MFTCPC72_2017jun22

Hi, all, I'm back with the latest MFT Color Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s color combo: Blueberry, Blue Yonder, Cement Gray, and Cherry Crisp. All of the details about the color challenge are available on the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

Well, these colors screamed patriotic project to me! And since I’d recently used BB Strike up the Band for another card, a little parade banner occurred to me :) I started by stamping Sheet Music Background on Sweet Tooth card stock with Black Licorice hybrid ink and cutting it out with Jumbo Fishtail Banner STAX Die-namics. I created my “bunting” by using Tiny Check Paper Pack for the bottom, Sweet Tooth card stock for the middle, and Blueberry card stock stamped with Tiny Stars Background and heat embossed with white detail embossing powder for the top layer. They were all cut with Stitched Dome STAX Die-namics and adhered to the banner with foam mounting tape, then I added LLD Stitched Alphabet Die-namics for the “USA” letters, also popped up on foam.

The images were stamped on my new FAVORITE Copic paper, No-Line Coloring card stock. I’ve been using it for regular Copic stamping and, although the MFT store says there might be some bleeding with black and other dark inks I’ve seen NONE. I heat set my Black Licorice hybrid ink the first couple of times to be safe but have stopped doing that and it’s perfect. I love it because it is not *quite* as stark white as X-Press It Blending Card (some think it has a purplish cast but that never has bothered me once images are colored). My only real complaint about it is the weight—it’s too thin to pop up on foam well. The No-Line Coloring card stock is 100lb and perfect for that. I am officially in LOVE with it!!

OK, so I stamped the images, cut them out with the coordinating dies, colored with Copic markers, and popped them up on the banners with foam tape. Then I strung the banners together with baker’s twine and it was done!

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the
MFT Challenge Blog. You have the chance to win a $20 in MFT voucher. One winner is chosen at random each week!

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!
