MFT October Release Countdown, Day Four + a Video

Hello, and welcome to Day Four of MFT’s October Release Countdown!!! So, how’d you like yesterday’s previews? Pretty dang awesome, right? Well, hold on to your hats, ‘cause we’ve got plenty more to show you. Today we’re previewing BB Santa's Elves, BB Santa's Elves Die-namics, Candy Stripes Background Builder, Santa Suit Die-namics, Fireplace Die-namics, Hand Lettered Holiday, and Stitched Arch STAX Die-namics. I have a lot to show you today so let’s get to it! First up I’ve created a little scene using several of the products being previewed today. I started with a Sweet Tooth card stock base and added some paper from the new Calm & Cozy Chevron Paper Pack—love me some gray wallpaper :) Then I built Fireplace Die-namics with sweet Tooth card stock, the fire box is the new Gravel Gray card stock and look at that fire! Right down to the wrought iron grate! I used the new Sunshine card stock as one of the colors in the fire, the new Poppy card stock for the stockings, and Elf Green card stock and Green-Eyed Monster card stock for the greenery on the mantle. The holly sprigs are from BB Santa’s Elves and was also fussy cut out. My little elf is from BB Santa’s Elves and was stamped on Neenah Classic Crest Cover, Solar White Smooth, 110lb with Black Licorice hybrid ink, colored with Copic markers and fussy cut out before being popped up on foam. The sentiment is from Gift Tag Greetings and is framed with the new Stitched Arch STAX Die-namics.



Fireplace Die-namics is a classic design and I can see it being used year ‘round, can’t you?

Next up is Santa Suit Die-namics. I might have squealed a bit when I took this out of the design team package. How stinkin’ CUTE is this?!?!

I have two projects using it for you today—the first one is a card. All of the parts you need are in the die set—you choose the papers and go to town!

Speaking of papers, I have a little video showing you how I stamped the Candy Stripe Background Builder on yesterday’s tag and the one hanging off of Santa’s belt below. You can view it HERE in HD or click on the button below.







I actually added some fun flock to my “fur” areas on this project—not sure if you can see that or not, but it adds fun dimension to it.




And I heat embossed the belt card stock with clear embossing powder (two coats) to give it some shine.



The tag is from Tag Builder Blueprints 4 Die-namics. I used Candy Stripes Background Builder, Green-Eyed Monster dye ink and Wild Cherry dye ink to make the striped paper and Green-Eyed Monster card stock for the “eyelet”. Another holly sprig from BB Santa’s Elves embellish it, this one along with the coordinating die from BB Santa’s Elves Die-namics.

While I was making the card above, it occurred to me that it would make a great front to a gift bag :) So, I gave it a try and love how it turned out!



This time I left the white card stock as is and used black mirror card stock for the belt. Another tag from Tag Builder Blueprints 4 Die-namics…



…with another sentiment on the back. This came together really quickly—a great way to make a custom gift bag.

It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas–MFT October Release Countdown, Day Five

Hello and welcome to the first day of MFT October Release Countdown! As my title suggests, this is mainly Christmas month at MFT, with a few other amazing things thrown in, such as NEW COLORS OF CARD STOCK AND INK!!! Yes, six new colors are releasing this month, along with two new patterned paper pads, and they. are. all. awesome! Today we’re previewing LJD Trim the Tree, LJD Trim the Tree Die-namics, Gift Tag Greetings, Tag Builder 4 Blueprints Die-namics, Calm & Cozy Chevron Paper Pack, and Farm Fresh Gingham Paper Pack along with the new colors. Check out ALL of the details at the MFT Blog. Release is October 6 at 10pm.

So, now that the basic introductions are made let me show you what I did with a few of today’s products. First up is a card using LJD Trim the Tree and LJD Trim the Tree Die-namics. It’s CAS and I love how it turned out. Would be pretty easy to mass produce, too, I think. I started with a Sweet Tooth card stock base, then on a piece of Ranger Watercolor paper, I did a wash with Blu Raspberry dye ink, splattered some Black Licorice dye ink, and stamped the garland image from the set in a curved design—easy to manipulate this image on a stamp block pretty much any way you want it to go. It and the sentiment were stamped with Black Licorice hybrid ink. Then I cut out the ornaments from LJD Trim the Tree Die-namics, also from watercolor paper, and “colored” the stamps with Zig Clean Color Brush Markers. I did a light mist with water and stamped—I love the soft look that gives them!!



I popped the ornaments up on foam mounting tape and it was done!!!

Next up is a tag I made with Tag Builder 4 Blueprints Die-namics, Gift Tag Greetings, and the also new Candy Stripes Background--more about that in coming days. I stamped up some paper with it using a new color, Green-Eyed Monster dye ink and Wild Cherry dye ink, cut out my tag, front and back and another layer for the inside because my cutting plate is SO marked up and I wanted a clean looking surface on the inside because I knew I was going to stamp on the back. I made a shaker element with heat resistant acetate for the window, die cuts from Tag Builder 4 Blueprints Die-namics and Pretty Pink Posh beads for inside. The sentiment on the inside is from Gift Tag Greetings, stamped with Black Licorice hybrid ink. The little holly sprig is from another new set you’ll be seeing more of soon: BB Santa’s Elves and was colored with Copic markers and popped up on foam.



On the back, I stamped more images from Gift Tag Greetings, including this holly sprig, also stamped with Green-Eyed Monster dye ink and Wild Cherry dye ink, to carry out the holly theme.

A Special Gift Just For You–MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #248

Hi, everyone, I’m back again with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Challenge & Inspiration Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

 

This card started with a Steel Gray card stock base. Next up is a layer of Silver Sparkle card stock and one of Sweet Tooth card stock. That layer was cut with Blueprints 20 Die-namics and then Inside & Out Stitched Rounded Square STAX Die-namics, then dry embossed with Small Chevron Stripes Stencil before being popped up on foam mounting tape on the base. The cut out was stamped a little bit wonky on purpose with Grout Gray dye ink and Tiny Stars Background, stamped with a sentiment from LJD Celebrate You with Steel Gray dye ink, then adhered into the opening but not popped up—I love how you can see a glimmer of the sparkle paper all the way ‘round it. Then I stamped the line of packages from the same set on Ranger watercolor paper like this: I colored the images on the stamp with Zig Clean Color Brush Markers, gave it a light misting of water, and stamped. I love how the colors melded just a little and I’ll be doing this again! I popped it up on foam and finished up by adding some Silver Sparkle card stock stars, cut with Scattered Stars Die-namics, Blueprints 17 Die-namics, and Blueprints 25 Die-namics.
