I Hope Your Birthday Is Full of Sunshine–MFT June Release Countdown, Day Five

Hello and welcome to Day Five of MFT’s June Release Countdown! I’m sorry, did I just type JUNE????? Seriously???? Boy, is it just me or is this year is flying! ? One thing that definitely makes time fly is having fun playing with MFT products and this month is no different. Release is on June 5th at 9pm; be sure to stop by the MFT Blog for all the details. I just love this Sunshine Shaker Die-namics!!! So many things you could do with it but today I just wanted to make the sun shine! I started by covering a Sweet Tooth card stock panel with clouds using Mini Cloud Edges Stencil, Blue Breeze Dye Ink, and a sponge dauber. Then I cut the Sunshine Shaker die out, reserving the “rays”. I cut it again from Sunshine, Daffodil, and Pineapple card stocks and then replaced the “ray’s with the cloud background.



Before I created my shaker element, I stamped the sentiment from Full of Sunshine Stamp Set. The shaker element has three yellow sequins in two sizes, Marshmallow Seed Beads, and yellow Prills. To close up the back I used the Sunshine center and adhered it to a Sweet Tooth card stock base. Next I used all three yellows and popped up the “rays”, alternating shades of yellow for some interest and contrast. I finished off with a couple of Puffy Clouds Die-namics and some Bumblebee Sprinkles.

Celebrate Your Day–MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #387

Hi, everyone, I’m back with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. I just couldn’t wrap my brain around this one so I did what I always do when that happens and just start looking through stamps and dies to see if something clicks. Celebrate Speech Bubble Die-namics seemed like just the ticket with it’s three rows of open letters so I went with it.



First I cover my card base with Black & White Striped Patterned Pape, created my shaker element (filler listed below), closed it up and adhered it to the card front. I added a partial sentiment from Yay for You Stamp Set which was heat embossed on Black Licorice card stock to the bottom and finished off with some Sprinkles in matching colors.

Thank You–Color Throwdown Challenge #495

Hello everyone! It’s time for a brand new Color Throwdown Challenge! This week Jodi has challenged us to use these rich colors on our projects base on this gorgeous inspiration piece.




With these rick colors I decided to go simple with my design. On a Sweet Tooth card stock base, I popped up Striped Sentiment Strip Cover-Up Die-namics, cut from Blueberry card stock with a sentiment from You Give Me Butterflies Stamp Set heat embossed in gold.



I cut two copies of Roses in Bloom Die-namics from Paver Red card stock and Gold Shine card stock and also popped them up on foam. To finish off I added some Gold Sprinkles and called it done!

MFT Hits & Highlights—Magical May

There’s something magical about May…the transition from spring into summer and the explosion of color…seems like the perfect time to bring some magic into our crafting as well. We’ve opened it up to our team this month, challenging them to feature magical creatures or, simply integrate the colors those magical creatures conjure in our imaginations. My ability to predict the future isn’t magical but I *do* predict lots of mermaids and unicorns in the very near future!





I can’t think of anything more magical than unicorns, and since it’s been a while since I showed my BB Magical Unicorns Stamp Set and Die-namics some love, I got them out for this card. The images were stamped on No Line Coloring Card Stock and colored with Copic markers. I love this stuff for regular stamped images in addition to no line coloring. It’s not as “blue/purple white” as X-Press It Blending Card plus it’s heavier (more usable for card fronts for me) and it colors beautifully. One caution: black ink *might* smudge a little when you start with the Copics so if you do use this be sure to heat set it first if you’re concerned about that. I’ve found it happens rarely but it has happened, thus the caution. 



The background was created with Mini Cloud Edges Stencil, Blue Breeze Premium Dye Ink, and a sponge dauber. I added End of the Rainbow Die-namics, Sunny Skies Die-namics, and Stitched Cloud Edges on which I stamped the sentiment. Foam tape was used for dimension. Tip: if you don’t want to waste a lot of card stock cutting the rainbow in different colors, simply cut it all from white card stock and color each section with a Copic marker!

Thanks for All You Do–MFT Color Challenge #94

Hi, all, I'm back with the latest MFT Color Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s color combo: Sno Cone, Summer Splash, Peach Bellini, and Lemon Chiffon. Love these pastel colors!! I thought they would look great with a bit of black as an accent so I decided to use Birthday Speech Bubble Die-namics to cut the colors out and stamped on them with black.

First I did a watercolor wash for the Sno Cone element on Ranger Watercolor Paper and splattered some black watercolor from my Kuretake Gansai watercolors. While that was drying, I cut the speech bubbles and stamped the sentiments, top to bottom, from Boss Babe Stamp Set, a partial from BB Cool Cat, and another partial from LLD Perk Up. The rest of the sentiment is from Gift Card Greetings Stamp Set and was heat embossed on Black Licorice card stock.



Then I arranged the speech bubbles, popped them up on foam tape, and popped up the black sentiment strip as well. I finished off with some Sprinkles in Bumblebee, Tangerine, and Swimming Pool.

I decided to get out my BB Mermazing Stamp Set and Die-namics since it’s been a while. First I did a watercolor background after heat embossing Whimsical Waves Background on Ranger Watercolor Paper and set it aside to dry. For the card front I dry embossed Radiating Rays Stencil on some Sweet Tooth card stock after cutting it with Inside & Out Stitched Circle STAX Die-namics. Next I stamped the image from Mermazing with Extreme Black hybrid ink, cut her out with the coordinating Die-namics, and colored her with Copic markers.



I stamped some fish on the background, popped the card front up on the background with foam tape and adhered it to the card base. The sentiment was heat embossed on Black Licorice card stock cut with Essential Fishtail Sentiment Strips and popped up on foam as was the colored image. I finished off with some 3mm, 4mm, and 5mm Clear Round Drops.

Thank You for Going Above & Beyond–Color Throwdown Challenge #494

Hello there and welcome to a new Color Throwdown Challenge! This week our hostess is Amy Rohl and she is challenging us with this classis color combo.

So, with Memorial Day coming up soon in the US, I got all patriotic with this card. I started by doing a watercolor wash background and after it dried ran it through my die cutting machine with Stitched Star Grid Die-namics. I then adhered it to a Sweet Tooth card stock base and added the stars, cut from red glitter paper.



Next I cut New York Skyline Die-namics from Ranger Watercolor paper, did a gray watercolor wash on it and then heat embossed the sentiment from Gift Card Greetings with silver embossing powder at the bottom. I added that to the bottom, tied around some red, white, and blue baker’s twine and was done!

For this card I used both color values of flowers—pink and coral—along with both greens for the leaves. I stamped up a bunch of flowers and leaves and created a swag down the left side of my card front.



The sentiment was stamped with Steel Gray Hybrid Ink before it was popped up on the base with foam tape or the flowers added. I finished off with some matching Sprinkles and it was done!
