Big Birthday Wishes - MFT Color Challenge #166

Hi all, I'm back with the latest MFT Color Challenge! Are you ready? Here's this week's color combo: Grapesicle, Grape Jelly, Caribbean Sea, and Eiffel Tower. All of the details about the color challenge are available on the MFT Blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

I decided that a shaker card would be a great way to display these colors so to begin, I adhered Poppin' Polka Dots Patterned Paper on Sweet Tooth card stock with spray adhesive to keep everything straight, trimmed it to size, and cut it with Big Birthday Wishes Die-namics.

To create the shaker element, I adhered some clear acetate card stock to the back with 1/8" Scor-Tape and adhered it to a Sweet Tooth card stock base on three sides--leaving the top open. Through this opening I poured my sequins and seed beads, then inserted foam tape to close up the top.

Next I stamped Balloon Besties Stamp Set on No Line Coloring card stock, cut it with the coordinating Die-namics, colored it with Copic markers, and popped it up on the front with foam tape for the finish!

And there you have it! Now it’s YOUR turn to play! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the MFT Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. Winners are chosen at random, so everyone has a chance!

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!

Sending Hugs - MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #543

Hi, everyone, I’m back with this week’s
MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

I used the sketch to inspire my background using stencils all the way. Mini Cloud Edges and Lazy Day dye ink for the top and Drifts & Hills and Sour Apple dye ink for the bottom on Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper, then adhered it to a Sweet Tooth card stock base.

For the focal point, I also followed the sketch closely, using Balloon STAX cut from Sweet Tooth card stock and stenciled with Love Is in the Air and Amarena Cherry dye ink. It was popped up on foam with some baker's twine for the string.

The sentiments are from Bitty Hugs & Kisses Stamp Set heat embossed on Black Licorice card stock cut with Skinny Strips Die-namics and popped up on foam tape. To add to the sky theme, I added a few Petite Clouds Die-namics, cut from Sweet Tooth card stock and also adhered with bits of foam tape,

And there you have it! Now it’s YOUR turn to play! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the MFT Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. Winners are chosen at random, so everyone has a chance!

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!

Have a Beautiful Day - Color Throwdown Challenge #644

Hey there and welcome to a brand new Color Throwdown Challenge!! This week Amy Rohl is our hostess and she's chosen a super fun color palette for us to play with.

I immediately thought of yellow butterflies and to that end stamped up some from Spread Your Wings Stamp Set on No Line Coloring card stock with Extreme Black hybrid ink, cut them with the coordinating Die-namics, and colored them with Copic markers.

I brought in the gray of the palette by laying down a watercolor wash on Ranger Watercolor paper with Peerless Watercolors then spattered it with black acrylic ink for the background. This panel was adhered to a Sweet Tooth card stock base with a bottom border of Black & White Stripes Patterned Paper.

The butterflies were popped up on foam and the sentiment, from the set, was heat embossed on a strip of Black Licorice card stock and also popped up on foam. To finish off, I added some glitter enamel dots.

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. Just Add Balloons - MFT May Outside the Box Challenge

Balloons aren't just for birthdays — any occasion that's celebration-worthy deserves some colorful balloons to add to the festivities! Box cards provide a great opportunity to add dimension to your scene with elements like balloons positioned at different depths. Elevate your box cards with bunches of balloons in this month's Outside the Box Challenge.

I took this challenge quite literally and used BUNCHES of balloons on my card today. Balloon Bundle and Balloon Bouquet Stamp Sets and Die-namics provided me with plenty of balloons to send this birthday greeting into the clouds! How fun would it be to take this card out of an envelope and watch those balloons open up??

To begin, I created the box, using Outside the Box Level Up, Outside the Box Clouds, and Box Card Greetings Die-namics along with Mini Cloud Edges Stencil and Sweet Tooth and Black Licorice card stocks.

When that was done I stamped lots of balloons on No Line Coloring card stock with Extreme Black hybrid ink, colored them with Copic markers, and added shine accents with a white gelly roll pen.

Once all the pieces were completed it was just a job of adding the balloons to the back of the cloud shelves.

And there you have it from me for today! Thanks so much for stopping by! See you soon!

This One's on Me - MFT May Slimline Challenge

Gift cards are convenient, and a great option for the person that has it all or is difficult to find the perfect gift for. The real fun comes in crafting just the perfect card to house your thoughtful present! Coordinating your card to the colors or theme of the gift card can be a fun way to make the process more interesting, and with the bonus space provided by slimline cards, the sky's the limit! Join the design team this month in creating slimline designs with gift cards in mind.

I would love to get a card with a pizza gift card, wouldn't you? How fun to open this up and imagine planning the perfect pizza on which to spend it! To begin, I created a slimline card base, cutting an 8.5" x 7" Sweet Tooth card stock panel and scored and folded it in half. To this I added a Kraft layer cut with Slimline Starter Die-namics.

To this I added Gift Wrap Patterned Paper, which resembles a plaid table cloth. Since on piece wasn't long enough I pieced it under where the sentiment stripe falls for a perfect camouflage. Next I created my pizzas, top to bottom, ham and pineapple, pepperoni, and finally a combo.

The pizzas were cut with Pizza Maker Die-namics, assembled (see card stock colors below), trimmed to fit, and adhered to the card front. The sentiment, from Gift Card Greetings, was heat embossed on Vintage Timber card stock cut with Stitched Fishtail Sentiment Strips and popped up on foam.

For the inside, I cut another piece of Kraft card stock with Slimline Starter, stamped the sentiment from Pizza My Heart Stamp Set with Vintage Timber dye ink, and cut the gift card slot using the just released Itty Bitty Strips Die-namics--it's perfect!! I slipped in the card, closed it up, and it's ready to send. I love this!!

And that's all I have for you today! Thanks so much for stopping by--see you soon!

Look On the Bright Side - MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #542

Hi, everyone, I’m back with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

I seriously love Happy Rainbows Die-namics so I'm using them again this week! For this card, I began by cutting all three sizes from Ranger Watercolor paper and watercolored them with Peerless Watercolors.

Next, I created my background by sponging Lazy Day dye ink on Sweet Tooth card stock with Mini Cloud Edges Stencil and adhered it to a Sweet Tooth card stock base with foam tape.

Next, I popped the rainbows up with more foam tape, heat embossed the sentiment, from Good Vibes Only Stamp Set on Black Licorice card stock cut with Skinny Strips Die-namics and Petite Clouds Die-namics, cut from Sweet Tooth card stock.

And that's it from me today! Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!

Missing You - Color Throwdown Challenge #643

Hello and welcome to a brand new Color Throwdown Challenge! I love this sea glass palette from Miss Broni for this week, although I didn't have the exact colors of card stock I used what I had that was closest, as you are encouraged to do.

I adore making graphic design cards like this and couldn't wait to use that technique with these colors. Using Trendy Triangles Die-namics, I cut several of both sizes from Sno Cone, Lazy Day, and Caribbean Sea card stocks and arranged them until I was happy on a Sweet Tooth card stock card front. Once that was done, I adhered the card front on a Sweet Tooth card stock base.

Next I cut Hey Die-namics from Silver Sparkle card stock and two layers of scrap white card stock, layered them with spray adhesive and adhered on top of the triangles.

The sentiment, from Bitty Hugs & Kisses Stamp Set, was heat embossed on Translucent Vellum and tucked under the die cut sentiment and adhered.
