Have an Ice Day–MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #465

Hi, everyone, I’m back with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

Wowza, this was a super fun sketch!!! I started with a Sweet Tooth card stock base and spread some molding paste through Winter Stencil Strips using the knitted sweater pattern—the dimension with this stencil is amazing! While that was drying I dry embossed more Sweet Tooth card stock with Pine Tree Forest Stencil and then popped it up on the base with foam tape. Next I prepped the background of my Stitched Traditional Tag STAX cut from Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper using Distress Inks: Stormy Sky for the sky and Weathered Wood for the ice. I stamped the skate marks and the giraffe image with Extreme Black hybrid ink, cut the giraffe out with the coordinating Die-namics, and colored it with Copic markers.

I added snow drifts using Snowy Hillside Die-namics, stamped the trees from the set, and put the scene together. After splattering the whole thing with white acrylic ink and adding a baker’s twine tie, I popped it up on the card front with foam tape. I finished off by heat embossing the sentiment on Black Licorice card stock cut with Essential Fishtail Sentiment Strips Die-namics and adhering it, also with foam.

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the MFT Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. One winner is chosen at random each week!

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!

You Light Up My Holidays–Color Throwdown Challenge #571

Hi everyone, welcome to a brand new
Color Throwdown Challenge! This week Amy Rysavy is challenging us to a gorgeous color combo based on her lovely and very Christmas-y inspiration piece.

I thought Festive Flamingos Stamp Set and Die-namics might be the starting place for this design and I love where it ended up. First I sponged my background with Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean Distress Inks and splattered with clean water for some “character”. That was adhered directly to a Sweet Tooth card stock base after it dried and I built on it. I cut Grassy Fields Die-namics from Gumdrop Green card stock and built the palm tree from Beach Scene Builder Die-namics using Sour Apple and Kraft card stock, all edges sponged with matching dye ink.

The image was stamped on No Line Coloring card stock with Extreme Black hybrid ink, cut out with the coordinating Die-namics, and colored with Copic markers. I cut a Sweet Tooth card stock front panel with Inside & Out Stitched Oval STAX, stamped the sentiment, and popped it up on foam tape after adding the strips of Grassy Fields die cut paper. The rest of the scene was assembled and finished off with some enamel dots!

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the
Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD571 so we can see your beauty all in one place, and use #ctd571 and #colorthrowdown on social media. Hope to see you there! Have a Cool Christmas–MFT November Hits & Highlights

Christmas is really a full season for many of us, not a single day, so if you’re still thinking of whipping up some holiday cards, we’ve got you covered. Hits & Highlights this month is all about bringing the feel of winter to your holiday with a cool palette featuring blues, pinks, and purples — bring a little shiver of delight with wintry colors evocative of falling snow and twinkling lights.

I hadn’t had a chance to use BB Snow Buddies Stamp Set and Die-namics from the November Release yet and I thought they would be perfect for this challenge! To begin, I sponged Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper with Distress Inks in Dusty Concord and Stormy Sky, splattered it with clean water and white acrylic ink, allowing to dry in between. While it was drying I stamped the images on No Line Coloring card stock with Extreme Black hybrid ink, cut them out with the coordinating Die-namics, and colored them with Copic markers, paper piecing the little girl’s hat with Petite Plaids Paper Pack.

Once all that was done I adhered the background directly to a Sweet Tooth card stock base and added Stitched Snow Drifts Die-namics, cut from Sweet Tooth card stock with the sentiment from Cool Christmas Stamp Set (retired). Foam tape was used in between layers for dimension and lastly, the images were also popped up on foam for the finish!

Thanks so much for stopping by! See you soon!

Season’s Greetings - MFT Color Challenge #130

Hi, all, I'm back with the latest
MFT Color Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s color combo: Gravel Gray, Tangy Orange, Jellybean Green, Milk Chocolate. All of the details about the color challenge are available on the MFT Blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

Yep, I’m doing another wreath! I love and it’s so easy to use!! This time I’ve cut it from Jellybean Green card stock and adhered it to Gravel Gray card stock stamped with Whimsical Woodgrain and Gravel Gray dye ink. The berries were cut from Tangy Orange card stock and adhered with drops of liquid glue.

The sentiment is from Snow Globe Greetings and was heat embossed on Milk Chocolate card stock cut with Tag Builder Blueprints 7 then adhered with foam tape. These would be pretty quick to mass produce, actually.

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the
MFT Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. One winner is chosen at random each week!

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!

Hello, Sunshine–MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #464

Hi, everyone, I’m back with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

Well, this was kinda challenging but in a fun way! To begin, I sponged my sky using Blue Breeze dye ink and Mini Cloud Edges on a panel of Sweet Tooth card stock and popped it up on foam tape on a Sweet Tooth card stock card base. For the circle element I cut Sunny Skies Die-namics from Lemon Drop card stock and sponged it with Fossilized Amber Distress ink before adhering it with foam tape. The two small circles were done with Cute Cloud Outlines cut from Sweet Tooth card stock and also adhered with foam tape for dimension.

I heat embossed part of a sentiment from Full of Sunshine stamp set on Vellum and finished it with Sunshine Die-namics, cut from Black Licorice card stock. I finished off with a few Cute Cloud Outlines on the sun for balance.

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the MFT Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. One winner is chosen at random each week!

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!

Cheers to 2020 - November MFT Vault Day Two

Hello, I’m back again with another card using ALM Cheers Stamp Set and Die-namics from yesterday’s
MFT Vault Release! I do love these girls and missed them so!

I thought this image would be perfect for a New Year’s card so that’s what I did. I started by heat embossing Fireworks Stamp Set several times on Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper with white detail embossing powder and then sponged over it using these Distress Inks: Salty Ocean, Blueprint Sketch, Chipped Sapphire, Wilted Violet, Picked Raspberry, and Black Soot. When that was dry I spattered it with slightly watered-down Copic Opaque White with a small art brush and popped it up on a Sweet Tooth card stock base when *that* was dry.

Next I stamped the image with Extreme Black hybrid ink on No Line Coloring card stock, cut it out with the coordinating Die-namics and colored it with Copic markers. I added some Clear Wink of Stella to her dress and the champagne flute but you can’t really see that in the photo. It adds some amazing shimmer. I cut Mondo Cheers Die-namics from Silver Sparkle card stock, stacked it with two copies cut from white scraps and spray adhesive then adhered it to the card front. I stamped part of a sentiment from the set on Sweet Tooth card stock cut with Skinny Strips Die-namics and finished the sentiment with Captions Numbers Die-namics cut from Gold Sparkle card stock. I love this!

And that’s it from me for November’s MFT Vault! Thanks so much for stopping by! See you soon!

May Your Holidays Be Beary & Bright–Color Throwdown Challenge #570

Hello, it’s time for a new
Color Throwdown Challenge! This week Wanda is our hostess and she has a fun color combo based on her yummy inspiration photo!

I almost went with the snowman theme but then I thought about BB Beary Best Friends Stamp Set and Die-namics and knew that was where I wanted to go. The background was done by sponging Carved Pumpkin and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Inks then spattering with clear water and added the sentiment before adhering the panel to a Sweet Tooth card base. I built the scene, once that was done, using Stitched Snow Drifts, BB Icebergs, and Cute Cloud Outlines.

The images were stamped on No Line Coloring Card Stock using Extreme Black hybrid ink, cut out with the coordinating Die-namics, colored with Copic markers, and added to the scene with foam tape. Foam tape was also used to achieve dimension in scene building, as well.

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the

Shake, Move, and Groove - November MFT Birthday Project Challenge

There’s no better occasion than a birthday to get as festive as possible by including shaker elements packed with glitter, sequins, or confetti. If shakers aren’t your style, including a cute critter careening across your card with a slider element is another exciting option. Shaker and interactive elements are a joy both to create AND receive so do yourself a favor and join us this month in crafting cards that move you.

I’ll take any occasion to create a shaker so I was excited when I saw this challenge! AND since I had never gotten around to using Happy Birthday Block Die-namics, it gave me the perfect opportunity to rectify that!

I started by cutting it from some Sweet Tooth card stock, trimmed it off square, and adhered clear acetate card stock to the back, used foam tape for the “dam” filled with sequins and seed beads, and closed it up with Sweet Tooth card stock covered with some paper from Candy Land Paper Pack. Images from Polar Penguin were stamped on No Line Coloring card stock with Extreme Black hybrid ink, cut out with the coordinating Die-namics, and colored with Copic markers.

The sentiment, from BB Penguins in Paradise, was stamped at the bottom of a Sweet Tooth card stock base, hemp cord was tied around, and the shaker element adhered to the top. The colored images were adhered with foam tape and I called it done!

Now, it's your turn. You have until Wednesday, December 18th, at noon EST to add your link and be eligible for the prize of $50 in MFT Cash to be spent in the MFT boutique. Winners are chosen at random, so everyone has a chance!
