MFTCPC96_2018jun28

Hi, all, I'm back with the latest MFT Color Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s color combo: Blu Raspberry, Ripe Raspberry, Blue Yonder, and Black Licorice. All of the details about the color challenge are available on the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

As soon as I saw these colors I knew I wanted to use Basic Shapes – Circle Stencil for it. First I created a Sweet Tooth card stock base, then cut a panel of Smooth White card stock with A2 Rectangle STAX Set 2 and began to stencil circles with Premium Dye Inks in the challenge colors. I did a quick trial on my grid pad but pretty much replicated that on my card.

MFTCPC96_2018jun28b

Once the stenciling was done, I popped the panel up on foam tape, then added a sentiment from Kind Thanks Stamp Set heat embossed on Black Licorice card stock and Twice the Thanks Die-namics, cut from Silver Sparkle Card Stock and twice from white card stock, layered them, and then adhered to the card front. To finish off I added some Silver Sprinkles.

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the
MFT Challenge Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. One winner is chosen at random each week!

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!

Hey, Gillfriend–MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #391

MFTWSC391_2018jun27

Hi, everyone, I’m back with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

MFT_WSC_391

I thought all those little opening would be a great way to display a bunch of images from BB Gill Friends Stamp Set and Die-namics from the June Release. First I did a watercolor wash on Ranger Watercolor Paper and cut it out with Collage Cover-Up Die-namics. I popped it up on a Sweet Tooth card base with foam tape and adhered the cut outs directly to the card base.

MFTWSC391_2018jun27b

The images were stamped with Extreme Black Hybrid ink on No Line Coloring Card Stock, cut out with the coordinating Die-namics and colored with Copic markers then popped up in the openings with foam tape. The sentiment was heat embossed on Black Licorice card stock and also popped up on foam tape, following the sketch.

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the MFT Challenge Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. One winner is chosen at random each week!

I’m Happy to Be Stuck With You–Color Throwdown Challenge #499

CTD499_2018jun27

Hey, everyone, it’s time for another Color Throwdown Challenge! Today Vickie has a fun summer-y color combo for us based on her gorgeous inspiration piece.

swatch499

I love LLD Sweet Succulents and I hope it never retires!!! OK, got that out of my system ;-) I started by cutting Inside & Out Circle STAX from Sweet Tooth card stock, sponged the cut out lightly with Lemon Chiffon Premium Dye Ink, popped the panel up on foam tape on the card base, and adhered the cut out circle back in the opening directly to the card base.

CTD499_2018jun27b

Then I added a couple of strips of patterned paper and the sentiment, heat embossed with white detail embossing powder and adhered it. I stamped the images on No Line Coloring Card Stock with Extreme Black Hybrid Ink, cut them out with the coordinating Die-namics, colored with Copic markers, and popped it up on the card front. I finished off with some Sprinkles in challenge colors.

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the
Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD499 so we can see your beauty all in one place, and use #ctd499 and #colorthrowdown on social media. Hope to see you there! Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week!

birdsofafeatherblogtitle

For this card I went with a pop up slider design—Blueprints 28 Die-namics makes that easy so first I created my background with Mini Cloud Edges Stencil, cut it out, scored, and created the slider element. I used File Tab Die-namics for the top of the slider element, cut a slot and threaded ribbon through, I tied it with hemp cord and added a shortened Stitched Tiny Tags Die-namics with Interactive Labels stamped on it.

cardkitrelease_2018jun26b

Next I created the bird house, the bird, and added some flowers across the bottom. Seems once you score and bend card stock for the slider it will never lie perfectly flat again, so the flowers are a good way to camouflage the bottom edge gap.

I wanted to used the mid-month Free With $60 set for my sentiment so I adhered them in place. I created a short video clip to show you how it works.

The top sentiment wanted to hang as I pushed the slider back down so to fix that I simply added an acetate sheet and now it slides like buttah!

And there you have it!
MFT’s June Card Kit, Birds of a Feather is now available! Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope I’ve given you some ideas for using YOUR Painted Prints Card Kit so go shop! See you soon!

I decided a couple of flamingos on the beach having margaritas would be perfect for this. I chose to do this fully with watercolors and used Ranger Watercolor Paper and Peerless Watercolors for it. I freehanded the background  then then stamped the sentiment with Extreme Black hybrid ink.

hitsandhightlights_2018jun26b

Then I stamped the flamingos with Cement Gray hybrid ink, cut them out with the coordinating Die-namics and cut all the other elements out before watercoloring everything. I popped up everything on foam tape, except the sun, which was adhered directly to the card front.

This was a fun card to make! Thanks so much for stopping by! See you soon!

Birds of a Feather—MFT’s June Card Kit Countdown Day Two!

cardkitday2_2018jun25

Welcome to Day Two of MFT’s June Card Kit, Birds of a Feather! Release is tomorrow night at 9pm in the MFT Online Boutique. Be sure to stop by the MFT Blog for all the details!

birdsofafeatherblogtitle

I’m always so blown away by the pop-up boxes that my very talented team mate Rachel Alvarado does and the fact that my equally talented team mate Stephanie Klauck taught one at the recent MFT Retreat that I was inspired to do one for this post. I wanted it to look like the three front birds were sort of sitting on bushes in front of the bird house and I’m pretty happy with it. I could have added some grass to the dividers but I wanted to see what I could do with the kit contents instead.

I started by creating my box by scoring and cutting, then stencil Mini Cloud Edges on all surfaces that show on the outside. I adhered the sentiment in the form of the mid-month Free With $60 set, Simply Hello and Love You Die-namics to the front flap. Simple but perfect for these birdies.

cardkitday2_2018jun25b

Next I added the dividers, created and adhered the bird house, and cut the birds and added accents with Copic markers. I added lots of leaves to the dividers and then nestled the birds amongst the leaves and was pretty much done! Sounds simple and it really is. These boxes are super fun to make so look for more in the future ;-)

And that’s it for Day Two! Thanks so much for stopping by! See you back tomorrow night for the release of MFT’s June Card Kit, Birds of a Feather!

Birds of a Feather—MFT’s June Card Kit Countdown Day One!

cardkitday1_2018jun24

Hello and welcome to Day One of MFT’s June Card Kit Countdown! This month’s kit is called Birds of a Feather and it has the cutest birdie dies you have ever seen!!!! I simply love them! Then there’s flowers and leaves that are adorable but the birds!!! The kit will be available for purchase in the MFT Online Boutique Tuesday night, June 26th, at 9pm. The mid-month Free With $60 product is Simply Hello and Love You Die-namics—as long as supplies last. Be sure to stop by the MFT Blog for all the details!

birdsofafeatherblogtitle

When I first saw these dies I immediately thought: Christmas ornaments!!!! So that’s where I went today. ‘Course, it would make an adorable gift tag, too, doncha think?

To begin, I stamped up some Primitive White card stock with Wood Plank Background using first, Natural dye ink, then Cement Gray dye ink to get the weathered look I was going for. I cut the birdhouse from it and added Gravel gray to cover the hole over the entire back—so you can write on it if you want. Then I cut the other elements from Kraft card stock and spread some Snowflake paste on the roof and set it aside to dry. I also cut the leaves at this point and added paste so they could all dry together.

Then I cut and assembled the birdie—I thought this one could pass as a cardinal so went with it. I stamped the sentiment from Snow Globe Sentiments on the bottom strip, added a bit of snow and began to assemble the bird house.

cardkitday1_2018jun24b

To create the back, I simply traced around the die and cut it out. I sandwiched baker’s twine in between them then popped the roof up on foam for dimension. I added the greenery and the bird and by this time the sentiment strip was dry and it was added. Before assembly, I sponged all edges with Kraft dye ink for some distressing.

And that’s it! A darling ornament or tag using the June Card Kit, Birds of a Feather. Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope to see you back tomorrow night for Day Two!

Why not join us and add a birthday bear to your next card? Be sure to stop by the MFT Challenge Blog to see more inspiration from the design team and play along with us!

Fun, right?? I’m using BB Beary Special Birthday Stamp Set for this card. Originally this bear was holding one balloon and I wanted him to have more. So, I stamped the bear, masking off the balloon, then stamped the three balloon image in the same place. The center balloon string is on top of the original balloon strip and it worked out perfectly :) Since I combined two stamps, I had to fussy cut it out but that was no problem, then I colored it with Copic markers. I adhered Plaid Patterns Paper Pack to my card base and used these colors for my balloons.

birthdayprojectchallenge_2018jun21b

Next I added Sweet Tooth card stock framed with Single Stitch Line Tag-Corner Rectangle STAX Die-namics, popped up on foam tape, and added the bear, also popped up on foam. The sentiment was heat embossed on Black Licorice card stock, adhered with foam tape for dimension and it was done.

Thanks so much for stopping by! See you soon!

You Lift My Spirits–MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #390

MFTWSC390_2018jun20

Hi, everyone, I’m back with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

MFT_WSC_390

Well, I had to study on this sketch for a while! When I decided to create a scene and to mentally ignore the horizontal strip between the two squares. I used a watercolor background, colored the images with Copic markers, and popped up the card front on foam tape.

MFTWSC390_2018jun20b

To add a little more interest, I dry embossed the card front with one of my favorite stencils, Sunrise Radiating Rays. I finished off with a heat embossed sentiment strip.

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the MFT Challenge Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. One winner is chosen at random each week!

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!
