It’s Like You Were Created Just For Me–MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #295

MFTWSC295_2016aug25

Hi, everyone, I’m back with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

I wanted to play with the recently release Frightful Friends and was determined to make it work—and I think I did. I started with a Sweet Tooth card stock base and stamped the sentiment with Black Licorice dye ink. On a panel of Smooth White card stock, I sponged my eerie sky using, light to dark, Banana Split dye ink, Orange Zest dye ink, Grape Jelly dye ink, Blueberry dye ink, and Nightshift Blue dye ink. Smooth White card stock makes sponging so much easier because, well, it’s SMOOTH! I splattered some clear water and then some watered down white craft paint to create my starry sky.

Next I added Grassy Edges Die-namics cut from Gumdrop Green card stock, Frightful Fence Die-namics, cut from Black Licorice card stock, and the moon from LJD Spooky Sweets Die-namics cut from Banana Split card stock. I stamped the images with Black Licorice hybrid ink, colored with Copic markers, and popped them up on foam mounting tape to finish

Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the
MFT Challenge Blog. You have the chance to win a $20 in MFT voucher; one winner is chosen at random each week!

And that’s it for today! Thanks so much for stopping by—see you soon!

Hello There–CTD #407

CTD407_2016aug24

Hello there! Welcome to this week’s Color Throwdown Challenge! This week Lori is our hostess and she has chosen a trendy color combo.

This card was so much fun to make! I know I say that a lot but it’s true, LOL! I started with a Sweet Tooth card stock base. Then I added some Ranger Watercolor Paper on which I applied a watercolor wash using Peerless Watercolors and a waterbrush and some clean water splatters add interest. I popped that up on foam mounting tape on the card base and then I cut Chunky Chevron Cover-Up Die-namics from Sweet Tooth card stock, laid it out on my watercolored background, and used it as a template for popping the cut outs up on foam.

Next I watercolored Bold Greenery Die-namics (can you tell I LOVE these leaves?) and adhered them with hot glue. I cut Hello There Die-namics from Black Licorice card stock three times, adhered them together, and popped it up on foam. I stamped the “THERE” image from Label Maker Sentiments with Black Licorice dye ink, popped it up on foam, and was done!

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the
Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD407 so we can see your beauty all in one place, and use #ctd407 and #colorthrowdown on social media. Hope to see you there! Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week, including our incredibly talented August Guest Designer, Wanda Guess!

This card started with a Smooth White card stock base, I added a strip of Itsy Bitsy Polka Dots Paper Pack down the left side and popped up another panel of Smooth White card stock with foam mounting tape. Then I cut out a lot of flowers and leaves from Ranger Watercolor Paper, colored them with Peerless Watercolors and a waterbrush, stamped them all with Distressed Patterns and Black Licorice dye ink and adhered them to the card front.
