Drink Up the Sunshine–MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #500

Hi, everyone, I’m back with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

So, I might have used a little artistic license in my interpretation of this sketch ;-) But that’s what they’re for, amirite? They serve as a jumping off place to get your creativity jumping and mine took off, LOL! Since it’s Summer and SO hot, I kept going back to the swimming pool idea and finally just gave up and went with the flow.

Since I hadn’t used the Perfect Pool Water Stencil yet that was a great place to start. I sponged Tumbled Glass, Broken China, and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Inks through it onto Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper and set it aside to dry. Next I cut Swimming Pool Die-namics from Sour Apple card stock then sponged on some Sour Apple and Gumdrop Green dye inks to add some visual dimension. I cut another pool from Cement Gray card stock, trimmed off the pool edge, and added it to the Sour Apple to simulate a concrete edge, the created a shaker element using Swimming Pool Shaker Pouches and some silver seed beads.

Next I stamped the images from BB Drink Up the Sunshine Stamp Set, cut it out with the coordinating Die-namics, and colored them with Copic markers. The sentiment was heat embossed on Black Licorice card stock cut with Stitched Fishtail Sentiment Strips Die-namics.

I cut another Stitched Fishtail Sentiment Strips from Black & White Stripes Paper Pad and then the strips and images were adhered with foam tape for dimension. I love this little scene and am SO envious of that little girl, LOL!

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the
MFT Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. Winners are chosen at random, so everyone has a chance!

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!

Our Friendship is Picture Perfect–Color Throwdown Challenge #604

Hi all, it’s time for a new
Color Throwdown Challenge! This week Amy Rohl is our hostess and she’s challenging us to a minimalist color palette base on her signature minimalist inspiration piece.

I went a little darker on the terra cotta part, but I thought these cats from BB Picture Perfect Stamp Set was a perfect vehicle for these colors. So, I stamped it on No Line Coloring card stock with Extreme Black hybrid ink, colored it with Copic markers, and framed it with Black Licorice card stock cut with Polaroid Shaker Frame Die-namics after heat embossing the sentiment from the set.

Next, I stamped paw prints from BB New Best Friend Stamp set on a Sweet Tooth card stock card base then added a panel of Black & White Stripes Paper Pad “piped” with Tangy Orange card stock and popped up on foam. The framed kitties were also popped up on foam and I finished off with some orange dew drops from my stash. Am I the only one who has these things still hanging around? I have them in EVERY color, LOL! Gonna start using them again.

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the
Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD604 so we can see your beauty all in one place, and use #ctd604 and #colorthrowdown on social media. Hope to see you there! Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week!

HB2U - MFT July Hits & Highlights

Break out the balloons and take your cards to new heights with balloons! Balloons are a universal sign of happy times and special occasions — we think it’s the perfect time to celebrate this iconic symbol with our extensive array of balloon products. Whether it’s stamps, dies, shaker pouches, stencils, or patterned paper, you’re sure to find the perfect product for your card. Put on a smile and tour the projects created by our talented design team. There are plenty of ideas here to stock your birthday card stash. Ready? Set. Go!

Balloons are so much fun—especially MFT’s Pumped-Up Alphabet and Pumped-Up Numbers Die-namics! I hadn’t used them for a while so this was the perfect opportunity to remedy that!

To begin, I created my background by using Sweet Tooth card stock, Mini Cloud Edges and Grassy Edges Stencils with Blue Breeze and Gumdrop Green dye ink, stamping the sentiment from BB Birthday Buds Stamp Set with Extreme Black hybrid ink, and adhering it to a Sweet Tooth card stock base.

Next I cut Pumped-Up Alphabet and Pumped-Up Numbers Die-namics from Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper sponged with Dried Marigold, Broken China, Shabby Shutters, and Spun Sugar Distress Inks and popped them up on the card front with foam tape.

Then I stamped the image from BB Birthday Buds on No Line Coloring card stock with Extreme Black hybrid ink, cut it out with the coordinating Die-namics, paper pieced the hat using Birthday Brights Paper Pad, and coloring with Copic markers. Once that was done I popped it up on foam tape, as well, and added baker’s twine from the balloons to his trunk for the finish!

Thanks for stopping by today! Hope you can find the time to have some balloon fun, too! See you soon!

Happy Birthday–MFT Color Challenge #146

Hi, all, I'm back with the latest MFT Color Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s color combo: Milk Chocolate, Tickled Pink, Coral Crush, and Summer Splash. All of the details about the color challenge are available on the MFT Blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

I went really CAS with this card. I knew I wanted to use a die for the sentiment and pulled out Happy Birthday Script Die-namics for it. I cut it from Milk Chocolate Card Stock once, twice from scrap white, and colored the edges with a Copic marker. I could have used three layers of Milk Chocolate but why do that when I had loads of white scraps laying around?

To bring in the other three challenge colors, I sponged Big Balloon Stencil with Tickled Pink, Summer Splash, and Coral Crush dye inks on Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper and hand drew the balloon strings. It was then adhered to a Sweet Tooth card stock card base with foam tape and the stacked sentiment adhered with spray adhesive. I finished off with some glitter enamel dots.

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the MFT Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. Winners are chosen at random, so everyone has a chance!

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!

MFT is now available for purchase in the MFT Online Boutique!! After you shop, be sure to head over to the MFT Blog for more inspiration from the insanely talented MFT Design Team.

I love this adorable little bunny sleeping on the moon and wanted to highlight it on today’s card. First I created my background, sponging Strathmore Bristol Smooth card stock with Broken China, Blueprint Sketch, Chipped Sapphire, and Black Soot Distress Inks, covered that with Ranger Glaze, and then spattered it with white craft paint for the stars. Once dry, it was adhered to a Sweet Tooth card stock with foam tape and set aside.

The image was stamped on No Line Coloring card stock with Extreme Black hybrid ink, cut out with the coordinating Die-namics, and colored with Copic markers. It was popped up on the card front with foam tape along with some Petite Cloud Die-namics cut from Sweet Tooth card stock and sponged with Cement Gray dye ink to match the night sky.

The sentiment was heat embossed on Black Licorice card stock cut with Skinny Strips Die-namics and popped up on foam.

And that’s it from me for MFT’s July Card Kit Release. Thanks so much for stopping by! See you soon!

Hang in There—Two Days Until MFT’s July Card Kit Release!

Welcome to Day Two of
MFT’s July Card Kit Countdown! This month’s kit is called Sky High Friends and contains two stamp sets and Die-namics, a Free with $60 Die-namics, a new paper pad, and cardstock. Release is on Tuesday, July 21st at 10am Eastern so make a note. And be sure to stop by the MFT Blog for all the details.

For today’s card I’m using Best Adventure Bears Stamp Set and Die-namics and Petite Clouds Die-namics—love these little guys! I missed Puffy Clouds so much and these are a great replacement! To begin, I did a watercolor wash background using Peerless Watercolor and a waterbrush. When it was dry, I splattered it with clean water for a little interest. When THAT was dry I stamped the sentiment with Extreme Black hybrid ink. Then I adhered it to a Sweet Tooth card stock base cover with Summertime Polka Dots Paper Pad with fun foam and set it aside.

Next I stamped the image on No Line Coloring card stock with Extreme Black hybrid ink, cut it out with the coordinating Die-namics, colored it with Copic markers, and added it to the card front along with some Petite Cloud Die-namics cut from Sweet Tooth card stock.

And there you have it for Day Two of MFT’s July Card Kit Release Countdown! Sky High Friends Card Kit will be available for purchase on July 21st at 10am Eastern!

Thanks so much for stopping by! See you back tomorrow for Day One of the Release Countdown!
