Wishing You the Hoppiest Birthday Ever - MFT December Hits & Highlights

How do you step up your cards with interactive elements? There are so many different techniques, but some of them are much more time consuming and require a lot of brainpower to bring your vision to life! If your next project requires a little bumpy action to make your scene come to life, you can’t beat the usefulness of the Movin’ & Groovin’ Die-namics options. This month, our team is sharing innovative ideas for integrating these action-packed dies into their projects.

Here you can see my card in action. I don't show the mechanics of card construction--you can see a great video showing how to construct a card with these Die-namics here. I didn't see any reason to reinvent this excellent wheel ;-)

I'm using Jumping Giraffe Stamp Set and Die-namics for the action figure. Watch him pogo his way across the card.

The sky was done with Mini Cloud Edges Stencil and Blue Yonder Dye Ink, and I added a sun cut with A2 Circle STAX Die-namics and Petite Clouds Die-namics.

Grassy Hills Die-namics, cut from Sour Apple card stock and sponged with Sour Apple dye ink gave me a place to stamp the sentiment and Mr. Giraffe a place to hop :) The image was stamped on No Line Coloring card stock, cut with the coordinating Die-namics, and colored with Copic markers before being added to the scene.

And that's it from me today! Thanks so much for stopping by--see you soon!

MFT Hits and Highlights - Shaker Ornaments

Shaker pouches are clearly an excellent option for integrating interactive elements into your card making, but we've got a fun new twist today just in time for the holidays. Today, we've challenged our team to create see-through ornaments with their choice of pouch. Use them to craft a miniature scene, add candy or a small gift, or simply pack with seasonal filler for some jolly shimmy and shake that will light up your tree. You could even tie a shaker pouch ornament to a package to serve double duty as decoration! Feeling festive? Let's get crafting!

I made these ornament with the plan to use them as package decorations because why not?? I'm using Tag Builder Blueprints 6 Die-namics and Circle Shaker Pouches by essentially making two copies, adding filler, and adhering them together! Easy peasy!!

This one is using Christmas Cheer Patterned Paper to guide the design, with Party Lights Die-namics cut from card stock using all the colors in the paper. To add some mobility, I added silver seed beads to the filler tied on ribbon and baker's twine and finished off with a sentiment from Bitty Holiday Wishes Stamp Set.

This one is identical in design, using Black & White Stripes Patterned paper and gold and silver glitter paper along with gold and silver seed beads. The sentiment was heat embossed with gold detail embossing powder where I used white on the one above.

These made cute ornaments/tags and didn't take long to make at all! So get your craft on and create some double duty projects this Christmas!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! See you soon!

Hits & Highlights – Extraordinaire Stencils

We've long been big proponents of the versatility of stencils. They are uniquely suited to a wide variety of techniques and mediums, feature exceptional durability, and are incredibly affordable — you simply can't beat their value in your crafting toolbox! With the introduction of our line of Extraordinaire stencils, stencil potential has been doubled! With both the negative and positive included, you have even more options for achieving your crafting dreams. This month, our team is showcasing some of that versatility by spotlighting techniques you can achieve with Extraordinaire stencils.

I love the Extraordinaire Stencils--they are so versatile! For my card today i show you how to use both parts--the positive and the negative to create a unique background. To begin, I used the negative to stencil a frame around my background panel using Kraft dye ink.

I let that dry and placed the positive element on top and sponged the center of the panel with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink.

Once that was dry I sponged the edges with Hickory Smoke Distress Ink and spattered with black acrylic ink.

Next i stamped Christmas Cardinals Stamp Set on No Line Coloring card stock with Extreme Black hybrid ink, cut them out with the coordinating Die-namics and colored with Copic markers.

Before adhering the stenciled panel to a Sweet Tooth card stock base, the sentiment from the set was stamped with Extreme Black hybrid ink. Next the colored images were popped up on foam and it was done!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Be sure to stop by the MFT Blog to see more Extraordinaire Stencil inspiration.

3, 2, 1…Launching the Best Day Ever–MFT Hits & Highlights

For this month’s feature, we’re launching cards into a whole new world with Blast Off Die-namics—the sky’s the limit!

I employed a really simple design to showcase this adorable Die-namics! To begin, I cut all the pieces of Blast Off Die-namics and assembled them for this colorful rocket.

Then I created my background by spattering white craft paint on an After Midnight card stock card front. Once it dried, and after careful measuring, I cut Leaping Slider Channels Die-namics from it.

Next, the card front was adhered to a Sweet Tooth card stock base with 2 layers of foam tape, and a Slider Element was adhered to the rocket and a piece of clear acetate and the acetate slipped into the slider channel.

After testing to made sure the rocket moved without any impingement, I added Stitched Cloud Edges Die-namics, cut from Sweet Tooth card stock and also popped up on two layers of foam tape—to ensure smooth movement. The sentiment from best Friends in the Universe was stamped on another Stitched Cloud Edges die cut and also popped up on foam for the finish.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope you can find some time to have some rocket fun, too! See you soon!

Balloons are so much fun—especially MFT’s Pumped-Up Alphabet and Pumped-Up Numbers Die-namics! I hadn’t used them for a while so this was the perfect opportunity to remedy that!

To begin, I created my background by using Sweet Tooth card stock, Mini Cloud Edges and Grassy Edges Stencils with Blue Breeze and Gumdrop Green dye ink, stamping the sentiment from BB Birthday Buds Stamp Set with Extreme Black hybrid ink, and adhering it to a Sweet Tooth card stock base.

Next I cut Pumped-Up Alphabet and Pumped-Up Numbers Die-namics from Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper sponged with Dried Marigold, Broken China, Shabby Shutters, and Spun Sugar Distress Inks and popped them up on the card front with foam tape.

Then I stamped the image from BB Birthday Buds on No Line Coloring card stock with Extreme Black hybrid ink, cut it out with the coordinating Die-namics, paper pieced the hat using Birthday Brights Paper Pad, and coloring with Copic markers. Once that was done I popped it up on foam tape, as well, and added baker’s twine from the balloons to his trunk for the finish!

Surf, Sand, & Sun–MFT June Hits & Highlights Feature

Put on your shades, because the MFT Design Team is shining today! They are bringing the heat with an array of products centering around a HOT theme — Surf, Sand, & Sun. Get inspired with some COOL new ideas using the hottest products available. Let’s dive in!

I think it would be SOOOOOOOOOOO nice to be relaxing in a pool—or the ocean—and soaking up some rays after being shut in for so long, don’t you? I’ll have to keep living vicariously through my cards for a while, though, so I got out this cutie for today’s card.

First, I created my background by doing a watercolor wash on Ranger Watercolor paper, then spattered it with clean water and popped it up on a Sweet Tooth card base after adhering a strip of Fun in the Sun Paper Pad. Next I stamped the images on No Line Coloring card stock with Extreme Black hybrid ink, cut them out with the coordinating Die-namics, colored them with Copic markers, and popped them up on the card front with foam tape.

The sentiment was heat embossed on a strip of Black Licorice card stock and adhered with foam, as well, for the finish.

And that’s it from me today! Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you can find some way to relax like this girlie is doing—take good care of yourselves!
