word C4C314.

Thanks for stopping by today—see you soon!

I started with a Stone Gray card stock base, then added a Sweet Tooth card stock layer, popped up on foam mounting tape. Next I added a strip of After Midnight card stock stamped with Versamark and Bold Diagonal Stripes Background, then heat embossed with white detail embossing powder. Next I cut Sweet Tooth card stock with Traditional Tags STAX Die-namics, stamped the sentiment from Hand Lettered Holiday with After Midnight dye ink, added some baker’s twine, and popped it up.

The sweet poinsettias are from Winter Warmth and Winter Warmth Die-namics, stamped with Tickled Pink dye ink, the centers with Cement Gray dye ink, and the leaves with Field Day dye ink. They were adhered to the tag and finished off with some Pretty Pink Posh sequins for the centers.

And that’s it! Thanks for stopping by—see you soon!

Herd You Had a Birthday–MFTWSC #256

MFTWSC256_2015nov26

Hi, everyone, I’m back again with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Challenge & Inspiration Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

I flipped the sketch and used Snow Drifts Cover-Up Die-namics as the repetitive element for my card. I started with a Grout Gray card stock base, cut Snow Drifts Cover-Up Die-namics from Sweet Tooth card stock and Ranger watercolor paper on which I’d done a watercolor wash with Peerless Watercolor, then replaced the cut outs and popped it up on foam mounting tape on the base. I’ve had this idea for a herd of deer to use with this sentiment from BB The Whole Herd for a while and I thought it would be perfect for this design. The snowman cheering the recipient on is just adorable, isn’t he?

I cut a whole herd of deer from Winter Wonderland Die-namics, along with some trees and the snowman, stamped them with the coordinating images from Winter Wonderland, and colored them with Zig Clean Color Brush Markers and arranged everything, some adhered down and some popped up for dimension. The sentiment was stamped on Black Licorice card stock with Versamark, heat embossed with white detail embossing powder, and also popped up on foam.

And that’s it from me for today—thanks so much for stopping by! See you soon!
