Welcome To the Neighborhood–C4C #179

C4C179_2013mar30

Happy Saturday! Since it *is* Saturday, it’s time for Crazy 4 Challenges! Today Frances wants us to add a twist to our cards—in the form of a twisted card design.

My girl
Frances LOVES all those fancy fold cards. Me? Not so much, LOL! I thought maybe there might be some others of you out there in the same boat and didn’t want you to NOT play because of it. So, I’m offering a way to “twist” without doing the twisted cards ;-) Be creative! Think outside the box! You could twist some ribbon, for example. My “twist” is Lime Twist patterned paper. I still have part of a pad and used it for my card. See??? Easy peasy!

I made this card for a good friend who is moving, not into my immediate neighborhood, but MUCH closer than she was before. To me, she’s in my neighborhood and I couldn’t be happier to have her closer. Using my Lime Twist paper and DC Homespun Birdhouse and Die-namics Homespun Birdhouse Die Only, I created a little scene. First, I cut out my  Die-namics Branch With Leaves and adhered that. The leaves extend over the edges of the card, but I’ll be hand delivering this card so that won’t matter :) Then I created my birdhouse and “hung” it from the branch. I cut a bird and perched him up on the branch, then stamped the sentiment on a Die-namics Ticket Tab and slipped the edge of it up under the top pattern of paper.

For the inside, I stamped another sentiment from the set and was done!

And that's it! Be sure to check out what the rest of the design team has for you!

THEN, you know what to do--we'd love to have you come along and play with us. Just do your thing with the challenge and link it to Mr. Linky on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Please link directly to your project. And, if you upload to a public gallery, please use the key word C4C179.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Have a Great Day–MFTWSC #117

MFTWSC117_2013mar27

Hi, everyone, I’m back again with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. You can find the sketch on the MFT blog and also in the MFT forum on SCS, as well as in the weekly newsletter. The Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

MFTWSC117

I went A2 with this sketch, naturally ;-) And, I’m back with more flowers using LJD Embellished Eggs and Die-namics LJD Easter Elements (told ya!). I started with a Black Licorice card stock base, added a Sno Cone card stock layer, and ended up with a Sweet Tooth card stock front. I found some more washi tape that I liked, which actually was my inspiration for my color combo, so I added a couple of pieces of that and stamped my sentiment, from All Smiles, with Black Licorice ink.

I cut some flowers and stamped them with
Sno Cone ink and Lemon Drop ink and added a Black Licorice button to the center of the large flowers. The center of the smaller flowers are black sequins. I layered on a Die-namics Dizzy Doily Duo die cut, then arranged the flowers on it. I finished it off with more black sequins.

I added more washi tape and another sentiment from the set to the inside.

You Are In My Thoughts–CTD #235

CTD235_2013mar27

Hey, there
Color Throwdown fans! It’s time for another challenge and this week the awesomely talented Denise has a YUMMY color palette for us to work play with. OMGoodness, I could dig into that, couldn’t you!?

swatch 235

OK, now that I’ve stopping drooling on my keyboard, let me get on with my card ;-) I will confess I was a little intimidated by these colors until I decided to go more CAS than not.

I’m using a Primrose Petals card base, with a trimmed down Sweet Tooth card stock layer on the front. I stamped a row of hounds tooth in Primrose Petals ink using LJD Spring Backgrounds, then added a Die-namics Leaf-Filled Flourish cut from Hot Fudge card stock and stamped the sentiment, from Clearly Sentimental About Sympathy in Memento Rich Cocoa. I added a Die-namics Royal Rose and a couple of Die-namics Mini Royal Roses, using Primrose Petals and Raspberry Ripple card stock. I finished it up with some sweet little sequins for accent and ended up very happy with this card.

I stamped another sentiment from the set on the inside:

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD235 so we can see your beauty all in one place. Hope to see you there! Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week.

MFT March Creative Challenge–Color Combos with MFT Ink, Cardstock, and Replenishments

creativechallengeboth_2013mar26

Hi, everyone, and welcome to the March MFT Design Team Creative Challenge!

The MFT Design Team Creative Challenge is a monthly feature, where we are challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product, or technique.

This month, we are highlighting our favorite color combinations using MFT Ink, cardstock, buttons, ribbon, and felt.

Be sure to check out the MFT Blog for a list of all participating designers who have a project to share with you today.

In a way, this was a hard challenge—there are SO many gorgeous color combos possible with MFT  Replenishments that it’s almost impossible to pick a favorite. I am a huge fan of pink and flowers, so my color combo is geared towards that. I’m using Pink Lemonade, Razzle Berry, Lemon Drop, and Sour Apple, along with Sweet Tooth and Black Licorice for my neutrals.

I made two cards for today’s challenge, both with flowers, but each very different in style. My first card uses my
Die-namics Upsy Daisy dies to make my flowers…

…from Pink Lemonade card stock, Razzle Berry card stock, and Lemon Drop card stock, and the leaves were done with Sour Apple card stock. I added some flat back pearls for the centers.

The sentiment is from Big Greetings and was stamped on a Die-namics First Place Award Ribbon flag with Black Licorice ink and popped up off-center, on foam. The dotted lines on either side of it are from DC Tag, You’re It. The image has three dotted lines, but I only inked up the ones on the outside and my sentiment strip fit perfectly between them. The rest of the sentiment is from DC Framed Greetings

…as is the sentiment on the inside of the card.

For my second card, I wanted to get inky! I am in LOVE with the sweet flowers in LJD Embellished Eggs! Embellished Eggs flowers—NOT just for Easter :) I’m thinking you’ll be seeing these many more times from me in the future.

After I made my card front from Sweet Tooth card stock with a Sour Apple card stock layer, I ran a strip of Razzle Berry grosgrain ribbon around and adhered it to the back, then adhered it all to my Sweet Tooth card stock base.

I cut out a bunch of flowers from Sweet Tooth card stock in both sizes, then started stamping with
Pink Lemonade ink and Razzle Berry ink. I used a Lemon Drop button for the centers of the larger flowers and stamped the smaller centers with Lemon Drop ink. I cut the leaves, again from Sour Apple card stock and also again, from Die-namics Upsy Daisy.

I cut a frame from
Die-namics Designer Labels 3 STAX and cut a window out with Die-namics Rectangle STAX. Then I cut another Labels 3 STAX and trimmed it down evenly all around about 1/8” and stamped my sentiment, from this month’s Triple Scoop set, Birthday Sentiments with Black Licorice ink. I popped this up behind the original Labels 3 STAX die cut with foam and adhered it to the card front.

To finish this card, I stamped another sentiment from Birthday Sentiments with Black Licorice ink.

And there you have it! One of my favorite color combos from My Favorite Things: Pink Lemonade, Razzle Berry, Lemon Drop, and Sour Apple, with Sweet Tooth and Black Licorice for neutrals.
