MFT September Release Countdown, Day Four

countdownday4_2018aug31

Hello and welcome to Day Four of MFT’s September Release Countdown! Be sure to stop by the MFT Blog for all the details about the release on September 4th at 10am. Today we’re previewing BB Fall Friends Stamp Set, BB Fall Friends Die-namics, Birdie Brown Greetings Galore, Circle Trio Shaker Window & Frame Die-namics, Circle Trio Shaker Pouches, and Simply Hello Die-namics - Free with $60.

Print

This new Birdie Brown set has the cutest little images!! Perfect for creating a darling Fall scene! I started with my background, using Drifts & Hills Stencil with Sour Apple dye ink, then added some Peach Bellini dye ink for the horizon and further up, Blue Breeze dye ink. I stamped the naked trees from Modern Trees on the landscape and drew in shadows with a Copic marker and was set for adding my images.

countdownday4_2018aug31b

I stamped the images with Extreme Black hybrid ink on No Line Coloring card stock, cut them out with the coordinating Die-namics, and colored with Copic markers. I popped them up in the scene with foam tape, added some Puffy Clouds Die-namics, and nestled the sentiment between the trees and clouds.

And that’s it from me for Day Four of MFT’s September Release Countdown! Thanks SO much for stopping by! See you back tomorrow for Day Two!

MFT September Release Countdown, Day Five

countdownday5_2018aug30

Welcome to Day Five of MFT’s September Release Countdown! Release is on September 4th at 10am so mark your calendars now. And be sure to stop by the MFT Blog for all the details. Today we’re previewing Sassy Pants Best Friends Stamp Set, Friendly Raccoons Stamp Set, Friendly Raccoons Die-namics, Mod Birds Stamp Set, Mod Birds Die-namics, Double Slider Loops Slots Die-namics, Black & White Dots Patterned Paper, and the September Freebie Set - Cactus set.

Print

There are a lot of super fun sentiments in this set but I kept going back to this one so I designed my card around it. I thought an image from Monster Sized Stamp Set might be “not normal” enough to work so after creating my sky background by sponging, top to bottom, After Midnight, Cornflower, and Blue Breeze dye inks, I added a “hallo” of Sweet Tooth pigment ink, then added stars with some Copic Opaque White and a drop or two of water. I then added the “moon”, cut from Sweet Tooth card stock and stamped with Distressed Patterns and Grout Gray dye ink, popped up on foam.

countdownday5_2018aug30b

My monster and two planets from BB Space Explorer Stamp Set, were stamped with Extreme Black hybrid ink, colored with Copic markers, and fussy cut out, then popped up on foam. The sentiment was heat embossed on Black Licorice card stock cut with Essential Fishtail Sentiment Strips.

And there you have it for Day Five of MFT’s September (OMG, that’s hard to type!) Release Countdown! See you back tomorrow for Day Four!

We Wish You a Happy Birthday–MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #400

MFTWSC400_2018aug29

Hi, everyone, I’m back with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

MFT_WSC_400

I decided to think out of the box for my card for this sketch. It’s a very simple sketch so it occurred to me that the vertical strips *could* be balloon strings. Since I didn’t have any long enough I simply drew them by hand with a Gray Copic Multiliner Pen. Then I cut Heart Balloons Die-namics from Graphic Grid Pastels Paper Pack in a pastel rainbow pattern.

MFTWSC400_2018aug29b

I popped the hearts up on foam in a staggered arrangement and added a Sprinkle to each, matching the color. To finish, I stamped the sentiment, from From All of Us Stamp Set following the sketch.

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the
MFT Challenge Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. One winner is chosen at random each week!

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!

Hello, Sunshine–Color Throwdown Challenge #508

CTD508_2018aug29

Hey everyone, welcome to another Color Throwdown Challenge! This week Lynn is our hostess and she has a bold color palette for us drawn from her very colorful inspiration piece.

swatch508

I didn’t really want to do flowers per se so I went looking though my stamps to see what would work. When I ran across BB Polynesian Paradise I knew I’d hit upon it. First up I stamped the images on No-Line Coloring Card Stock with Extreme Black hybrid ink, cut them out with the coordinating Die-namics and colored them up in the challenge colors. Next I did an alcohol ink background to use as my “sun” to play off the sentiment. Love the texture look you get by working the alcohol ink with a brush and alcohol!

CTD508_2018aug29b

Then I cut Inside & Out Stitched Circle STAX Die-namics off the side of a panel of Sweet Tooth card stock, adhered the “sun” with foam over the opening, and popped the whole thing up on foam on a Sweet Tooth card stock base. Next I added a strip of Black & White Stripes Paper Pack and heat embossed the sentiment on Black Licorice card stock cut with Stitched Fishtail Sentiment Strips, the sentiment strip popped up on foam. To finish off I adhered the images on foam, as well.

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD509 so we can see your beauty all in one place, and use #ctd509 and #colorthrowdown on social media. Hope to see you there! MFT August Hits & Highlights—Hit the Trail

hitsandhighlights_2018aug28

Time to head west, crafters! Our team of intrepid designers is embarking on an adventure exploring our assortment of western-themed products. You’ll find everything from adorable characters from Birdie Brown’s Saddle up & Celebrate to desert-dwelling critters and heat-loving cacti. Grab your hat, grab your spurs…we’re hitting the trail.

Print

What fun, right? I gave this some thought and decided to create a lonely desert scene where the sentiment was front and center. So, first I sponged my background, using Daffodil, Orange Zest, and After Midnight premium dye inks and a mini ink blending tool. Then I created my rocky hills with BB Icebergs Die-namics, totally inspired by my talented fellow design team member Amy Yang. She did this last month and it was GENIUS so I had to copy her idea! I cut them from Tangy Orange card stock and did some highlighting with a Copic marker

hitsandhighlights_2018aug28b

I added a million stars, ‘cause this is big sky country, but splattering some watered down Copic Opaque White, and a moon rising behind the rocks, cut from Lemon Chiffon card stock with Beach Scene Builder Die-namics. Next I cut Grassy Hills from Black Licorice card stock and to create the look of the glow from the campfire, I simply scrubbed on some orange Prismacolor pencil. The campfire is from Best in the West, was stamped with Extreme Black hybrid ink, colored, and fussy cut out then adhered. I also stamped some cacti from Llama Love, black on black, cut them out and added them to the scene. To finish off, I added the sentiment, Miss You Die-namics, also cut from Black Licorice card stock. Lots of foam tape was used throughout for dimension.

And that’s it from me—love how dramatic it is! Be sure to stop by the MFT Blog to see what some of my team mates have for you today. Thanks so much for stopping by! See you soon!

I’m using this adorable fella from BB Saddle Up & Celebrate Stamp Set and Die-namics for this challenge. First I sponged the sky using Mini Cloud Edges Stencil and Blue Breeze dye ink, then I added some tumbleweed using Grassy Edges Stencil and Kraft dye ink. The images were stamped on No-Line Coloring Card Stock with Extreme Black hybrid ink, cut out with the coordinating Die-namics, colored with Copic markers, and popped up on the scene wit foam tape.

I’m So Sorry–MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #399

MFTWSC399_2018aug22

Hi, everyone, I’m back with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

MFT_WSC_399

So, this sketch is pretty classic, I think, so I kept my design classic. To begin, I added a panel of Black & White Stripes Paper Pack down the left side of a Sweet Tooth card stock card front. Next I cut an opening with Inside & Out Stitched Circle STAX and popped it up on foam on the card base with a watercolor wash square sandwiched between them, then I added some Grand Greenery Die-namics, Cut from Sour Apple card stock.

MFTWSC399_2018aug22b

I stamped an image from Fluttering Friends Stamp Set on No-Line Coloring Card Stock with Extreme Black Hybrid Ink, colored it with Copic markers and popped it up on the greenery. Next I added the sentiment, heat embossed on a strip of Black Licorice card stock and finished off with some bright Sprinkles.

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the MFT Challenge Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. One winner is chosen at random each week!

Miss You–Color Throwdown Challenge #507

CTD507_2018aug22

Hey there everyone, welcome to a brand new Color Throwdown Challenge! This week Lori is our hostess and she has an interesting color combo for us, based on her graphic inspiration piece.

swatch507

I say it’s an interesting color combo to me because, although I love each color on it’s own, I’d never have put them together, but it works! Sooooo, I’d been trying to come up with an idea to use Puzzle Cover-Up from MFT’s August release but hadn’t really given it a lot of thought. Once I saw this, though, I thought I could make it work. To begin, I sponged all four colors on a piece of Strathmore Bristol Smooth Paper. I learned about this at the MFT Retreat from my team mate Stephanie and it’s a DREAM to work with. I’m normally sort of sponging challenged but, peeps! This stuff blends like buttah!!! No sponge marks—I love it!

CTD507_2018aug22b

But I digress. So, all sponging done, I cut it with Puzzle Cover-Up Die-namics and then put the puzzle back together, applying copious amounts of clear tape to the back, leaving out the center piece, because I wanted to pop it up on foam tape on the card base. Then I cut Miss You Die-namics three times from Black Licorice card stock, stacked them, and adhered them to the card front. Next I popped the “missing” piece up on foam, and to the side, and finally, finished off with enamel dots. I like it!

MFT August Card Kit, Beautiful Bloom–Release

cardkitdayrelease_2018aug21

Hello and welcome to MFT’s August Card Kit Release! Beautiful Bloom Card Kit is now available for purchase at the MFT Online Boutique! Be sure to stop by the MFT Blog to get all the details!

Print

For today’s card, I again stamped Beautiful Blooms Stamp Set all over a piece of paper, this time Ranger Watercolor Paper, and heat embossed with White Detail Embossing Powder, then did a watercolor wash with Peerless Watercolors. Once it was dry, I splattered some clean water and after that dried, some black Liquitex acrylic ink then popped it up on a Sweet Tooth card stock base with foam tape.

cardkitdayrelease_2018aug21b

Next I cut Beautiful Die-namics from Sweet Tooth card stock and Black Licorice card stock and adhered them together (OMG, I love this layered die!!). I stamped the sentiment from Hello, Beautiful on Berrylicious card stock cut with Essential Slanted Sentiment Strips, popped it up on foam, then added the die-cut sentiment, also with foam tape. To finish off I added some Sprinkles to match.

And there you have it for MFT’s August Card Kit Release! I seriously LOVE this kit! I hope I’ve given you some ideas for using YOUR Beautiful Bloom Card Kit so go shop! Thanks so much for stopping by—see you soon!
