Welcome, Baby–MFT March Hits & Highlights

Alphabet and number stamps are an essential component of your card-making toolbox for adding personal touches that enable your recipient to know, without a doubt, their card was made just for them. The bonus of the Pumped-Up Alphabet is the light, celebratory feel the letters lend your design — balloons just make people happy! This month, our designers are showcasing their ideas for making the most of these irresistible stamp sets.

The first thing that came into my head was “baby” so I looked through my stamps for something that would work with that. I came across BB Otterly Love You and a card was born! First of all I created my water element by applying a watercolor wash on some Ranger watercolor paper with Flower Fresh Color Burst Trio using the Tropical Teal bottle. I stamped the wave action from BB Otterly Adore You and die cut the slot. Next I stamped “BABY” with Pumped-Up Alphabet on Sweet Tooth card stock using Limelight, Tickled Pink, Lemon Drop, and Blue Breeze dye inks, masked them off using Eclipse masking paper cut with Pumped-Up Alphabet (perfect fit!) and then stenciled my sky using Berrylicious dye ink and Mini Cloud Edges Stencil. “Welcome” was stamped using a partial sentiment from Essential Sentiments Stamp set and the panel was adhered to a Sweet Tooth card stock base.

To complete the scene I added Grassy Fields Die-namics cut from Gumdrop Green card stock and the images, stamped on No Line Coloring card stock, stamped with Extreme Black hybrid ink, colored with Copic markers, and popped up in the scene with foam tape.

And that’s it from me for today! Thanks so much for stopping by! See you soon!

Every Sip of the Way–MFT Color Challenge #138

Hi, all, I'm back with the latest
MFT Color Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s color combo: Ripe Raspberry, Blu Raspberry, Lemon Chiffon, and Primitive White. All of the details about the color challenge are available on the MFT Blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

I went really CAS with this card and used small pops of the challenge colors. I do love Primitive White (and Cream) card stocks but in this case I wanted a little more of a background so first thing I did was to spatter some black acrylic ink on a panel, stamp the sentiment from Good Time to Wine Stamp Set with Extreme Black hybrid ink, and popped it up on a Primitive White card stock base.

Next I cut Let’s Toast Die-namics from No Line Coloring card stock and colored them with the challenge colors, added some off white around the edges to match the background.

After that all I had to do was pop them up on foam and finish off with some matching enamel dots.

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the MFT Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. Winners are chosen at random, so everyone has a chance!

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!

You Color My World–MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #482

Hi, everyone, I’m back with this week’s
MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

One thing I do when I start to work on a sketch is to look through my stamps and dies to see if something jumps out as a possible theme for the card. For this card Artist Palette and Brush Die-namics all but hit me upside the head, LOL! Add this to the fact that I’d not used it since it came out of the vault last summer because when it shipped to the design team and went live in the store I was out of the country and couldn’t! This was the perfect time to remedy that situation!

To begin, I cut the brushes from Kraft card stock, the ferrule from Silver Shine card stock, and the bristle part from Cornflower, Pineapple, and Wild Cherry card stocks. I added some Crystal Effects to the bristles and when they were dry adhered all the pieces together to complete my brushes.

While they were drying I added Black and White Dots Paper Pack to a Sweet Tooth card stock card base, stamped the spatter from Distressed Patterns Stamp Set with Cornflower, Pineapple, and Wild Cherry dye inks and popped the card front up on the base with foam tape. Once the brushes were done I adhered them with very narrow strips of foam tape and added the sentiment, from PI You Color My World, heat embossed on Black Licorice card stock and also popped up on foam.

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the MFT Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. Winners are chosen at random, so everyone has a chance!

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!

Celebrate–Color Throwdown Challenge #586

Hi, everyone, welcome to a brand new
Color Throwdown Challenge!! This week’s lovely colors were chosen by Lisa, inspired by her sweet and whimsical inspiration piece.

I got some Gina K Iridescent Glitter Glitz a while back and decided to give it a whirl on this card. First of all I sponged some Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper with Victorian Velvet and Wilted Violet Distress Inks. Once that dried, I spread the Glitter Glitz through Candy Stripes Stencil and allowed that to dry. I trimmed that down and popped it up on a Sweet Tooth card stock base with foam tape.

Next I heat embossed the sentiment from Bitty Birthday Wishes on Grape Jelly card stock cut with Skinny Strips Die-namics and adhered directly to the card front.

Celebrate Die-namics was cut from Gold Sparkle card stock and twice from white scraps, adhered them together with spray adhesive, and adhered it above the embossed sentiment.

I finished off with some glitter enamel dots and called it done!

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD586 so we can see your beauty all in one place, and use #ctd586 and #colorthrowdown on social media. Hope to see you there! Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week along with our March Guest Designer, Cat Craig!
