Countdown Kickoff!! Five Days until MFT's May Release!

Hello and welcome to the first day of
MFT’s May Release Countdown!! I hope everyone is well and coping with the quarantine. Release is on May 5 at 10am Eastern so mark your calendars—it’s something to look forward to, amiright? And be sure to stop by the MFT Blog for all the details. Today we’re previewing BB Hanging with My Gnomies Stamp Set, BB Hanging with My Gnomies Die-namics, BB Gnome Place like Home Die-namics, Good Luck Greetings Stamp Set, Good Luck Greeting Die-namics, Rainbow Whimsy Die-namics (Free with $60), and Woodgrain Whimsy Paper Pad.

It’s been a pretty good while since I did a box card and I thought this adorable BB Gnome Place like Gnome Die-namics would work a treat for it. So I started by creating my box with its shelves and decorated the outside using Mini Cloud Edges Stencil and Grassy Fields Die-namics.

Then I cut the gnome house from card stock (see colors below) and assembled it. I colored the mushrooms with Copic markers and a white gel pen, added grass on the shelves and lots of mushrooms.

The sentiment and ladybugs are from BB Hanging with my Gnomies Stamp Set and Die-namics. The sentiment was heat embossed on Milk Chocolate card stock and popped up on foam as were the ladybugs.

And that’s it from me today! Thanks so much for stopping by! See you back tomorrow for Day Four of MFT’s May Release Countdown!

You are Mermazing–MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #487

Hi, everyone, I’m back with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

I decided to treat the two round elements as windows on an undersea scene for this card. I started by cutting the windows in a panel of Sweet Tooth card stock using Inside & Out Stitched Circle STAX Die-namics then dry embossed light rays using Ray of Light Stencil.

Next I sponged the underwater background using Broken China and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Inks on Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper, also using Ray of Light Stencil, lining it up with the card front embossing. I splattered some clean water and white craft paint for some interest then adhered that panel to a Sweet Tooth card stock base and popped the card front up on that with foam tape.

The images were stamped on No Line Coloring card stock with Extreme Black hybrid ink, cut out with the coordinating Die-namics, colored with Copic markers, then popped up on foam or adhered directly, finishing off with a heat embossed sentiment, stamped on Black Licorice card stock

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the MFT Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. Winners are chosen at random, so everyone has a chance!

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!

Hello There, Beautiful–Color Throwdown Challenge #591

Hello and welcome to a new
Color Throwdown Challenge!! This week Amy Rysavy is our hostess and she’s chosen a monochromatic color palette for us to work with.

I rarely do monochromatic designs so a challenge every now and then is good for me, right? I already had a design in mind as I’d decided to seriously CASE this card by my amazing MFT teammate Laura Dovalo the first chance I had—I didn’t know it would be this soon, but I love how it turned out with these colors! Thanks for the idea, Laura!!

I started with a Sweet Tooth card stock base, on which I adhered paper from Birthday Brights paper pad, then worked on another panel of Sweet Tooth card stock for the card front. I cut Bold Beautiful Die-namics from Boysenberry, Razzle Berry, and Cotton Candy card stocks and piece the letters until I was happy. Once that was done I popped that up on the card base with foam tape.

The sentiment is from More Essential Sentiments, heat embossed on Boysenberry card stock that were cut with Stitched Sentiment Strips Die-namics and popped up on foam. Enamel dots in the challenge colors finished it off.

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD591 so we can see your beauty all in one place, and use #ctd591 and #colorthrowdown on social media. Hope to see you there! Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week along with our April Guest Designer, Judy Rozema!

You’re One of a Kind–MFT April Hits & Highlights

The purrfect pets in the Caticorn collection are already pretty magical. Beyond your typical coloring however, their horns, tails, and cute little bodies present an excellent opportunity for you to play with other techniques as well. Up the fairy-tale factor by choosing a whimsical palette of colors (our pick is rainbow, obviously!), adding glitter or sparkles, or even imparting a dainty pattern! Our designers are up to the task and we can’t wait to share what they’ve created this month.

As soon as I saw this challenge I knew I was going to paper piece one of the kitties! I chose Spring Whimsy paper pack for this thinking to make a play on words with this “calico” kitty! So, that’s the first thing I did, coloring the horn—and the rainbow--with Copic markers and covering the both images with clear Wink of Stella for some light shimmer. To present them, I sponged a background on Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper with Broken China Distress Ink, added grounding grass cut from more Spring Whimsy paper with Grassy Fields Die-namics. I created a little scene, surrounding it with Gold Sparkle card stock cut with A2 Rectangle Frames Die-namics using foam tape for dimension.

To finish off I added the sentiment, heat embossed on Translucent Vellum card stock cut with Skinny Strip Die-namics, adhered with clear foam tape.

And there you have it from me—thanks so much for stopping by today! See you soon!
