Cactus Sunset–MFT Color Challenge #53

MFTCPC53_2016sep9

Hi, all, I'm back with this week's MFT Color Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s color combo: Kraft, Coral Crush, Cactus, and Gravel Gray. All of the details about the color challenge are available on the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

I thought this color combo had a Southwestern feel about it so that’s the direction in which I went. I started with a Sweet Tooth card stock base and added a strip of Free Spirit Paper Pack across the bottom. I think this pattern supports the theme, don’t you? Then, on some Smooth White card stock (Tip: Smooth White card stock is, well, it’s SMOOTH, so sponging and blending is so much easier than on regular card stock.), I sponged my desert floor with Kraft dye ink and a sunset with Coral Crush dye ink, tied around some baker’s twine in a Gravel Gray match, stamped the sentiment from LLD Sweet Succulents in Gravel Gray hybrid ink, and popped it up on foam mounting tape.

Then I stamped the cactus from Llama Love on Ranger Watercolor Paper with Gravel Gray hybrid ink and cut them out with Llama Love Die-namics. I colored with Cactus dye ink by smooshing the pad on my craft sheet and using a waterbrush. After they dried I popped them up on foam, added some enamel dots, and it was done!

Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the
MFT Challenge Blog. You have the chance to win a $20 in MFT voucher. One winner is chosen at random each week!

That’s it for today! Thanks so much for stopping by! See you soon!

  1. Before I even read your details I thought what a perfect match the paper was for the cactus stamps. It's a lovely card.
