Sending You Sunshine–MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #421

Hi, everyone, I’m back with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

What a fun sketch, right? Lots you can do with this, but I went CAS for my card. First, I ran a strip of Black & White Basics Paper Pack down the left side of a Sweet Tooth card stock base. Then I created a sky with Mini Cloud Edges Stencil and Blue Breeze dye ink, then popped it up on the card base

Next I added Sunny Skies Die-namics, cut from Lemon Drop card stock and popped up on foam tape. The sentiment, from Full of Sunshine stamp set, was heat embossed on Translucent Vellum and adhered to the sun and finished off with some enamel dots.

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the MFT Challenge Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. One winner is chosen at random each week!
Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!

Over the Moon for Ewe - Color Throwdown #527

Hi everyone and welcome to a brand new
Color Throwdown Challenge! This week Lori is our hostess and she's challenging us to use these deep shades as inspired by her inspiration piece.

I hadn't used this darling Over the Moon for Ewe Stamp Set except as a Christmas card so I thought I'd get it out for this. I started by sponging my background and sky, then splattered some Copic Opaque White on it for stars. I added the hills, also sponged, and a strip of Sour Apple card stock cut with Grassy Edges Die-namics on which I stamped the sentiment.

I stamped the images on No line Coloring card stock, cut them out with the coordinating Die-namics, colored them with Copic markers, and popped them up in the scene with foam tape. I broke the rules just a tiny bit with that adorable little heart die cut but I thought that moon just needed it.

And that's it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the Color Throwdown Challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So c'mon over to the Color Throwdown Blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please provide a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD527 so we can see your beauty all in one place, and use #ctd527 and #colorthrowdown on social media. Hope to see you there! Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week, along with our super talented Guest Designer, Vicki Finger!

Heart Art–MFT January Card Kit

cardkitdayrelease_2019jan22

Hello and welcome to Heart Art—MFT’s January Card Kit & Mid-Month Release! The card kit and the new Stacey Yakula Tweet Friends Stamp Set and Die-namics are now available for purchase in the MFT Online Boutique! Be sure to check by the MFT Blog, for all the details!

Print
For this card I’m using Heart Art Stamp Set and Heart Trio Shaker Window from the kit. I started with a Sweet Tooth card stock base and added some Sweet Stack paper pack across the bottom. Then I cut the shaker windows and dry embossed more Sweet Tooth card stock with Lots of Heart Stencil. Next I stamped the images using three different dye inks. To do this, I put the die cut panel in my MISTI and lined up the stamps inside the openings, closed the door, and picked up the stamps.

cardkitdayrelease_2019jan22b

After I stamped the images on another piece of Sweet Tooth card stock they lined up perfectly with the heart openings. I popped the card front up on foam tape on the stamped images panel and then the whole thing up on foam on the card base. I added Stitched Basic Edges 2 Die-namics and Stitched Scallop Edges 2 and some Silver Sparkle card stock, baker’s twine, and some Sprinkles to embellish.

And that’s it for MFT’s January Card Kit, Heart Art, Release! Thanks so much for stopping by! See you soon!

Isn’t this bear just the cutest???? I love that he’s holding that big ol’ heart! For this card I started by creating my background with Mini Cloud Edges Stencil, Blue Breeze dye ink, and a sponge dauber. I adhered that directly to a Sweet Tooth Card stock base, then added Grassy Edges Die-namics cut from Sour Apple and Gumdrop Green card stocks.

Next I added the card front, cut from Sweet Tooth card stock with Inside & Out Stitched Circle STAX, popped up on foam tape after tying around some baker’s twine.

cardkitday2_2019jan21b

Then I stamped the images on No Line Coloring Card Stock with Extreme Black Hybrid Ink, cut them out with the coordinating Die-namics, colored them with Copic markers, and popped them up in the circle with foam tape. Then I added the sun, cut from Lemon Drop card stock with Beach Scene Builder Die-namics, and Puffy Clouds Die-namics cut from Sweet Tooth card stock. I finished off with sentiment, heat embossed on Black Licorice card stock cut with Essential Speech Bubbles Die-namics.

And that’s it from me for Day Two of MFT’s January Card Kit and Mid-Month Release. Thanks so much for stopping by! See you back tomorrow for the release!

Heart Art—MFT’s January Card Kit & Mid-Month Release

cardkitday1_2019jan20

Hello and welcome to Day One Countdown of MFT’s January Card Kit, Heart Art. You’re going to LOVE this kit—a fun stamp set and Die-namics for the win! Release is on January 22 at 10am Eastern and included the a new Stacey Yakula release as well!

Print
For this card I started by doing a watercolor wash on some Ranger Watercolor Paper after heat embossing Scattered Hearts Background from the January Release and splattered it with some black acrylic ink. Next I cut it with Mini Heart Shaker Window & Frame Die-namics, which is the Mid-Month Free with $60 die. I used some acetate for the window, built up my shaker element with foam tape, filled it with sequins and seed beads (see below for colors) and cover the back with a stamp from Heart Art Stamp Set. To get it centered properly, I covered the back with more acetate first, then I could turn it right side up to line it up on the stamped image. It’s like a treasure hunt—you shake the sequins around to see the whole message ;-)

cardkitday1_2019jan20b

Then I popped the whole thing up on a Sweet Tooth card stock base and added the rest of the letters to spell LOVE, cut from Silver Sparkle card stock with Double the Love Die-namics, and popped up on foam tape. To finish off I heat embossed the rest of the sentiment, which is part of one from Sweet Celebrations Stamp Set also from the January Release, on a strip of Black Licorice card stock.

And there you have it for Day One Countdown for MFT’s January Card Kit: Heart Art. Thanks so much for stopping by! See you back tomorrow for a sneak of the new Stacey Yakula products :)

I’m So Glad We’re a Thing–MFT and My Sweet Petunia Collaboration

MISTI_collab_2019jan18

Hi everyone! I use either my regular size MISTI or my Mini MISTI on virtually every card I make so I’m excited to be participating in this collaboration between MFT and My Sweet Petunia! There are prizes to be had so be sure to check out who is participating at the MFT Blog.

Print

I created the buffalo check “patterned paper” for this card using my regular sized MISTI, MISTI magnet bars, and MISTI Creative Corners and I’m going to share a couple of photos showing how I did it.

MISTI_collab_2019jan18c
First, I’ve positioned some Red Hot card stock sort of in the center of my MISTI using MISTI Creative Corners pieces and I placed my stamp from Happy Birthday to You Stamp Set in the center so that it overlaps the card stock. The Creative Corners and bar magnets enable me to move the card stock to the center and ensure it stays straight so the stamp extends past each side.

I inked up my stamp with Black Licorice dye ink and stamped in the usual manner. I wanted a kind of distressed look since I was going for a masculine card but if I wanted really complete coverage, all I would have had to do was ink up my stamp and re-stamp as many times as it took to get it like I wanted. That’s one of the great things about the MISTI.
MISTI_collab_2019jan18d
Then you can see that I’ve moved the card stock up in preparation for stamping again—the stamp stays in the same place and I moved the card stock up using a Creative Corner to make sure it was evenly spaced below the first stamped image.

I continued to move it up until my Creative Corner pumped into the top of the frame, at which time I flipped it over and did the same thing on the other end.

MISTI_collab_2019jan18e

To get the check pattern, next I simply turned my card stock 90 degrees and repeated the steps.
MISTI_collab_2019jan18f

And here’s the finished product again on the bottom of the card. To complete the card, I cut the edge of some Sweet Tooth card stock and some Silver Sparkle card stock (even a masculine card can have a LITTLE glitter, right?) with Stitched Basic Edges 2 Die-namics, stamped the sentiment from Sweet Nothings Stamp Set, tied around some baker’s twine, and popped it up on the card base.
MISTI_collab_2019jan18b

To finish off I added some Lots of Hearts Outlines cut from Red Hot and Silver Sparkle card stock and arranged randomly.

And that’s it! Thanks so much for stopping by today! See you soon!

Happy Birthday to You–MFT January Birthday Project Challenge

birthdayproject_2019jan17

We know it’s the thought that counts but c’mon, can we all agree that a thoughtful gift is really the icing on the birthday cake? With a wide variety of gift stamps and dies, you ought to have no trouble completing this month’s challenge — join our team in crafting a birthday card featuring one or more presents.

Print

When I started looking though my stamps for a suitable image it didn’t take me long to settle on this one. PI Happy Birthday to You with her big gift box was perfect! I started by stamping the image five times—yes five!! 1) The main image, 2) one for her dress, 3) one for just her arm, 4) one for the gift box, and 5) one for the ribbon. I colored the main image and the arm, then shaded the dress, box, and ribbon, all with Copic markers and adhered them together like this: main > dress > arm > box > ribbon.

birthdayproject_2019jan17b

Once that was done I went to work on the card front. First I adhered a strip of Plaid Patterns Paper Pack to a Sweet Tooth card stock base, then sponged a panel of Strathmore Bristol Smooth card stock, tied around some baker’s twine, and popped it up on foam tape on the card base. Then I popped the paper pieced image up on foam tape and finished off with some enamel dots.

And that’s it from me today! Thanks so much for stopping by—see you soon!

Hey, Gullfriend!–MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #420

MFTWSC420_2019jan16

Hi, everyone, I’m back with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

MFT_WSC_420

As is my habit when I sat down to work on this card, I studied the sketch and then went looking at stamps and dies to see what would work. Using a good deal of creative license, LOL, I thought the waves and sand would work for the horizontal elements at the bottom of this sketch so that’s what I did. I used Ocean Waves Die-namics and Summer Splash and Kraft card stock for this part. But before I adhered them, I sponged the sky with Lemon Chiffon and Blue Breeze dye inks on Strathmore Bristol Smooth card stock and adhered it directly to a Sweet Tooth card stock base.

MFTWSC420_2019jan16b

I added a Lemon Chiffon card stock sun, cut with Stitched Circle STAX and some Puffy Clouds Die-namics along with a couple of smaller clouds from Spring Scene Builder Die-namics. I stamped the sentiment on the Kraft layer and added a seagull, stamped with Extreme Black hybrid ink on No Line Coloring card stock and colored with Copic markers. Foam tape was used for dimension.

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the
MFT Challenge Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. One winner is chosen at random each week!

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!
