Wishing You a Joyous Season–MFTWSC #100

MFTWSC100_2012nov28

Hey there, it’s me, back again with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch, and here we are at sketch #100!!! Woohoo!! You can find the sketch on the MFT blog and also in the MFT forum on SCS, as well as in the weekly newsletter. The Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

MFTWSC100

As you can see, I went A2 and flipped the sketch for my card. I stamped the sentiment, from Seasonal Sentiments, on patterned paper and popped it up. I added the two little tiny Whip Cream buttons, tied with hemp cord and following the sketch, and cut a flag using the flag die from Die-namics Airplane Greetings Die Only. I also tied around some twill, with a Wild Cherry button tied on with more hemp cord. I did a little distressing, with a tool and ink, and it was done!

Here’s the inside, with another sentiment from the set:

Merry Christmas–CTD #220

CTD220_2012nov28

Hi, everyone! Are you ready for another Color Throwdown Challenge! This week, the amazing Wanda chose this gorgeous color palette, based on her inspiration piece.

swatch 220

I went all scrappy with my card for today. I started with a
Kraft card stock base, then added a Whip Cream card stock Die-namics High Tea Party Doily die cut, Next up I added a few patterned paper hexagons made with my Die-namics Hexagons die and then a bling-y flourish. Next, I cut out a Die-namics LLD Insert It – 3 x 4 Insert from patterned paper and stamped it with LLD Journal It – Calendar Basics. I then cut out a couple of circles with my Die-namics Circle STAX and stamped “25” using my Typewriter Alphabet set and popped it up on foam at the appropriate place. The sentiment, from Clearly Sentimental About Christmas was stamped on a Die-namics Fishtail Flags Layers STAX die cut and embellished with a Blue Raspberry button and some hemp cord. To finish it off, I added holly leaves and berries, made with my Die-namics Jumbo Stocking set.

Here’s the inside with another sentiment from the set:

MFT November Creative Challenge–Holiday Home Decor

creativechallengeframe_2012nov27

The MFT Design Team Creative Challenge is a monthly feature, where we are challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product, or technique. This month, we were challenged to create Holiday Home Decor using our MFT Stamps and Die-namics.  Be sure to check out the MFT Blog for a list of all participating designers who have a project to share with you today.

Hi, everyone! This challenge was so timely for me! I make lots of home décor items anyway, so, two birds, one stone!

First up, a framed piece. I stained my $1 Michaels frame with Barn Door Distress Stain and then streaked it up with some Vintage Photo Distress Stain for the aged look. While that was drying, I started on the image to be framed. I cut some music patterned paper to fit the opening, sponged the edges, then constructed my Die-namics Winter Wreath of three layer of patterned paper. After I adhered it to the music paper, I added some red jewels for berries, then popped up one of the new Die-namics Dainty Bows, made with Red Hot card stock. Here’s a close up of the wreath.

The sentiment is from Clearly Sentimental About Christmas, and was stamped on Natural card stock, sponged, and popped up on foam. Here’s a close up.

Notice my garland? I decided to see if I could use the wreath to make a garland and I love how it turned out! I simply cut out the wreath, tore it apart so I had one long piece, and just sort of carefully manipulated it so it was more or less in a straight line. Then I adhered it to the frame and added more jewels. Easy peasy! Here’s a close up of the garland, with two layers.

OK, I know banners were the theme of last month’s Creative Challenge but, well, you know I love banners! And they definitely qualify as home décor, right?

creativechallengburlap_2012nov27

This time I went Shabby Chic, or as I saw it described the other day, Vintage Hip. Love that! I started by cutting some burlap fabric out with my Die-namics Jumbo Banner Day STAX. I cut two for each pennant and zig zag stitched them together. I added a smaller size of STAX to the back (just adhered with my tape runner) for some stability since burlap is so loosely woven.

Then I made some medallions using my Die-namics 1/4” Rosette die and glittered up the edges with some German glass glitter, added a Die-namics Mini Doily Circles die cut and popped up a Die-namics By the Letters letter. I added a Die-namics Royal Rose and Die-namics Royal Leaves to some pennants…

…and a Die-namics Let It Snowflake and Die-namics Mini Royal Rose to others.

I connected the headers together by hot gluing some ribbon across the tops as a base, then I made a braid from some heavy jute cord and some tinsel twine, then hot glued that on top of the ribbon. To finish it off, I added a seam binding bow and a hemp cord-tied button between each pennant. Here it is hanging on the shelf that will be it’s home during the Christmas season :) LOVE the contrast of the burlap and glitter!

And, finally, another little banner. I hadn’t had a chance to use the new Die-namics Jumbo Stocking so I got it out for this one. I used several shades of dark blue for it because I’m going to use with some other cobalt blue decorations.

creativechallengestocking_2012nov27

For the two outer stockings, I added the holly leaves and berries that are part of the set. I cut the letters out of silver glitter paper with, again, Die-namics By the Letters and popped them up on a Die-namics Circle STAX layered on a Die-namics Open Scallop Doily Duo die cut.

For the center stocking, I did the same, but also added a Die-namics Winter Wreath cut from metallic silver paper and added a little gingham bow to finish it off.

The stocking are attached to the ribbon/tinsel twine hanger with clothes pins cover with glitter paper and in-between the stockings there’s a clear faceted button tied on with silver cord.

Here are the Die-namics dies I used on these projects:

Have a Bright Sunshiny Day

farmhousedaisy_2012nov26

Hi, all! Today I have another card using products from eclectic Paperie. I’m using Wendy Vecchi’s Wildflower Art Stamp Set again. This is the second flower image in the set and it was stamped on some patterned paper with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and colored with Copic markers. The rich paper I’m using is from the Farmhouse Paper Company - Fair Skies 6x6 Paper Pad. I also used some Vintage Photo Distress Ink and my Inkssentials Foam Blending Tool to sponges around the edges and tied the button on with some gorgeous new baker’s twine from The Twinery - Midnight Blue. I used some Scotch Foam Mounting Tape to pop up the image panel.

And that’s it for me today! Thank SO much for stopping by! New things are popping up in the eclectic Paperie store. Be sure to check out all the new awesomeness HERE.
