Butterfly Wishes–SSSC #225

SSSC225_2014jun29

Hi, everyone, it’s Sunday so it’s Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge time. This one really was a challenge for me, so I took a little artistic liberty, but I think you can see the sketch in my card.

My card started with a Grout Gray card stock base, then I layered on a Modern Morocco Die-namics layer cut from Sweet Tooth card stock. I got out my Peek-a-Boo Trio Die-namics that was feeling quite unloved and cut some Steel Gray card stock, popping it up on foam. Next I cut some MPD Winged Beauties Die-namics and stamped the coordinating butterflies from MPD Winged Beauties in Lemon Drop ink, Razzle Berry ink, and Orange Fizz ink and popped them up inside the Peek-a-Boo Trio Die-namics openings. The sentiment, from the same set, was stamped on a Mix & Match Banners Die-namics, cut from Sweet Tooth card stock with Steel Gray ink and slipped under the edge of the frame.

Another sentiment from MPD Winged Beauties was stamped on the inside, also with Steel Gray ink.

You Keep Me Anchored–C4C #242

C4C242_2014jun28

Hey, everyone, it’s Crazy 4 Challenges time! Today Peggy is challenging us to make a card or project that reflects the season in your particular part of the world, for example, in the Northern Hemisphere Summer is here, in the Southern, it’s Winter time.

Well, it’s sure Summer here, so I used a nautical theme since in these parts we like the beach and boating :)

My card started with a Berrylicious card stock base, then I trimmed down a piece of Sweet Tooth card stock and stenciled on some embossing paste with MPD Fishnet Stencil. Then I stamped the sentiment, from Go Overboard, with Black Licorice ink and, with cotton yarn, tied a sailor’s knot around it. Next I cut a Fishtail Flags STAX Die-namics from some paper in my stash, Black Licorice ink on Sweet Tooth card stock with Striped Backgrounds. Then I cut an anchor with Let’s Get Nautical Die-namics from Grout Gray card stock, distressed it with Vintage Photo Distress Ink, and popped it up on foam. I finished up with some enamel dots.

Another sentiment from Go Overboard was stamped on the inside with Black Licorice ink.

Hello–MFTWSC #182

MFTWSC182_2014jun25

Hey, there! It’s Wednesday noon so it must be time for this week’s
MFTWSC! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

MFTWSC182

I decided to flip the sketch this week. I started with a Kraft card stock base, then added a layer of Sweet Tooth card stock embossed with Modern Morocco Die-namics. Then I added a strip of Sour Apple card stock stamped with Grid Background in Steel Gray ink. Next, I added the flags, cut from Steel Gray card stock with Fishtail Flags STAX Die-namics. I’m using LJD Peaceful Wildflowers for my focal point. I cut LJD Wildflowers Die-namics from Sweet Tooth card stock and stamped with Sour Apple ink, Sno Cone ink, Banana Split ink, Pink Lemonade ink, Grapesicle ink, and Insulation Pink ink. I tied all the flowers together with hemp cord and popped them up on a Pierced Rectangle STAX Die-namics die cut, also popped up on foam. The sentiment, from the same set, was stamped on Steel Gray card stock with Sweet Tooth pigment ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder, then popped up on foam. I finished off with a few clear gems.

Another sentiment from LJD Peaceful Wildflowers was stamped on the inside with Steel Gray ink.
