Wishing You Tons of Fun–CTD #374

CTD374_2016jan6

Hi, everyone and welcome to the first Color Throwdown Challenge of 2016! I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and that your New Year is off to a fantastic start! We at the Color Throwdown Challenge have some new things to share with you today—some design team changes and a fresh new blog look that we’re pretty proud of so I hope you’ll check it all out and play along.

Speaking of design team changes, I’d like to take this opportunity to say a sad goodbye to Tammy Hershberger and a joyful welcome to Lynn Put and Lisa Henke. Tammy is a founding member of the challenge and was a major driving force in the behind-the-scenes workings—she will be sorely missed, but we understand that she has other demands on her time and needs to step down. Lynn is returning to the CTD and Lisa is a previous Guest Designer—we are over the moon delighted to have them joining the team and know you will join us in a hearty welcome to them!

OK, let’s get on with this week’s challenge! Broni is our host today and here are her colors, based on her inspiration piece.

My card started with a Sweet Tooth card stock base. Then I added another layer of Sweet Tooth card stock on which I stamped Circle Scribbles Background with Black Licorice dye ink. I popped that up on foam mounting tape after adding a strip of Farm Fresh Gingham Paper Pack and a narrow strip of black Licorice card stock. Next I cut Ranger Watercolor paper with Wonky Stitched Circle STAX Die-namics, did a watercolor wash with Peerless Watercolors, and popped it up on foam before beginning my scene. For it I used BB Adorable Elephants and BB Adorable Elephants Die-namics, stamped with Black Licorice hybrid ink and colored with Zig Clean Color Brush Markers.

I added Puffy Clouds Die-namics and the sentiment was stamped on Black Licorice card stock cut with Blueprints 20 Die-namics, stamped with Versamark, and heat embossed with white detail embossing powder. A strip of Calm and Cozy Chevron Paper Pack was added under the sentiment strip for balance and a few enamel dots finish it off.

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD374 so we can see your beauty all in one place, and use #ctd374 and #colorthrowdown on social media. Hope to see you there! Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week, including our incredibly talented January Guest Designer, Amy Rysavy!
