Let's Do Lunch

We're having some fun challenges over at My Favorite Things' forum on SCS. This week's My Favorite Challenge is to make a gate fold card. I'd never made one of them before so this gave me the push I needed to get one done. I rarely go the easy route, so my gate fold had to have extra folds, LOL. And, I flipped it to better fit the image I wanted to use.

My base card is Whisper White. I started with a 12 x 5 1/2" inch piece of card stock, scored at 2", 4", 8" , and 10" and fan folded to get the base card. I then layered Certainly Celery, Soft Sky, and DP from the Wild Raspberry mat pad from K & Co. on each of the front panels. The focal image is from MFT's Meet Me At the Cafe set, was stamped on a MFT Perfect Paper Panel with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and colored with Copic markers (see below) along with some paper piecing. Then I matted it with Soft Sky and Certainly Celery and attached it to the upper panel, but centering it over the opening. The awning was stamped on DP, cut out, and attached ove the focal image. A little celery colored ribbon, some Prima flowers, Office Max "brads", and punched leaves accent a couple of corners and help keep the card "latched". I like it and will probably do more of these. I'm including a picture of the inside of the card with it unfolded.

Come on over to the MFT forum and play the challenges along with us. One lucky person will win a gift voucher every week and it could be you!

I'm so glad you dropped in today!

  1. Great gate fold, I like that you did the fold a different direction. Very cute and pretty at the same time. Love your colors.

  2. Beautiful design and colors, Bar! Gate-folds are so fun, but I'm like you... don't do them very often!
