Welcome to MFT’s Design Team Creative Challenge, July edition! I have two cards for you today, each a very different take on that classic pattern, the stripe. My first card starts with a Kraft card stock base. Then, I trimmed down a piece of Primitive White card stock and stamped it with Striped Background and Versamark. I heat embossed with Zing’s Powder Blue embossing powder, which is a dead ringer for Berrylicious card stock. Next I stamped Sheet Music Background with Natural ink to give it a layered look. Then I stamped the sentiment, from LJD Celebrate You, on Kraft card stock with Sweet Tooth pigment ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder, Next I layered up some butterflies using MPD Fancy Butterflies Die-namics and MPD Winged Beauties Die-namics using Kraft card stock, vellum, and Berrylicious card stock stamped with Grid Background and Grout Gray ink. I finished it off with a hemp cord tied Kraft button and some sequins and clear gems.

Another sentiment from LJD Celebrate You was stamped on the inside.

For my second card, I stamped up another fun background.

This time I started with a Primitive White card stock base then, on another piece of Primitive White card stock, I stamped my “patterned paper” with an image from Plaid Builder Background using Sour Apple ink, Razzle Berry ink, Orange Fizz ink, and Grape Jelly ink. I trimmed it down and popped it up on foam. Next I added a vellum Pierced Fishtail Flags STAX Die-namics and then a Dizzy Doily Duo Die-namics cut from more Primitive White card stock. Next I added the sentiment strip, cut from Razzle Berry card stock and stamped with a sentiment from LJD Peaceful Wildflowers using Sweet Tooth pigment ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. I added a Leaf-Filled Flourish Die-namics cut from Sour Apple card stock and then created my flowers. From more Primitive White card stock and using Pretty Posies Die-namics, I colored the flowers with Copic markers—just making swipes from the center out with matching colors. I added a Whip Cream button to each, tied with hemp cord, and then adhered to the card.

Another sentiment from LJD Peaceful Wildflowers was stamped on the inside with Steel Gray ink.

And that’s it! I had so much fun coming up with new ways to use stripes—and I’m sure I’ll be using these ideas again. Thanks so much for stopping by today!
