I’m So Glad We’re a Thing–MFT and My Sweet Petunia Collaboration

MISTI_collab_2019jan18

Hi everyone! I use either my regular size MISTI or my Mini MISTI on virtually every card I make so I’m excited to be participating in this collaboration between MFT and My Sweet Petunia! There are prizes to be had so be sure to check out who is participating at the MFT Blog.

I created the buffalo check “patterned paper” for this card using my regular sized MISTI, MISTI magnet bars, and MISTI Creative Corners and I’m going to share a couple of photos showing how I did it.

First, I’ve positioned some Red Hot card stock sort of in the center of my MISTI using MISTI Creative Corners pieces and I placed my stamp from Happy Birthday to You Stamp Set in the center so that it overlaps the card stock. The Creative Corners and bar magnets enable me to move the card stock to the center and ensure it stays straight so the stamp extends past each side.

I inked up my stamp with Black Licorice dye ink and stamped in the usual manner. I wanted a kind of distressed look since I was going for a masculine card but if I wanted really complete coverage, all I would have had to do was ink up my stamp and re-stamp as many times as it took to get it like I wanted. That’s one of the great things about the MISTI.

Then you can see that I’ve moved the card stock up in preparation for stamping again—the stamp stays in the same place and I moved the card stock up using a Creative Corner to make sure it was evenly spaced below the first stamped image.

I continued to move it up until my Creative Corner pumped into the top of the frame, at which time I flipped it over and did the same thing on the other end.

To get the check pattern, next I simply turned my card stock 90 degrees and repeated the steps.

And here’s the finished product again on the bottom of the card. To complete the card, I cut the edge of some Sweet Tooth card stock and some Silver Sparkle card stock (even a masculine card can have a LITTLE glitter, right?) with Stitched Basic Edges 2 Die-namics, stamped the sentiment from Sweet Nothings Stamp Set, tied around some baker’s twine, and popped it up on the card base.

To finish off I added some Lots of Hearts Outlines cut from Red Hot and Silver Sparkle card stock and arranged randomly.

And that’s it! Thanks so much for stopping by today! See you soon!

  4. Love your card Barbara and thank you SO MUCH for a great pictorial of your process. I have the creative corners but sometimes forget how to use them effectively and don't have time always to look up a video for a reminder. So it helps when from time to time someone uses them currently (as you have) to remind us. TFS!
