Sweet Winter Wishes–MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #413

MFTWSC414_2018nov28

Hi, everyone, I’m back with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

MFT_WSC_413

I thought a row of sweet trees would be a great idea for this sketch, flipped on it’s side. So, first I sponged the night sky with Cornflower and After Midnight Premium Dye Inks and splattered the sky full of stars with some slightly watered down Copic Opaque White and a small art brush, then set it aside to dry.

MFTWSC414_2018nov28b

Next I stamped the trees from BB Ready, Set, Snow Stamp Set, colored them with Copic markers and fussy cut them out so they were more “natural” looking, and added snow by brushing on more Copic Opaque White. I added Stitched Snow Drifts (flipped so the stitching didn’t show) with a sentiment from Snow Globe Sentiments and popped it up on foam tape to ground the trees, which were also popped up on foam tape.

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the
MFT Challenge Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. One winner is chosen at random each week!

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!

Fa La La–Color Throwdown Challenge #521

CTD521_2018nov28

Hello and welcome to a brand new Color Throwdown Challenge! This week Amy Rysavy is our hostess and she’s challenging us to some neutrals bases on her sparkly Christmas inspiration piece.

swatch521

So, I pondered a while and decided to go with some Christmas “greenery” but in gray ;-) I decided to use a silver frame for my stamping so first I drew around the frame lightly with pencil so I’d have some boundaries for the stamping. Next I stamped the sentiment from Hand-Lettered Holiday Greetings on a Sweet Tooth card stock panel. Then I penciled in some lines for my greenery and stamped it using Cement Gray Premium Dye Ink.

CTD521_2018nov28b

Next I drew in some black berries with a black Copic multiliner and matted it with Black Licorice card stock and popped them up on a Sweet Tooth card stock base with foam tape. For the finish I adhered the frame, also on foam tape.

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the
Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD521 so we can see your beauty all in one place, and use #ctd521 and #colorthrowdown on social media. Hope to see you there! Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week, along with our super talented Guest Designer, Caly Person!

Merry & Bright–MFT November Hits & Highlights

hitsandhighlights_2018nov27

Hello and welcome to MFT’s November Hits & Highlights feature! This month we’re focusing on Christmas: “Christmas is really a full season for many of us, not a single day, so if you’re still thinking of whipping up some holiday cards, we’ve got you covered. Hits & Highlights this month is all about the bringing the feel of winter to your holiday with a cool palette featuring blues and purples…bring a little shiver of delight with wintry colors evocative of falling snow and twinkling lights.”

Print

So, I went all snowflake-y for my card ;-) I started by sponging the background using Blue Breeze, Cornflower, and After Midnight Premium Dye inks, then spritzed it with some glitter spray. I got a few splatters but decided I actually liked the look so kept it. The spray really added a ton of frosty shimmer that I couldn’t capture in the photo. Before I did that, though, I stamped the sentiment from Hand-Lettered Holiday with Versamark and heat embossed with silver detail embossing powder.

hitsandhighlights_2018nov27b

When that was all done and dry, I popped it up with foam tape on a Sweet Tooth card stock base, Then I cut some Stylish Snowflakes and Let it Snowflake Too Die-namics from Silver Sparkle card stock and adhered them with liquid glue for the finish. Definitely a design that could be easily massed produced.

And that’s it from me—love this month’s theme! Be sure to stop by the MFT Blog to see what some of my team mates have for you today. Thanks so much for stopping by! See you soon!

Let the Adventure Begin–Crazy 4 Challenges #462

C4C462_2018nov24

Hi, all and welcome to my final card as Guest Designer for the Crazy 4 Challenges Challenge! It’s been a ton of fun and I hope they’ll have me back again! Here’s this week’s challenge: “Last week, on the 17 th, it was Take a Hike Day. Be inspired by a hiking theme. You could create a scenic card or have one with hiking boots. Use your imagination to create a card related to hiking.”

OK, I have exactly zero stamp sets related to hiking so I did an outdoors-y design instead using
MFT’s Beary Big Adventure Stamp Set and Die-namics. If was suggested to me that my sweet bear is taking a break from hiking—totally works for me, LOL!

I began by creating my sky background using Mini Cloud Edges Stencil and Blue Breeze dye ink and adhered it to a Sweet Tooth card stock base after stamping the sentiment. Then I added Snow-Capped Mountains Die-namics, minus the snow, and Grassy Edges Die-namics for the foreground.

C4C462_2018nov24b

The images were all stamped with Extreme Black hybrid ink on No Line Coloring Card Stock, cut out with the coordinating Die-namics, colored with Copic markers, and added to the scene. Foam tape was used for dimension.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope to see you playing along at the
Crazy 4 Challenges blog this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week, too!

Miss You–MFT Color Challenge #106

MFTCPC106_2018nov22

Hi, all, I'm back with the latest MFT Color Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s color combo: Jellybean Green, Kraft, Persimmon, and Hot Fudge. All of the details about the color challenge are available on the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

Print

These colors speak Fall to me but to be honest, I about done with Fall stamping so I went with something kind of generic. I hadn’t shown Puzzle Cover Up Die-namics any love lately so I got it out and cut all the colors from one of the sections. I arranged them randomly on my Sweet Tooth card stock card base, some adhered directly and some popped up on foam tape.

MFTCPC106_2018nov22b

Then I cut Miss You Die-namics from Gold Shine card stock and twice from scrap white card stock, stacked them up, adhered with spray adhesive, and then adhered it to the card front, overlapping some of the puzzle pieces. To finish off I added some enamel dots in the challenge colors.

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the MFT Challenge Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. One winner is chosen at random each week!

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!

Warmest Wishes–MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #412

MFTWSC412_2018nov21

Hi, everyone, I’m back with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

MFT_WSC_412

OK, peeps, I was majorly stumped with this sketch! I swear I spent over an hour brainstorming ideas and until I flipped it on it’s side I was getting nowhere! After I flipped it and started visualizing “tall” elements instead of “long” elements I was on my way! To begin, I stamped the trees from PI Sending Blessings Stamp Set, staggering placement to vary height a little, on Stone Gray card stock then added the cardinal from Delightful Deer Die-namics and splattered everything with slightly watered down Copic Opaque White.

MFTWSC412_2018nov21b

Next I grounded the trees with a strip of Sweet Tooth card stock cut with Stitched Snow Drifts Die-namics and a strip of Birthday Blowout Paper pack, following the sketch. I stamped the sentiment from Snow Globe Sentiments at the bottom of a Sweet Tooth card stock base, then popped the whole card front on it with foam tooth.

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the
MFT Challenge Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. One winner is chosen at random each week!

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!

Happy Birthday–Color Throwdown Challenge #520

CTD520_2018nov21

Hello and welcome to a brand new Color Throwdown Challenge! This week Wanda is our hostess and she’s got some neutrals for us to work with.

swatch520

I thought these colors would work for a masculine card so I went with a birthday card that could really go for either. I started with a Kraft card stock base, then lightly stamped Happy Birthday Background with Milk Chocolate dye ink in a distressed manner on a panel of Primitive White card stock and popped it up on the base with foam tape. Next I added Stitched Oval Frames Die-namics, cut from Milk Chocolate card stock and also popped up on foam.

CTD520_2018nov21b

Next I added the sentiment from BB Greetings Galore Stamp Set stamped with Milk Chocolate dye ink on Kraft card stock cut with Stitched Fishtail Sentiment Strips and adhered with foam tape. I cut Grand Greenery from Jellybean Green card stock and tied the individual fronds together with hemp cord, then adhered them for the finish.

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. Best Fishes for a Cool Holiday Season–Crazy 4 Challenges #461

C4C461_2018nov17

Hi everyone, today I have another Crazy 4 Challenges card and this one’s a sketch. Love the classic design of this sketch.

C4C461Sketch

I decided to create a little scene within the circle element so I cut the circle out of some Sweet Tooth card stock with Inside & Out Stitched Circle STAX Die-namics, stamped the sentiment from the recently released Beary Best Friends Stamps Set, and popped it up on some Ranger Watercolor paper on which I did a watercolor background. I adhered all that to a Sweet Tooth card stock base and proceeded.

C4C461_2018nov17b

The images were stamped with Extreme Black hybrid ink on No Line Coloring card stock, cut out with the coordinating Die-namics, colored with Copic markers, and popped up in the scene on foam tape. I added some Puffy Clouds and Icebergs Die-namics to complete the scene.

And that’s it from me today. Hope to see you playing along with us this week at
Crazy 4 Challenges. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week, too!

birthdayproject_2018nov15

Hello and welcome to MFT’s November Birthday Project! The party animals in your life will appreciate you including animals of the truly wild variety for this month’s challenge. Lions and tigers, zebras and giraffes, hippos and elephants…you’re sure to discover the perfect animal addition for your next birthday look. Go wild!

Print

I love Jungle Vibes Stamp Set and Die-namics and it’s perfect for this challenge! To start with, I sponged the sky with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink on Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper, then added some hills with Snow Drifts Die-namics cut from Kraft card stock. Then I popped up a “frame” cut from Sweet Tooth card stock with Stitched Arch STAX Die-namics and went from there. I added Puffy Clouds Die-namics and a sun from Beach Scene Builder Die-namics and Grassy Edges Die-namics cut from Sour Apple and Gumdrop Green card stocks.

birthdayproject_2018nov15b

The images were stamped on No Line Coloring card stock with Extreme Black hybrid ink, cut out with the coordinating Die-namics, colored with Copic markers, and added to the scene. The sentiment was heat embossed on Black Licorice card stock cut with Hearts in a Row – Horizontal Die-namics. Dimension was created with foam tape.

And that’s it for MFT’s November Birthday Project feature. Thanks so much for stopping by today—see you soon!!
