Weather with You, MFT February Card Kit, Countdown, Day Two

Hello and welcome to Day Two of MFT's February card kit, Weather with You. Release is on February 23rd, at 10am so made a note. And be sure to stop by the MFT Blog for all the detail.

I love creating scenes and weather scenes are no different. Especially if I have a sentiment to tie it to and this new set has a great one! How sweet, right??? For this card, I first stamped the images with Extreme Black hybrid ink on No Line Coloring card stock, cut them out with the coordinating Die-namics, and colored them with Copic markers.

Next I created my background by splitting a piece of Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper in half, sponging one side with Pumice Stone Distress Ink and then went back over it with more Pumice Stone Distress Ink and Mini Cloud Edges Stencil. The other side was sponged with the same stencil and Broken China Distress Ink. The bottom was sponged with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink through Grassy Edges Stencil.

The raindrops were stamped on the cloudy side and the panel was adhered with foam tape on a Sweet Tooth card stock base. The images were popped up on foam tape and the sentiment was heat embossed on Eiffel Tower card stock with white detail embossing powder and also popped up on foam.

And that's all for me today! Thanks so much for stopping by--see you back tomorrow for Day One of MFT's February Weather with You Card Kit Countdown.

There's No Otter Like You - MFT February Outside the Box Challenge

The great outdoors provides endless inspiration for your cards. With so many natural elements available to create layers and depth, a box card is a natural choice for showcasing your outdoor scenes. Shelf dies provide the perfect opportunity to craft a base for your designs quickly. From lush green hills to icy slopes to sky-high clouds, a scene-building accessory to achieve your vision is just a click away. This month, our designers are sharing their outdoor box card scenes — take a peek and then share your own creations!

Spring is not far off and I'm dreaming of spending time outside after being cooped up for what seems like forever!! So I planned out this darling scene of a river complete with river bank and adorable otters.

To begin I cut Outside the Box and Outside the Box Level Up Die-namics for the box base. I added the sky background by sponging Mini Cloud Edges Stencil on Sweet Tooth card stock with Broken China Distress ink. To this I added Birch Trees Die-namics cut from Sweet Tooth card stock, A2 Circle STAX cut from Lemon Drop card stock and Petite Clouds Die-namics also cut from Sweet Tooth card stock.

Images from BB Otterly Love You Stamp Set were stamped on No Line Coloring card stock with Extreme Black hybrid ink, colored with Copic markers, and fussy cut out.
Next i added Outside the Box Grassy Fields cut from Sour Apple card stock at the back along with some rocks.

The shelves were created by cutting Outside the Box Waves Die-namics from Summer Splash card stock and adhered with 1/4" ScorTape. Images were adhered with foam tape and the two flying fish with clear acetate strips.

More Outside the Box Grassy Hills Die-namics cut from Sour Apple card stock was adhered to the front. The sentiment was heat embossed on Black Licorice card stock cut with Fishtail Foundations Die-namics, popped up on foam tape for the finish.

I Celebrate You Every Day - MFT Color Challenge #160

Hi, all, I'm back with the latest MFT Color Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s color combo: Tropical Teal, Ripe Raspberry, Milk Chocolate, and Kraft. All of the details about the color challenge are available on the MFT Blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

I hadn't used the recently released RAM Birthday Cutie Stamp Set and Die-namics and I thought she would work wonderfully for this challenge. First of all, I stamped the image on No Line Coloring card stock with Extreme Black hybrid ink, cut it out with the coordinating Die-namics, and colored her in the challenge colors.

Next i created the background by sponging Broken China and Gathered Twigs Distress Inks on Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper and adhered it to a Sweet Tooth card stock base with foam tape.

The only thing left to do was to pop the image up on foam tape on the card front and finish off with enamel dots.

And there you have it! Now it’s YOUR turn to play! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the MFT Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. Winners are chosen at random, so everyone has a chance!

I'm Glad You're in My Orbit - MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #530

Hi, everyone, I’m back with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

I thought the two off-center elements could look like orbiting planets or moons so I got out Best Friends in the Universe Stamp Set and Die-namics for this card. To begin, I sponged the background on Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper, cut with Slimline Starter Die-namics, using Broken China, Blueprint Sketch, Chipped Sapphire, and Black Soot Distress Inks. When dry, I covered it with Ranger Micro Glaze and then spattered it with diluted white craft paint for the stars and adhered it to a Sweet Tooth card stock base.

The images from Blastoff Buddies Stamp Set were stamped on No Line Coloring card stock with Extreme Black Hybrid ink, cut with the coordinating Die-namics, and colored with Copic markers. The moon was created by cutting Chantilly Cream card stock with A2 Circle STAX and stamping with Distressed Patterns and Cement Gray dye ink.

The moon and images were adhered on the sky background directly and with foam tape. The sentiment was heat embossed on Black Licorice card stock cut with Skinny Strips Die-namics and popped up on foam for the finish.

And there you have it! Now it’s YOUR turn to play! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the MFT Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. Winners are chosen at random, so everyone has a chance!

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!

Wishing You the Happiest Birthday - Color Throwdown Challenge #631

Hello and welcome to a brand new Color Throwdown Challenge! This week Amy Rysavy is our hostess and she's chosen some gorgeous colors for us to play with.

I thought these colors would be good used with these delicate flowers from Mother's Day Bouquet Stamp Set and Die-namics--AND, I needed to show them some love so here we are.

To begin, I stamped the images on No Line Coloring card stock with Extreme Black hybrid ink, cut them out with the coordinating Die-namics, colored them with Copic markers, then set them aside. Next I added strips of Black & White Stripes Patterned Paper on each side of a Sweet Tooth card stock base.

Then, on a Sweet Tooth card stock panel, I stamped Happiest Birthday Stamp Set with Caribbean Sea dye ink, adhered it to the card base with foam tape and popped the stamped and colored images up on that, also with foam tape.

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword #CTD631 so we can see your beauty all in one place, and use #ctd631 and #colorthrowdown on social media. Hope to see you there! Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week!

February MFT Slimline Challenge - Birthday!!

The MFT February Release is PACKED with an incredible array of celebratory images so needless to say, birthdays are on our minds. From balloons to confetti, there’s plenty of birthday imagery that’s perfect for filling the proportions of a slimline card. With a considerable selection of stamps, dies, stencils, and more, you’ll love joining our team this month in crafting your own slimline birthday cards.

There's so much room to include lots of details on a slimline card and I went all in on this one. I wanted it to have a really party feel and I think all the balloons really helped to accomplish that.

I started by stamping my images from BB Mice Day to Celebrate Stamp Set on No Line Coloring card stock with Extreme Black hybrid ink, cut them out with the coordinating Die-namics, and colored them with Copic markers.

I wanted the balloons to float off into the ether so it had to be an outdoor scene--they ARE mice, you see. So, after cutting Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper with Slimline Starter Die-namics, I stenciled my background with Mini Cloud Edges, Drifts & Hills, and Grassy Edges Stencils and Broken China, Forest Moss, and Peeled Paint Distress inks, stamped the sentiment from the set and adhered it to a Sweet Tooth card stock base cut 8 1/2" x 7".

Once that was done all there was left to do was to adhered the colored images--some directly to the card front and most popped up on foam tape.

That's all from me today! Thanks so much for stopping by! We can't wait to see what you come up with for YOUR slimline challenge cards!

Take Care of Yourself - MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #629

Hi, everyone, I’m back with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

Since I didn't get a chance to play with the latest Stacey Yakula products during release, I got them out to use on this card. I'm taking a little artistic license with this sketch but there it is ;-)

I started by stamping the images on No Line Coloring card stock with Extreme Black hybrid ink, cut them out with the coordinating Die-namics, then colored them with Copic markers. I wanted the images done first so I could then plan my stenciled background.

Next, on Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper I created the background using Mini Cloud Edges, Drifts & Hills, and Grassy Edges Stencils and Broken China, Forest Moss, and Peel Paint Distress inks.

When my background was dry I adhered it to a Sweet Tooth card stock base with foam tape and popped the images onto the card front, also with foam tape. The sentiment was heat embossed on Black Licorice card stock with white detail embossing powder, cut into pieces, and adhered at wonky angles with foam tape, as well.

And there you have it! Now it’s YOUR turn to play! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the MFT Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. Winners are chosen at random, so everyone has a chance!

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!
