Sun Ray Die-namics–MFT June Teaser, Day Five

teaserday5_2013jun9

Welcome back to Day Five of MFT’s June Teasers! What a great Die-namics die I have to show you today! It’s called Die-namics Sun Ray and it is definitely a ray of sunshine. Be sure to check out the MFT Blog for set and die reveals and for a chance to win a prize. And don’t forget, release is on June 11 at 10pm.

After I got the sun rays adhered, I cut another circle with Die-namics Circle STAX and stamped the image, from LJD On the Line and popped it up on foam. To finish it off, I added some Die-namics Cloud Trio clouds. Die-namics Sun Ray does all the work for you—just cut it out and glue it down :)

There are several ways to utilize this awesome die: you can use the rays with the border, the rays separated, and the one with the border as a template.  I’m going to show you an easy way to get all the separate pieces aligned perfectly PLUS a use for the “negative” border version, so let’s get started.

I began with a Sweet Tooth card stock base and added a Sno Cone card stock layer. I cut Die-namics Sun Ray out with Lemon Drop card stock and here’s the general placement of the pieces:

To assure that all the pieces were lined up perfectly, I took my “negative” with the border and taped it down to my Sno Cone card stock layer and onto a mat with removable tape for stability.

Then I started to add the pieces back, much like working a puzzle. For the larger sections, I used some tape runner in the center and then liquid glue around the edges and adhered them down to the Sno Cone card stock layer. For the small pieces, I used liquid glue only.

This is what it looked like when I was done:

I removed the tape and the “negative” and voila! Perfect placement!

For the inside of the card, I took the “negative” and taped it down again, this time all the way around, to the inside Sweet Tooth card stock layer. Taping all around protects the white edge because…

…then I sponged Lemon Drop ink in all the open spaces, using it like a stencil. How cool is that!? I stamped another sentiment from LJD On the Line and it was done! Lots of creative options with this one die, right?

And there you have it! I hope you enjoyed my little tutorial and that you’ll try it when you get YOUR Die-namics Sun Ray in your hands :)
