It is a sweet thing, friendship...

It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge (FTTC59)! This week Betty Wright is our host. Betty is challenging us to fake it! We are using faux techniques this week on our cards and projects. There are a list of many amazing faux ideas in the Tutorial section at SCS. Check them out here. So, create something faux fabulous with us this week. We would love to see what you create!

What a fantastic challenge!! Betty got me to try something new and I love it--that's what so great about challenges, right?!! I know I'd probably never have tried this faux silk technique if she hadn't done this challenge. So, I stamped the large image from Birds and Vines on white tissue paper with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored a bit with Copic markers--with a very light hand, since tissue paper is very porous and the ink will bleed easily. Then I crumpled it up--tighter than the SCS tutorial showed. Next, I smoothed it out and attached it to a piece of Classic White card stock with a glue stick smeared all over. Then I trimmed the tissue paper off all around and proceeded with my card as usual. I stamped the bird with Versafine Onyx Black ink, cut it out, and popped it up on Pop Dots. The sentiment is from the Gerbera Daisies set, also stamped with Versafine Onyx Black and cut out with a Spellbinders Labels Four Nestabilities die. After running my blue Copic marker around the edge, I punched a slot in the left end and threaded the moire ribbon through and tied it in a bow. Finally, I added some blue Dew Drops to finish it off.

Here's a close up--it does sort of look like raw silk, but regardless, the texture is amazing! I really love it!

Thank you, Betty, for a great challenge! Now I hope you all will check out my team mates and see what faux-ness they've come up with. I'm sure you'll be delighted with the results--I can't wait to see them myself!
