I have a couple of cards for you today and they couldn’t be more different from each other. This month’s products include a wide range of styles so there’s something for everybody! My first card uses the chalkboard technique in an updated way. I really love this technique and hated when it went “off trend”—is that the opposite of “on trend”? To begin, I stamped Mesmerizing Mandala Background on a Black Licorice card stock base with Versamark and heat embossed with white detail embossing powder.

I did the chalkboard smudges with Sweet Tooth Pigment ink (found under specialty inks in the MFT Store) and a sponge, and then cut Peace Die-namics from Cornflower Sparkle card stock. I popped it up on foam mounting tape and it was done. So simple but so dramatic!

Next up is an adorable ice skating cat and penguin from You Make My Heart Melt.

I used a watercolor wash sky and Gravel Gray card stock for the “ice”. I stamped the cuts with Versamark and heat embossed with white detail embossing powder. The scenery was created using Snow Drifts, Scenic Snow Globe, Beach Scene Builder, and Puffy Clouds Die-namics (card stock colors listed below) with the sentiment stamped on a Snow Drift die cut.

The two images were stamped on No-Line Coloring card stock (heat set) with Black Licorice hybrid ink, colored with Copic markers, and popped up on the ice with foam mounting tape. How cute are those two????

And that’s it from me for Day Five of MFT’s November Release Countdown! Thanks so much for stopping by—see you back tomorrow for Day Four!

  4. Cool cards. Yes, I think “off trend” would be correct!😊 But I agree with you, I like the chalkboard technique and it does give a dramatic vibe to your card. TFS.
