My Hero - Happy Memorial Day

Today is Memorial Day in the US, so I'd like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to all of the  Americans who care so deeply for our nation that they were willing to sacrifice themselves to defend it. So this card and my heartfelt thanks is for all members of our armed forces, those who lost their lives in service to their country and our brave veterans. They are all my heroes.

I'm using MFT's Well Worn Greetings Die-namics Dies and Stamp Set apparently out of stock), with this perfect sentiment, for my card. I love that denim background stamp and the gorgeous gingham one, don't you? I wanted to make this card with an Americana feel and I think it worked. My patterned paper is from K & Co. Americana Mat Stack and I ran the Wild Cherry card stock though my Stars embossing folder.

I did a little crazy stitching around the edge of the patterned paper layer, added some twill, button, and twine and it was done. I tied a bow on the left button as a nod to all of the women in the armed forces :)

Here's the inside, with another sentiment from the set and some stars cut with the Stacking Stars Die-namics dies.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you'll find time to thank a soldier or veteran today.

  2. God Bless all our service men and women serving this great nation of ours. To our Veterans...a HUGE TY for giving of yourself to keep us free. My father-in-law, a WWII vet just left our house today after our family/friends camping weekend. He is 85 years young and a very proud vet who did a presentation for a historical society in a nearby town friday nite. We are so proud of him and thankful he helped keep our nation free. Your card is wonderful Barbara and I love the stars die from MFT. My list of stamping"needs" just keeps growing.
God Bless America Always!!!!!! And ty Barbara for celebrating this day. Forgotten by many.
