Happy Fall, Pumpkin - C4C #105

Happy Saturday! Saturday means Crazy 4 Challenges and I'm hosting again this week.

Before we get into today's challenge, as this week is a sponsored challenge, we need to introduce this month's sponsor which is Creations by AR. Adela has some awesome templates on her site which I know the "Crazies" have had fun playing with for our challenge this week. The templates come in all formats: PDF, SVG and DXF so that you can use them with your electronic die cutting machines or cut by hand if you don't have a machine. This week's winner will receive two templates of their choice from Creations by AR.

Adela has also offered our blog readers a 10% discount on all her templates during this challenge so that is from September 17th to September 23rd. All you need to do is use the code: challenge10 when you go through the check out.

This week's challenge is to include a pumpkin in your project in some form. I hope you'll join us--you can get all the details at the Crazy 4 Challenges blog.

Fall is definitely in the air! We've finally gotten some cooler weather and I'm reveling in it! And with the cooler temps, my mind turns to Pumpkin Spice Lattes, LOL! It's probably a good thing the closest Starbucks to me is 60 miles ;-) So, I went searching for a recipe for a substitute and in my search, I came across one for a mix for Pumpkin Spice Cappucino that I thought that would make an awesome hostess gift. Especially if it was packaged in this sweet little box by Creations by AR, the Crazy 4 Challenges sponsor for this month. The files for this box includes several variations but I chose to use the larger box with a separate lid for my project. I want to package a nice amount of mix so the larger one suited my purposes better. The instructions are excellent and my box went together in no time--I love it! I'm using it as a "pie" but it's really a cake box :)

Here's a close up of the card. I'm using MFT's PI - Li'l Pumpkin on the card. She's colored with Copic markers and her dress and the pumpkin are paper pieced and I'm using the Mini Scallop Edge Die-namics die for the sweet little scalloped border. A bow and some Dew Drops finish it off.

And here's a close up of the box. I really love this template--so easy to use!

Sooooo, NOW, be sure to check out the samples by the rest of my crazy girls...er, I mean the Crazy 4 Challenges team ;-)

THEN, you know what to do--we'd love to have you come along and play with us. Just do your thing with the challenge and link it to Mr. Linky on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Please link directly to your project. And, if you upload to a public gallery, please use the key word C4C105.

Oh, and here's the recipe for the mix:

Cappuccino Mix

Making your own pumpkin spice flavored cappuccino mix can be done right at home. Make sure you have an air-tight jar to store the finished mix in:
Ingredients
  • 1-1/2 cups powdered coffee creamer
  • 3 tablespoons instant coffee
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground mace
  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice
Directions
  1. Combine dry ingredients well and store in an air-tight container.
  2. To use, combine two tablespoons of mix with one cup of boiling water.
If you are interested in making your own, true cappuccino at home, and want to add some pumpkin flavor, you can make your own pumpkin spice at home. Once you've combined the spices to your taste preference, spoon a tablespoon or two into the bottom of your empty coffee cup. Pour the hot espresso and milk into the spices; there is no need to stir.
