I just love this vintage image and it's clip art! Yep, I ran across it here and just *had* to print it off and use it on a card.

This was a perfect excuse to bring out my Prima flowers. I'd not used any for a while and I thought they'd be perfect with this image.

Patterned paper is from the Nutmeg 6 x 6 pad by Cosmo Cricket and card stock is Pacific Point, Garden Green, and Regal Rose.

I've got another Pure Innocence girlie for you today. This one is called Heart Stripes. Is she not the cutest thing!!?? I just love these little girls!!!

She's stamped on a Perfect Paper Panel with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic markers, then matted with Riding Hood Red and Pacific Point. The patterned paper is from Graphic 45's Playtimes Past collection and is called Hopscotch. Not much needs explaining about this one I'm thinkin'.

I dressed up the inside and added the sentiment there.

Be mine

I've got a Valentine for you today, using another new PTI set that's so cute called Simple Valentine. And the paper is from a new collection by the same name. I totally CASEd the image from this card of Nicole's--loved the way she stacked the hearts--and stamped them three times. The bottom one is stamped, cut/embossed with a Classic Circle Nestabilities die, and then popped up on 3M foam squares, after running a Real Red (SU!) marker around the edge. SUPER simple, is this card, and I like it. Hope you do too! It would be a great one to mass produce.

You're on my mind

I have a good friend who's going through a very rough time right now and I thought maybe this would cheer her up just a tiny bit and let her know I'm thinking about her.

I think this is probably my first totally PTI card. It's not perfect, but not *too* bad for my first time using the background polka dots. I didn't notice it until I'd sewn all around so I just left it--'course it *would* be right at the top, LOL! I guess that just means I'll have to practice with them lots more to get it right ;-) And I love the gridded paper for using the Guidelines and Mega Guidelines stamps. It's a HUGE help! And did I mention I love the Guidelines--mega and otherwise? LOVE the little patterned paper I made. Yep, I'll be doing more of this, for sure.

Anyway, I stamped the polka dots with Spring Moss on Aqua Mist paper and the Guide Lines and Mega Guide Lines with Spring Moss and Aqua Mist on the Guidelines paper. I stamped the focal image from the new Blooming Button Bits on PTI white paper with Spring Moss and added Aqua Mist Vintage buttons.Then I cut/embossed it with a Classic Oval Nestabilities die and sponged the edges with Vintage Touch ink in Chai Tea. I tied Aqua Mist saddle stitched ribbon around in a bow and added the tag, cut/embossed with a Spellbinders Tags Trio die. I guess that's it. These background stamps really are a ton of fun! Can't wait to try them out again!

Hey there

I finally got a chance to play with my new Papertrey Ink stamps. Today I have one using Say It With Style and Background Basics: Text Style II and for my layout I'm using Mojo Monday Sketch #118.

This was a pretty easy card to make--once I decided on stamps and paper. My patterned paper is Green Tea Leaves. I stamped the image on Vintage Cream with Ripe Avocado and Ocean Tides ink and matted it with Ripe Avocado and Ocean Tides card stock and added a little ribbon strip. Then I stamped the text on a white (really cream) Prima flower in Ocean Tides, tied a couple of Vintage buttons on with some Vintage twine, and added a couple of punched out leaves. I'm liking it.

Love Birds - Crazy 4 Challenges #17

Happy day after Christmas and Boxing Day, peeps! Hope everyone had a smashing Christmas! It's another Crazy 4 Challenges day and our December hostess, Joanne, has a VERY fun sketch for us today.


I'm using images from My Favorite Thing's November kit called Love Birds. It's not too early to start making Valentine's Day cards so I decided I might as well get started. I stamped the images (the tree and birds are two separate images) on a Cream Perfect Paper Panel with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and colored it with Copic markers. Then I cut/embossed it with a Label Five Nestabilities die and popped it up on 3M foam squares. My patterned paper is from the Farmer's Market 8 x 8 pad from October Afternoon and my card stock is Kiwi Kiss and Very Vanilla. I punched the sentiment out with a SU! oval punch and matted it with more ovals using PTI's Aqua Mist card stock. A little ribbon and a PTI Vintage button and twine complete the sketch.

A Christmas Thank You - Stamp Simply #119

First of all, Merry Christmas to everyone in blogland!!! Hope your day is filled with friends, family, love, and good food :)

Today is also Stamp Simply day. For today's challenge, Sharon wants us to make a CAS Thank You note. Here's what she says:

Dec 25 - ssnotime119 -- Merry Christmas, Everyone! Hope you all had a fun time preparing for Christmas and that you can now rest and enjoy this Blessed Day with a sense of calm and relaxation. Today let's create some Clean and Simple Thank You Notes to send out. Any theme goes -- whatever you are in the mood for. And remember, there is no time limit -- so feel free to link here whenever you get some thank you notes made -- no rush! Relax and Enjoy this Christmas Day!!!

Since today *is* Christmas, I decided to squeeze in one more Christmas themed card. It's very simple and will be easy to make in multiples. First, I used SU! Brushed Silver card stock for the base and added a layer of Real Red. Then I embossed a piece of Whisper White with the Lace Tree folder and added a strip of silver and red ribbon. Then I stamped the sentiment from PTI's Signature Christmas set--you can't get a sentiment that would fit this challenge any better than this one, LOL--on Whisper White with Pure Poppy ink and cut/embossed it with a Petite Oval Nestabilities die. Then I edged it with a silver paint pen and popped it up on top of the ribbon with foam squares. Some flat back silver pearls at the corners finished it off. It's 'kinda' CAS, right?

Happy Christmas Eve!!! Hope everyone is done and able to relax and enjoy the holiday. I can't think of any better wish for you than the sentiment on this card.

I love PTI's quilt stamps and decided to do some in Christmas colors for this card. I stamped the squares on Kraft card stock with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and colored them with Copic markers. Then I punched them out with a 3/4" punch and matted them with squares cut/embossed with Classic Square Nestabilities. I did some scoring with my ScorPal for interest since this is "kinda" CAS.

My ribbon and button really match better IRL--not sure why I can't capture it better with my camera, but there it is ;-)

My Favorite Things' Wednesday Stamp Club

This week we're working with Pure Innocence - Fairy Girl and a template that Kim created. It's free and you can find it here.

For my card, I printed the template on Very Vanilla card stock and cut it out. Then I traced another copy on a piece of Cosmo Cricket's Earth Love patterned paper and cut it out a bit smaller. After sponging the edges of both I added some ribbon and a button tied on with twine. Using Soft Suede, I cut the "stems" with a Labels Eight Nestabilities die and cut it in half.

I stamped the little fairy image on a Perfect Paper Panel with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and paper pieced her dress and colored the rest with Copic markers. I heat embossed her wings with some SU! Iridescent Ice embossing powder. For the little star, I cut/embossed it with the smallest Star Nestabilities die, heat embossed it with more Iridescent Ice, and then trimmed the embossed part off because it really was a little too large in scale, I thought. Lastly, I popped the little fairy and the mushroom images up on Pop Dots.

For the inside of the card, I cut two strips of another pattern and contoured the bottom to match the card base, then I sandwiched the stem inbetween. I then stamped the sentiment and it was done! I love this sweet little image and I love this little card.

Happy Holidays

I have another Christmas card and for this one I'm using PTI's Tree Trimming Trio. I was totally inspired by this card by Debbie Olson. This was a quick and easy card--stamp the tree, tie on some buttons, and do the layers. Voila! And I love this gorgeous paper from Making Memories called Mistletoe. The colors are perfect with PTI's New Leaf and Scarlet Jewel cardstock. Buttons are PTI's Vintage buttons in Scarlet Jewel tied on with Rustic Cream Button Twine. I popped the smaller element up on 3M foam squares and then popped the tree up on them as well for more dimension. Easy peasy and I love the look!

Celebrate

I finally got around to doing another of the Seasonal Wreaths from Flourishes. I kept the card kind of plain since the main image is sort of busy.

I stamped the wreath on a Perfect Paper Panel with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored it with Copic markers, then put a heavy layer of Crystal Effects on the whole thing and cut it out after it dried. Then I popped it up with 3M foam squares on Whisper White, then Riding Hood Red, then popped the whole thing up on foam squares. The sentiment tag is actually a punched out ornament using a stamp from All That Glitters with Ruby Red ink stamped off twice, then I stamped the sentiment from Seasonal Wreaths with Memento Tuxedo Black on top of that.

I've already sent all my Christmas cards, now I guess I'm getting a head start on next year ;-)

Let it snow...

...and it did!!! We got the biggest snowfall we've had in YEARS on Friday/Saturday. It's gorgeous!! Nothing like the rest of the east coast got, but 8" is a lot for my area in south central Virginia. And if the weatherman has a clue, the temps are supposed to stay low enough that we *might* end up with a white Christmas for the first time in forever! Here are a few pictures from my yard:

Mailbox. VDOT (Virginia Department of Transportation) plowed my street during the night and piled all the snow from the entire street in front of our house. Think we'll get mail pickup tomorrow? I *do* appreciate that they got my street done so quickly, but they do this every time it snows enough to plow. You think *they'd* get a clue.

Got Candy? Crazy 4 Challenges #16

Are you ready for another Crazy 4 Challenges challenge? Today Joanne is challenging us to make a treat container--something that comes in handy this time of the year.

For my treat container, I totally CASEd this cute little candy dispenser that I recently saw on Julee Tillman's blog. I fell in love with it and this challenge gave me the perfect opportunity to do one like it. It would make a perfect little gifty treat for co-workers, teachers, etc.

I made the box using paper from the American Crafts 8 x 8 pack called Merrymints. The top and bottom were cut/embossed with a Classic Square Scalloped Nestabilities die. I stamped the image and sentiment, both from My Favorite Thing's December Kit called I Want Candy, on a Perfect Paper Panel with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and the image was colored with Copic markers and popped up on Pop Dots, then I tied a piece of Soft Sky double stitched ribbon around the box.

This little box was really easy and fun to do and most of the work is cutting it out. After that, it's a matter of a few strips of adhesive and embellishing.

CAS Snow - Stamp Simply #118

Christmas is fast approaching, so if you're still not done with your Christmas cards Sharon's got a challenge that's bound to help you git 'er done! Here's what she says:

Dec 18 - ssnotime118 - CAS Snow -- Today's challenge is to incorporate some snowy aspect to your creation. Use anything on your card that says SNOW -- anything wintery, snowy, icy, etc. Let's just get some white and sparkly snow on our cards. Some of us will have the real thing for Christmas and some won't, so lets just sprinkle some snow in cyberland today! And let's try for Clean and Simple today as well!

My card is quite simple and went together really fast! I planned it all in my head on my way home from work and wonders of wonders--it turned out pretty much exactly the way it looked in my head, LOL! That RARELY happens!

So, I liked a similar card I made last week so much I started out with the same Kraft base and built on that. I stamped the sentiment, from PTI's Signature Christmas on the Kraft top layer, then scored a couple of lines with my Scor Pal. Then I ran the top part through my Cuttlebug with the Snowflake folder and swiped a Fresh Snow ink pad over the raised design. That was a little too stark for the feel I wanted for this card, so I took a paper towel and sort of rubbed it into the card stock. Yes! That's what I wanted--just a subtle difference. Then I tied 7/8" black and ivory gingham ribbon from Sharon's store around and attached a bow and a black Vintage button with Jute Rustic Twine. Non-traditional colors, for sure, but I love it!

Gratitude is the memory of the heart - Color Throwdown #73

It's the last Color Throwdown of the year! Can you believe it? I sure can't! Our colors this week were chosen by my very talented friend, Tammy. She chose Always Artichoke, Cool Caribbean, Kiwi Kiss, and Real Red. Gorgeous colors together, that can be used for lots of different themes.

I stamped the sentiment on a Very Vanilla "tag" that I'd cut out with a Labels Four Nestabilities die and trimmed. No, this was not my original idea, LOL! I've seen it several places and it's a fabulous way to make a tag! Then I stamped the lovely flower under it and sponged the edges of the tag with Vintage Ink in Chamomile. I think the rest is pretty easy.

OK, are you back? My project uses the pull treat usually associated with a candy bar--I just adjusted the size to fit a package of microwave popcorn. Here's the tutorial that I used for it on SCS. Won't this make the best little treat giftie!? Think teachers, co-workers--anyone that you want to give just a little somethin' somethin' but you want it to be special. This will surely do the trick!

The tutorial will tell you exactly how to make it--just adjust for whatever treat you want to use, though it will have to be something flat. For my version, I stamped the image on a Perfect Paper Panel and colored it with Copic markers--with a little bit of paper piecing. I matted that totally fun popcorn paper with Basic Black, Real Red (SU!), and Lemon Tart (PTI) card stock, tied some red swiss dot ribbon around, and added the image and sentiment. The same ribbon works to pull the treat out of the "bag", too.
