Feel Better–MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #374

MFTWSC374_2018feb28

Hi, everyone, I’m back with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

MFT_WSC_374

I went really CAS with this card using Feel Better Stamp Set and Die-namics. I used Watercolor Wash Brights Paper Pack on the card base and behind the soup bowl and paper pieced the bowl with Subtle Prints Paper Pack.

MFTWSC374_2018feb28b

I framed the bowl using Stitched Rectangle Scallop Edge Frames Die-namics and placed Oval Shadows Die-namics cut from Gravel Gray card stock. The frame and bowl were popped up on foam for dimension and the spoon was cut from Brushed Silver card stock. The steam was stamped with Gravel Gray dye ink and the sentiment with Black Licorice dye ink. To finish off I added some Swimming Pool, Limeade, and Ladybug Sprinkles.

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the MFT Challenge Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. One winner is chosen at random each week!

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!

You Lift My Spirits–Color Throwdown Challenge #482

CTD482_2018feb28

Hello and welcome to a brand new Color Throwdown Challenge! I’m the hostess this week and I’ve chosen some soft colors based on my dreamy inspiration piece.

swatch482

I’m using In Paris Stamp Set and Die-namics again—love this set so much! First of all I stamped the Eiffel Tower with Kraft hybrid ink on Ranger Watercolor paper then did a gray wash with some Kraft to ground it. Then I stamped and watercolored the balloons and adhered them and some Puffy Clouds Die-namics with foam tape.

CTD482_2018feb28b

The sentiment was heat embossed on Gravel Gray card stock cut with Tag builder Blueprints 5 Die-namics which I embellished with seam binding and baker’s twine before popping it up on foam tape for the finish.

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD482 so we can see your beauty all in one place, and use #ctd482 and #colorthrowdown on social media. Hope to see you there! Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week, including our incredibly talented Guest Designer, Claire Apostoloff!

MFT February Hits & Highlights–Sentiment Round Up

hitsandhighlights_2018feb27

Finding a way to integrate a greeting and design element into one fabulous card element is easy-as-pie with our collection of word circle frames. These frames can be used as a simple layering component, or combined with our Circle Shaker Pouches for extra fun!

Print

Circle Frame Die-namics really are a versatile element to have at your disposal. For my card today I’ve chosen to use one as a simple frame for a small scene with Splendid Swans Stamp Set and Die-namics as the focal point. I applied a watercolor wash for the background, cut my Congratulations Circle Frame Die-namics from Brushed Gold card stock, and adhered it directly to the card front.

hitsandhighlights_2018feb27b

Then I stamped, die cut, and colored my images with Copics and popped them inside the circle on foam tape. The sentiment was heat embossed on Black Licorice card stock and also popped up on foam for the finish.

And that’s it from me for
this month’s MFT Hit’s and Highlights Challenge! Thanks so much for stopping by today! See you soon!

Let’s Chill–MFT Color Challenge #88

MFTCPC88_2018feb22

Hi, all, I'm back with the latest MFT Color Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s color combo: Tickled pink, Wild Cherry, Summer Splash, and Black Licorice. All of the details about the color challenge are available on the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

I wasn’t sure what to do with these colors so I just started flipping though my stamps to see if anything clicked. I thought BB Penguins in Paradise might do the trick so I got them out and started brainstorming. The penguin had the black covered and I figured a tropical drink and flower, along with a sea or sky would cover all bases :)

I did a watercolor wash for background of Jumbo Peek-a-Boo Windows Die-namics and popped it up on a card base with some strips of Black & White Basics patterned paper.

MFTCPC88_2018feb22b

The other colors were brought in by coloring the drink and some patterned paper strips cut with Stitched Fishtail Sentiment Strips. The sentiment was heat embossed and dimension was achieved with foam tape.

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the MFT Challenge Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. One winner is chosen at random each week!

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!

All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. I substituted Single Stitch Line Tag-Corner Square Frames Die-namics cut from Cherry Wood Adhesive Backed sheet for the focal circle on my card and popped it up on foam on a card front stamped with Honeycomb Background and heat embossed with pewter embossing powder. I added some strips of Black & White Basics Paper Pack to each side and a watercolor wash to the background.

Celebrate You–Color Throwdown Challenge #481

CTD481_2018feb21

Hello and welcome to a new Color Throwdown Challenge! This weeks subdued palette is brought to us by Amy Rysavy, based on her gorgeous inspiration piece—I love the industrial look of this room!

swatch481

I began by covering my card base with patterned paper from Bundles of Blossoms Brights Paper Pack, then built a shaker element using Celebrate Speech Bubble Die-namics cut from Primitive White Card Stock, using Heat Resistant Acetate for the window, foam tape for the barrier, and more Primitive White Card Stock for the back.

CTD481_2018feb21b

Once that was adhered to the card base, I added a sentiment from All About You Stamp Set, heat embossed with gold detail embossing powder on Chocolate Brown Card stock and some balloons from Party Animals Stamp Set and Die-namics. The two purple were colored with Copics and for the other I used gold watercolor.

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. Stitched with Love - Saint Patrick's Day

StitchedwithloveStPats_2018feb20

You don’t need to be Irish to wear a bit o’ the green and take part in the fun tradition of Saint Patrick’s Day. If you have a sneaky leprechaun that likes to surprise people with little treats for this holiday, a hand-crafted card or tag provides a great finishing touch. We’re having a lot of fun conceiving new pattern ideas to use with our Cross-Stitch Tag Die-namics and the prospect of rainbows and four-leaf clovers was too good to pass up! Our team, as always, is on-board as well and they have plenty of inspiration to share with our newest cross-stitch pattern collection…good luck resisting this colorful quartet of designs!

What fun designs these cross-stitch patterns are! I made tags but they would work so well as the focal point of a card, too. I used DMC embroidery floss because I have a TON of it from my cross-stitchin’ days. For the shamrock I used #911

floss911

StitchedwithloveStPats_2018feb20c

And for the top hat I used #909, #3322, and #310

floss909  floss3822  floss310

StitchedwithloveStPats_2018feb20b

They were both stitched on Smooth White Card Stock, the tops were covered with Fresh Squeeze Chevron Paper Pack, the grommet was cut from Black Licorice card stock, and finished off with some tiny gingham check ribbon and solid baker’s twine. The back was covered (if you’re like me the back side of your cross-stitch is pretty messy ;-)) with Sweet Tooth card stock.

And that’s it! Thanks so much for stopping by today! See you soon!

Let’s Celebrate–MFT February Birthday Project Challenge—Up, Up and Away!

birthdayproject_2018feb15

Welcome to the February MFT Birthday Project Challenge! Few things say “birthday” like a beautiful bouquet of balloons. For this month’s challenge, focus on a single bobbing balloon or cover your card in copious amounts of colorful images or die cuts.

Print

Why do one balloon when you can fill your card front with them, right? That’s easy to do with Big Balloons Stencil. To begin, I stamped Balloon Strings Background on a Sweet Tooth card stock base with Cement Gray dye ink. I wanted the strings to be really subtle and this color ink worked perfectly. Next i stenciled balloons all over using bright colors (listed below).

birthdayproject_2018feb15b

Next I stamped the sentiment from Handwritten Happiness with Extreme Black hybrid ink and added a bunch of stars cut from Silver Sparkle card stock—some popped up on foam tape.

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the
MFT Challenge Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. One winner is chosen at random each week!

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!
