Love You More - Color Throwdown Challenge #639

Hello and welcome to a brand new Color Throwdown Challenge! This week Vickie is our hostess and she's chosen a color palette that's almost mono-chromatic for us to play with.

I hadn't had a chance to use the recently-released Watercolor Wash Stencil from MFT so today was the day and I love it!! You'll be seeing this one more for sure! To begin, on Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper, I sponged, left to right, Amarena Cherry, Moroccan Spice, Butterscotch, and Kraft die inks. Once dry I spattered with clean water and gold and black acrylic inks.

I cut Hey Die-namics from Gold Sparkle card stock and two copies from white scraps and layered them with spray adhesive. The sentiment, from Heart Burst Hellos Stamp Set, was heat embossed with gold detail embossing powder on Black Licorice card stock cut with Skinny Strips Die-namics.

The background was adhered directly to a Sweet Tooth card stock base, the sentiment strip and Hey die cut adhered, and I finished off with the little heart cut from Amarena Cherry card stock.

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword #CTD639 so we can see your beauty all in one place, and use #ctd639 and #colorthrowdown on social media. Hope to see you there! Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week!

You Were Born to Bloom - MFT April Slimline Challenge: Spring

Spring has sprung on the calendar, and in the MFT shop, with a bounty of products that celebrate the season. Slimline cards provide a unique opportunity to expand your scene. With the abundance of spring, there are so many joyful ways to utilize that bonus space! This month, we’re challenging our designers, and we’re challenging *you* to showcase your best spring scenes as a slimline design.

Spring has sprung in my neck of the woods for sure. I love watching the trees leaf out in the Spring so decided to incorporate some in this design. To begin, I cut Slimline Starter Die-namics from Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper and sponged my background: Mini Cloud Edges Stencil with Lazy Day dye ink and Drifts & Hills Stencil with Sour Apple and JalapeƱo Popper Dye ink. Then I stamped the tree from Wonderful Woods with Vintage Timber, Limelight, and Sour Apple dye inks.

The card front was matted with Sour Apple card stock and popped up on a Sweet Tooth card stock base with foam tape. The images were stamped on No Line Coloring card stock with Extreme Black hybrid ink, cut with the coordinating Die-namics, and also popped up with foam tape.

To finish, the sentiment was heat embossed on Vintage Timber card stock cut with Fishtail Foundations Die-namics and adhered with foam tape. To complete the scene a Lemon Chiffon card stock sun, cut with A2 Circle STAX Die-namics was adhered directly, and several Petite Cloud Die-namics, cut from Sweet Tooth card stock were added.

And there you have it! Thanks so much for stopping by! See you soon!
