New MFT Design Team Challenge - Hits & Highlights!

Hello and welcome to a brand new Design Team Challenge at MFT! In this challenge, each month we’ll be highlighting some of our favorite products and exploring fun ways to use them.

Whether you’re a master or a novice at crafting shaker cards, our range of shaker pouches makes it fast and easy to add a variety of shaped shaker elements to your cards and projects. These low-profile pouches keep your cards relatively slim while still providing ample room for your favorite shaker filler material. If you avoid shaker cards because of the assembly required, now is the time to try your hand at these addictively fun interactive cards and our team has an abundance of ideas to get you started!





For my card today I chose to use Square Shaker Pouches along with LJD Rectangle Peek-a-Boo Window Die-namics as a fun accent to my Beautiful Butterflies themed card. I filled the shaker pouch with Lemon Drop 6mm Sequins, Lemon Drop 4mm Sequins, Pink Peonies 6mm Sequins, Pink Peonies 4mm Sequins, Tangerine 6mm Sequins, Tangerine 4mm Sequins, Aquamarine 6mm sequins, Aquamarine 4mm Sequins, Marshmallow Seed Beads, and a few black seed beads to pull the color palette together.



For my background I applied Peerless Watercolors to Ranger Watercolor Paper, cut the window, stamped the sentiment from You Give Me Butterflies stamp set with Black Licorice hybrid ink, assembled the shaker element, and adhered everything to a Sweet Tooth card stock base with foam mounting tape. Tip: Always stamp on watercolored surfaces with waterproof ink—even it it’s dry. Dye ink tends to bleed and feather on this soft card stock. The butterflies were stamped with, top to bottom, Daffodil dye ink, Orange Zest dye ink, and Ripe Raspberry dye ink with Black Licorice dye ink accents—I love the hot colors on that cool background! The butterflies were adhered with foam tape and it was done!
