Holding You in My Heart–MFT Color Challenge #92

MFTCPC92_2018apr26

Hi, all, I'm back with the latest MFT Color Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s color combo: Steel Blue, Lemon Chiffon, Safety Orange, and Blue Yonder. All of the details about the color challenge are available on the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

I had forgotten how much I loved creating with Stitched Flowers Die-namics but was reminded earlier this week when the Stitched Blooms Card Kit was released! MFT has so many awesome products and this is one I had not shown enough love to recently so I got them out for this card. I used Steel Blue card stock for the leaves and the other three colors for the flowers. I cut a bunch and assembled them then decide on my card design.

MFTCPC92_2018apr26b

I thought these colors would work well for a sympathy card—it always pays to have a couple of these on hand :( I did a watercolor wash for the background then, when it was dry, stamped the sentiment with Extreme Black Hybrid ink (always use a waterproof ink on watercolor paper—it’s a soft paper and dye ink with feather). I popped that up on the card base with foam tape, adhered my flowers and leaves, and added some Clear Round Drops as accents.

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the MFT Challenge Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. One winner is chosen at random each week!

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!

To the Birthday Chick–MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #382

MFTWSC382_2018apr25

Hi, everyone, I’m back with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

MFT_WSC_382

I used Stitched Scallop Basic Edges for the pointy element and Stitched Triple Peek-a-Boo Windows for the horizontal element—I exercised a little artistic license there ;-) I added some patterned paper behind the windows and popped up a chick within each window.

MFTWSC382_2018apr25b

I stamped the sentiment on the card base, popped up another little chick, and finished off with some Sprinkles in matching colors.

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the MFT Challenge Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. One winner is chosen at random each week!

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!

For My Sweet Mom–Color Throwdown Challenge #490

CTD490_2018apr25

Hello and welcome to a brand new Color Throwdown Challenge! This week Wanda has chosen a romantic color combo based on this gorgeous inspiration piece!

swatch490

I was compelled to let the inspiration piece lead my design for this card and I went all vintage. I’m actually calling this Modern Vintage Style ;-) I simply could not resist using some distressed and crinkled seam binding from my stash that has not seen enough love lately. For the background I spread molding paste through English Brick Wall Stencil and left it white and let the dimension be enough.

CTD490_2018apr25b

Then I added Magical Mandala Die-namics cut from Silver Sparkle Card Stock and the Eiffel Tower from In Paris Stamp Set and Die-namics, stamped on Cement Gray card stock. Next came Fab Foliage Die-namics cut from Cactus card stock and three Mini Royal Roses Die-namics, cut from Cotton Candy and Wild Wisteria card stocks. The leaves and the roses were sponged with Kraft dye ink. Next I added a sentiment from All About Mom, heat embossed on Black Licorice card stock and popped up on foam. To finish off I added some 3mm, 4mm, and 5mm Clear Round Drops.

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the
Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD490 so we can see your beauty all in one place, and use #ctd490 and #colorthrowdown on social media. Hope to see you there! Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week, including our incredibly talented April Guest Designer, Hannelie Bester!

cardkitdayrelease_2018apr17b

cardkitday1_2018apr15

Hello and welcome to Day One of MFT’s April Card Kit, Stitched Blooms! The kit includes Stitched Blooms Die-namics and lots of colorful card stock—perfect for flower making.

Print

For this card I used some of the warm colors from the kit. I cut a lot of flower parts and leaves, then assembled the flowers. With Blueprints 31 Die-namics, I cut a panel then dry embossed with Radiating Rays Stencil and popped it up on foam on the card base. Then I cut the center element from Black & White Stripes Patterned Paper and popped it up, as well.

cardkitday1_2018apr15b

Next I arranged and adhered the flowers and leaves and the sentiment which was created by cutting Celebrate Die-namics three times and adhering them in a stack. To finish off I added some Sparkling Crystals from the kit.

And that’s it for Day One of MFT’s April Card Kit, Stitched Blooms. Thanks so much for stopping by! Be sure to stop by the

Let’s Celebrate–MFT April Birthday Project Challenge

birthdayprojectchallenge_2018apr19

Hi, everyone, I’m back with this month’s Birthday Project Challenge! Are you ready? This month we’re challenged to make a shaker card. All of the details about the challenge are available on the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

Print

I decided to make a balloon shaker element that you can see through to the sentiment inside the card. To do this, I made two Balloon STAX Die-namics “windows” that are mirror images of each other, one in the card base and one in another piece of card stock, separated the two with foam tape, and added shaker fillers to the resulting cavity.

birthdayprojectchallenge_2018apr19b

I stamped two sentiments, one on the outside and one on the inside, from Handwritten Happiness and added a sweet little chick from BB Birthday Chicks. To finish off I added some Gold Sparkle card stock stars.

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the
MFT Challenge Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. One winner is chosen at random each week!

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!

Congrats–MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #381

MFTWSC381_2018apr18

Hi, everyone, I’m back with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

MFT_WSC_381

I stuck pretty true to the sketch this week, although I used a die-cut word instead of the sentiment strip. I created a shaker element out of the circle using Jumbo Peek-a-Boo Windows Die-namics, Heat Resistant Acetate, foam mounting tape, Spring Meadow Sequins and Silver Shimmer Seed Beads.

MFTWSC381_2018apr18b

I popped the card front up on foam on the base, that was covered with Tiny Checks Patterned Paper, adhered the Congrats Die-namics, cut from Cornflower Sparkle Card Stock, and finished off with some Sprinkles.

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the MFT Challenge Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. One winner is chosen at random each week!

Thanks so much for stopping by! See you soon!

Fiesta Like There’s No MaƱana–Color Throwdown Challenge #489

CTD489_2018apr18

Hey everybody, welcome to a brand new Color Throwdown Challenge! Vickie is our hostess this week and she has challenged us to some bright colors based on her refreshing inspiration piece.

swatch489

I used a lot of neutrals on this card on purpose because I can only think of red and green as Christmas, LOL! I’m using Llama Love Stamp Set and Die-namics, colored with Copic markers and I added some colored pencil texture to the llama. The background was created by spreading molding paste through English Brick Wall Stencil and after it dried sponged Latte dye ink though the stencil.

CTD489_2018apr18b

The colored images were popped up on foam tape for dimension. I cut Fiesta Die-namics three times, layered them together and adhered to the top of the card. I finished the sentiment by heat embossing it on Black Licorice card stock and also popping it up on foam tape.

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily.
