MFT February Release Countdown, Day Five!

Hello and welcome to Day Five of
MFT’s February Release Countdown!! We have a world of goodies for you this month and we’re starting off the previews with SY It's a Mice Time to Celebrate Stamp Set, SY It's a Mice Time to Celebrate Die-namics, Super Dog Stamp Set, Super Dog Die-namics, Super Cat Stamp Set, Super Cat Die-namics, and City Block Die-namics. Release is on February 5th at 10am Eastern so mark your calendars! And stop by the MFT Blog for all the details and more samples from the team.

For my first card I’m using SY It’s a Mice Time to Celebrate Stamp Set and Die-namics. Don’t you just love this little mousie??? I decided a mouse needed a mouse hole so I created one for him using Oval STAX Set 2 after I sponged the background elements using Berrylicious, Kraft, and Milk Chocolate Dye Inks. Next I stamped the sentiment and popped the “wall” section up on foam tape.

Then I stamped the images on No Line Coloring Card Stock with Extreme Black Hybrid ink, cut them out with the coordinating Die-namics, colored them with Copic markers, and adhered them with foam tape as well. I just love this set!!

Next up is Super Cat Stamp Set and Die-namics along with City Block Die-namics. I am SO happy to see this “generic” cityscape and I can tell I’m going to use it a LOT.

I began by sponging the clouds using Mini Cloud Edges Stencil and Blue Breeze dye ink. I cut City Block from Gravel Gray card stock and backed it with Steel Gray card stock and used Cement Gray card stock for the side walk and added a little Copic marker in the sidewalk “cracks” for realism. Then I stamped the images and cut them out with the coordinating Die-namics and colored them with Copic markers.

I popped City Block Die-namics up on foam tape for dimension and added the images, also on foam tape. The sentiment was heat embossed on Black Licorice card stock. I love this kitty, too!!

And that’s it from me today! Thanks so much for stopping by today! See you back tomorrow for Day Four of MFT’s February Release Countdown!

You Lift My Spirits–MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #422

Hi, everyone, I’m back with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

So, I flipped the sketch for my card today and used In Paris Stamp Set and Die-namics for the sketch elements, then added some more pieces to fill out the scene. First I created a watercolor wash for my background using Peerless Watercolors on Ranger Watercolor Paper. Then I stamped the images, cut them out with the coordinating Die-namics, and colored them with Copic markers.

I stamped the sentiment on the background when it was dry and adhered it to a Sweet Tooth card stock base. Then added Grassy Edges Die-namics cut from Sour Apple card stock, popped up the images with foam tape, and finished off with Fluffy Clouds Die-namics.

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the MFT Challenge Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. One winner is chosen at random each week!

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!

I Really Look up to You–Color Throwdown Challenge #528

Hello and welcome to a brand new
Color Throwdown Challenge! This week Lynn is our hostess and she’s challenged us to a fun color palette based on her equally fun inspiration piece.

When I sat down to start this card, I looked through my stamps to see what would work with these colors and I was immediately drawn to Playful Giraffes. I mean, the colors were perfect, right? So, I began by sponging my background to get the aqua and the lighter yellow in using Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper and Wild Honey and Broken China Distress Inks. Then I added Stitched Valley and Grassy Edges Die-namics, also sponged with Wild Honey Distress Ink and the sentiment stamped with Milk Chocolate hybrid ink, using foam tape for dimension.

I adhered all that to a Sweet Tooth card stock base and stamped the giraffes on Sweet Tooth card stock with Milk Chocolate hybrid ink. They were cut out with the coordinating Die-namics and colored with Copic markers then popped up into the scene with foam tape.

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD528 so we can see your beauty all in one place, and use #ctd528 and #colorthrowdown on social media. Hope to see you there! Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week, along with our super talented Guest Designer, Vicki Finger!

Your Heart is One in a Million–MFT January Hits & Highlights

Falling in love definitely causes a rattle and hum in your heart, so it’s only appropriate that your love-themed cards feature a shaker heart to honor that feeling. This month, we’ve challenged our designers to create shaker cards featuring hearts — big hearts, mini hearts, balloon hearts, and multi-hearts...there are so many options available in the shop we know they will blow us away with the variety and creativity they bring to the challenge. Are you feeling the love? Us too!

I chose to use the Peek-a-Boo Striped Heart Die-namics for my card today. I’ve always loved this die and haven’t shown it enough attention lately. To begin, I cut the die from Sweet Tooth card stock and sponged the card front with Berrylicious dye ink then heat embossed the sentiment from Sweet Nothings Stamp Set with Silver Pearl embossing powder. I created my shaker element with an acetate window, 1/8” Scor-Tape, foam tape, and 4mm sequins in Aquamarine, Pink Blush, Pink Peonies, & Purple Pansies along with Silver Shimmer Seed Beads.

Here’s another view so you can see the sentiment better—it shows up well IRL, but not so much in the photo. When all that was done I popped the card front up on foam tape on a Sweet Tooth card stock base and added Mini Rolled Roses cut from Sweet Stack Paper Pack and Fab Foliage cut from Blu Raspberry card stock and finished of with some enamel dots.

And there you have it for this month’s
MFT Hits & Highlights! Thanks so much for stopping by! See you soon!

Be My Valentine - French Kiss from Doodlebug Designs

The French Kiss Collection is FULL of the cutest romantic images and icons ever! In addition, there are birthday items and just thinking of you type ephemera perfect for any occasion for those special people in your life. For my two cards today, though, I went full-on Valentine’s Day!

For my first card, I used patterned paper from the French Kiss 6 x 6 paper pad for the background and added some Love Actually washi tape as an accent. I also added a strip of Dot-Stripe Rainbow Petite Prints to serve as “grass”, then I added the pink Eiffel Tower from Tower of Love Doodle-Pops, springing out of the flower print.

Next I added the bicycling couple from Odds & Ends with a heart balloon tied to the back with some Blue Jean Doodle Twine, and a speech bubble from the French Kiss Chit Chat assortment. Foam tape was used for dimension and I finished off with some embellishments including more Odds & Ends, Heart Throb Shape Sprinkles, and a Cupcake jewel.
*****

For my second card I went a little more CAS. I just love all the happy colors in this collection so I used a couple of them in the form of patterned paper from the French Kiss 6 x 6 paper pad for the background. I transitioned between the two with super sweet City of Love washi tape.

I popped up an Odds and Ends element on foam tape for the sentiment banner at the top and constructed three Mini Love Notes and arranged them on the bottom panel. I finished off by adding some Baby Hearts Shape Sprinkles, using one to dot the “I” in the sentiment banner.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! See you soon!
