I'm giving you a little taste of How Your Garden Grows today. I'm SO happy to have a new set with flowers--I love this set! SO many possibilities!! This card is also for the Crazy 4 Challenges challenge today, which is a sketch from Jessie, our hostess for July. See the C4C blog for all the details.

Dancing in the rain - Stamp Simply #150

Time for another Stamp Simply challenge! Are you ready? This week Sharon has a color combo for us. Here's what she says:

July 30 - ssnotime150 - A Color Challenge - As I say time and time again, color is my personal favorite for a challenge! This week's colors are Green and Yellow, with either White OR Ivory as your neutral, and adding a little Black to make it POP is always a favorite of mine! I think we'll see some striking creations with this color combo.

So, I immediately thought of Basic Grey's Origins paper--perfect!! I was lucky enough to win a free Verve set for the Mojo Monday contest for July so I chose Blue Skies. I'd had my eye on that set but hadn't ordered it--lucky me--I was so excited to get this set so I put it right to work on this card.

Don't you just love that little notebook paper image? Too cute!! It, the sentiment and the flourish were all stamped on patterned paper, as was the little butterfly, which was then cut out. Black twill and black buttons finish it off.

So, now it's your turn. Come along and play and take us up on the challenge--we'd love to see what you come up with. If you do, be sure to leave the link to your project on Sharon's blog using Mr. Linky. Please use the keyword ssnotime150 if you upload to a public forum. And don't forget to check out Sharon's fabulous sample and also the great designs from the Stamp Simply team and leave 'em some love!

Color Throwdown #103 & CAS-Tastic Wednesday

Are you ready for another Color Throwdown Challenge? Tammy chose this week's colors and I love 'em!!
It's also CAS-tastic Wednesday and the challenge for this week is to use bling!

I had so much fun making this card! First thing I did was to reach for my Webster's Pages 6 x 6 collections--I thought I remembered that these colors were in one of them and sure 'nuff they were. Simple, simple layout, letting the paper do most of the work. All I had to do was add the bling and I decided a rolled flower, using MFT's Rolled Flower Die-namics die and some die cut leaves would be just the ticket to round things out.

Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD103 so we can see your beauty all in one place. Hope to see you there! Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week!

Morning Glory - FTTC #77

It's time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge (FTTC77)! It is the end of the month so we have a challenge host. This month's host is Emily Keaton. Emily is challenging us to use Pins! All kinds of pins will do. Think stick pins, hat pins, safety pins, straight pins, diaper pins, even mini clothes pins or a brooch-style pin. We would love to see what you create!

I love making these beaded stick pins--they add such an elegant and feminine feel to a card, don't you think? I'm using the August flower from Flourishes A Year Of Flowers, Set 2 for my card--I know, I'm early with August, but it's almost here! I stamped it on Classic White card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored it with Copic markers. Not sure if you can tell, but the solid blue part of the base card was embossed with my Moroccan Screen Cuttlebug embossing folder for a little interest. I used a white paper doily for the circular element, tied some black twill around in a bow, and stuck the stick pin through the knot. The sentiment was stamped, punched out, embellished with a blue Dew Drop, and popped up on a foam square. I do love the flowers in these sets.

Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to go see what my team mates are doing with pins today! I hope you'll play along with us and our guest designer, Emily Keaton!

Girly, you rock! C4C #47

It's that time of week--time for another Crazy 4 Challenges challenge! Today Jessie has an awesome inspiration piece for us:

Look at that! So much going on--there's bound to be something for everybody in this piece, LOL! I chose to use the bright colors, the dots, and the black to inspire my creation.

I'm thinkin' this card is pretty dang simple to figure out. Everything except the black Pearle cotton is PTI. Simple layout and embellishments along with a rockin' sentiment. And there you have it!

Sooooo, NOW, be sure to check out the samples by the rest of my crazy girls...er, I mean the Crazy 4 Challenges team ;-)
THEN, you know what to do--we'd love to have you come along and play with us. Just do your thing with the challenge and link it to Mr. Linky on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Please link directly to your project. And, if you upload to a public gallery, please use the key word C4C47.

Thank you for being there - Stamp Simply #149

It's time to Stamp Simply! And I definitely did just that!

We've got an interesting challenge for you today. Here's what Sharon says:

July 23 - ssnotime149 - Two's Company - Deb Neerman provides a second challenge for us this month. Today Deb is suggesting that two's company ... three's a crowd? That's true this week because this week, we challenge you to use "2 of Something" on your card or other project. Some fun twosomes include: 2 different patterned papers, 2 different stamped images, 2 brads, 2 flowers, 2 bows, or 2 charms. Be creative ... but don't add that third 'something' ... only 2 are allowed! Have fun with this one!!!

This is harder than you think, LOL! OK, I used two patterned papers, two sewing stitches, two border dies (MFT Scalloped Scallop and Jumbo Scallop Die-namics dies), two leaves, two stamped images, and two buttons, from the MFT Spring Button Collection. I stamped the images from MFT's Thanks a Bunch set (temporarily out of stock) with Memento Rich Cocoa ink. The flower, which I was trying to make look like a Bachelor's Button or thistle, is made from several layers of card stock cut with the Sunshine Die-namics die. The leaves were punched out, folded in half, and run through my paper crimper.

So, now it's your turn. Come along and play and take us up on the challenge--we'd love to see what you come up with. If you do, be sure to leave the link to your project on Sharon's blog using Mr. Linky. Please use the keyword ssnotime149 if you upload to a public forum. And don't forget to check out Sharon's fabulous sample and also the great designs from the Stamp Simply team and leave 'em some love!

Not Quite Wild Marina? Color Throwdown #102/CAS-tastic Wednesday

[If you're looking for my MFT VIP Blog Hop project, please scroll down to the next post. Thanks!]

Yeah, it's a lame title--but it's all I could come up with. It's time again for Color Throwdown. This week LeAnne chose the colors...
So, what do you think? Two blues--they threw me.

The CAS-fantastic Wednesday Challenge for this week is All Things Summer so I decided to go with flowers. That's summer, right? I started by stamping a card base of PTI Vintage White card stock with an image from Turning a New Leaf in Wild Wasabi. I don't have any of the new SU! colors yet, so LeAnne generously gifted me with a sheet of Marina Mist. It really is a gorgeous blue. I stamped a strip of it with Polka Dot Basics II in Not Quite Navy. Then I tied a piece of twill around and added a folded scallop flower and two rolled flowers using MFT's Rolled Flower Die-namics die. Finally, I added some punched out leaves and called it good!

My Favorite Things VIP Blog Hop!

It's My Favorite Things' VIP Blog Hop time!! If you got here from Sherrie's blog you're right on track. If not, do yourself a favor and head on over to Kim's blog 'cause that's the beginning--you won't want to miss anything.

Here's what's in the August VIP package:

Set of 10 Scalloped A2 Notecards in Black Linen $4.85
Garden Goodness mini stamp set (FREE, $9 value)

Additional release on VIP night:
Strawberry Carton and Strawberries Template $3.95

What a bunch of goodness!!

For my project I decided that since it was beginning to be harvest time around my garden I'd share a tried and true recipe to use up that abundance of tomatoes that you might have. This spaghetti sauce is a staple in my pantry and it also makes a great gift. Here's a gift set I've put together to show off this fabulous set.

The card uses the new WTG image with a basket of tomatoes. There are also apple, peach, and strawberries for her basket and a bunch of great sentiments. The image was stamped on a Perfect Paper Panel with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and colored with Copic markers and paper pieced.

I love it when I get a gift from someone's kitchen and they include the recipe. So here's a gussied up recipe card with the WTG image. Now, I don't know this lady personally, but I've been using her recipe for years and she knows good spaghetti sauce ;-) The recipe actually came to me from a co-worker--I assume she knows the author, LOL.

I had to make a purty label for the jar, right?

And a tag for the top. I took one of the 'maters from the basket, finished drawing it with a Copic multiliner pen, colored it and added it to the tag.

And finally, here's the inside of the card with a sentiment from the VIP mini set, Garden Goodness.

Other MFT supplies I used are: Whip Cream, Sour Apple, and Red Hot card stock, Twill Ribbon Collection, Open Scallop and Framed Greetings Die-namics Dies, and Earth Girl Buttons.

Thank you! Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge #76

It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge (FTTC76)! This week yours truly is the host and I have an Inspiration Challenge for you! I've chosen one gorgeous picture to get you inspired by for your card making. You can obviously recreate the look or be inspired by the colors or other elements in the photo. We would love to see what you create!

And here's the inspiration piece I chose:

I just love the colors in this--so fresh and summery, don't you think? So for my card, I chose a very summery set--Flourishes Humming Along. We have these Ruby Throated humming birds at our house--we put out several feeders for them and they are such entertaining little rascals!

I stamped the images on Classic White card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored it with Copic markers. I thought that gorgeous image (two images, really--the Trumpet Vine and the hummer are two separate images) didn't need much embellishment so I pretty much embraced the white space--I think the card construction is pretty obvious.

This card also works for the SCS Dirty Dozen Central theme this month and DTGT10rsalamon, DTGD10AmberDawn01, DTGD10gbedwright, DTGDflowergal36. If you're a fan club member you can get the details here. If you're not, consider joining so you can get in on all the fun this week!

Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to go see what my team mates are doing with the inspiration piece today! I hope you'll play along with us!

Button, button, who's got the button? C4C46

It's time for another Crazy 4 Challenges challenge! Today Jessie is challenging us to use buttons. Um, yeah, I can do buttons ;-)

This card sorta started out with a tongue-in-cheek take on the challenge. You know, you want buttons? I'll give you buttons, LOL! But the more I worked on it the more I really LOVE how it turned out! I got this strip of crocheted cotton lace--with all those buttons attached--at Hobby Lobby several months back, just knowing one day I'd find a use for it. It was super expensive by the yard, so I only got 1 foot of it--enough for two cards...or one if I messed the first one up, LOL. Anyway, the card is really simple--this paper from Basic Grey's Kioshi 6 x 6 pad matched the buttons perfectly so I went with it. With all those buttons, nothing much else was needed, so I tied a length of vintage seam binding around and stamped this Verve sentiment at the top with Versafine Vintage Sepia ink. I knew I'd need a good impression since it was going to be stamped on patterned paper and Versafine leaves a very sharp impression.

And, if you upload to a public gallery, please use the key word C4C46.

Thanks so much for dropping in today! Can't wait to see what you create with buttons!

We have a sponsor this week: Some Odd Girl Digi Stamps! You can get the low down about the prize at the C4C blog.

MFT's Greatest Hits - Amanda Baird

It's time for another MFT's Greatest Hits! This month we're doing Amanda Baird sets. I'm using images from Love At First Sight, which is temporarily out of stock. At 11:00am there'll be a list of the Creative Team members who have projects to share today at Kim's blog, so be sure and hop over there to get the links.

For my card base I'm using paper from Basic Grey's Wags and Whiskers 6 x 6 set with a Fossil Scalloped Note Card and Blue Bayou card stock. I added a Jumbo Scallop Die-namics (also temporarily out of stock) border and some twine and buttons from the Chocolate Kiss collection for a little accent and ran a strip of black twill across the whole thing. I stamped my image on a Cream Perfect Paper Panel with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and colored with Copic markers. Then I cut/embossed with a Classic Circle Nestabilities die, trimming the bottom off. Then I matted it with Bayou Blue card stock and popped it up on Pop Dots. I stamped the sentiment on more Cream Perfect Paper Panel and popped it up as well.

Thanks for stopping by! Can't wait to see what the rest of the Creative Team does with these stamps, can you?!

Sketch Simply??

Are you ready to Stamp Simply? Sharon has a fun and very simple sketch for us this week. Here's what she says:

July 16 - ssnotime148 - A CAS Sketch - Today we are offering a Clean and Simple Sketch for you to follow. I love to see the different looks achieved by using the same basic sketch -- and that said, you can go CAS if you prefer OR you can dress up this basic sketch as much as you like! It'll be fun to see the variances!

Here's the sketch:

And here's my card.

This is a sketch that can be interpreted in lots of ways--I chose to go CAS and I broke the top element into four images. My base card is Kraft. The first element is Hawaiian Shores card stock with a layer of Dotty Biscotti paper. I stamped the three birds from Take Three - Summer in Hawaiian Shores ink on Kraft and cut them out with Classic Square Nestabilities, then popped them up on Pop Dots. The sentiment was stamped with Dark Chocolate ink. Finally, I added some Hawaiian Shores buttons tied with Rustic Twine and a Hawaiian Shores twill bow. Stamped very simply and I like it :)

So, now it's your turn. Come along and play and take us up on the challenge--we'd love to see what you come up with. If you do, be sure to leave the link to your project on Sharon's blog using Mr. Linky. Please use the keyword ssnotime148 if you upload to a public forum. And don't forget to check out Sharon's fabulous sample and also the great designs from the Stamp Simply team and leave 'em some love!

It's à la modes hop time!

So, what do you think of these insanely cute girlies? I know, I KNOW!!! Well, now you can get them in your hot little hands--they are officially released and ready for sale at My Favorite Things right here! If you got here from Sherrie's blog, you're right on track. If not, you *need* to double back to Kim's blog where you can get the deets and where the hop starts. Here's a few things about this new line of stamps:
  • à la modes will be available only in rubber
  • Each set is produced in the USA using the highest quality rubber, with the deepest etch possible.
  • Each image and sentiment is backed on cling foam and scroll cut, making it ready for stamping right out of the bag!
  • Packaged in a clear hang bag, we've also provided the ideal storage solution by including a thick laminated header card in each set that can be used to store the stamp set, in its entirety, after purchase.
  • $10.95 for the 3 x 4" set.
OK, so here's my card. I'm using à la modes in Birthday Girl tonight.

I searched around for a cupcake card template and, while there are plenty out there, none really was what I was looking for--so you know I had to make my own :) I stamped the image on a Perfect Paper Panel with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and colored it with Copic markers--this time I paper pieced the cupcake top. Then I cut her out and popped her up on Pop Dots. I ran More Mustard through my paper crimper and then cut it out and layered it on the card base. Then I cut out the top and popped it up on Pop Dots as well to add a little dimension to that. I cut out some trim with my Jumbo Ric Rac die and embossed it with my Ribbon RE:Creations Grograin Texture Plate, attached it to the top and added a ribbon and bow. The sentiment pieces are punched out and popped on. Other MFT products I used are: Sweet Tooth and Wild Cherry card stock.

Here's the inside with another sentiment from the set:
