Birthday Carnation–CTD #188

CTD188_2012apr18

Hi, all, back again with another Color Throwdown Challenge! This week, Kerri is hosting and here are the colors she chose:

I decided to go a little rustic today ;-) I ran across a piece of burlap and decided to figure out if I could incorporate it into my card. I’m decently happy with how it turned out, LOL!

First of all, I stamped my carnation, from MFT’s Inspired by Flowers, Set #1, and colored it with Copic markers. Then I cut a piece of the burlap about 1/2” larger all the way around and stitched the image to the burlap with a zig zag stitch. Then I trimmed it evenly, pulled out some of the threads to make a fringe, and sponged the stitches with Antique Linen Distress Ink. Before attaching it to the card base, I added a Die-namics Fishtail Flags STAX die cut, using patterned paper with all of the challenge colors. After I adhered the focal element, I wrapped some twine around and tied it with a button. Finally, I added a couple more buttons for balance.

For the inside, I cut another Fishtail Flags STAX and stamped the sentiment, from Finishing Flourishes before adhering it.
