Let’s Celebrate–MFT April Birthday Project Challenge

birthdayprojectchallenge_2018apr19

Hi, everyone, I’m back with this month’s Birthday Project Challenge! Are you ready? This month we’re challenged to make a shaker card. All of the details about the challenge are available on the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

I decided to make a balloon shaker element that you can see through to the sentiment inside the card. To do this, I made two Balloon STAX Die-namics “windows” that are mirror images of each other, one in the card base and one in another piece of card stock, separated the two with foam tape, and added shaker fillers to the resulting cavity.

birthdayprojectchallenge_2018apr19b

I stamped two sentiments, one on the outside and one on the inside, from Handwritten Happiness and added a sweet little chick from BB Birthday Chicks. To finish off I added some Gold Sparkle card stock stars.

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the
MFT Challenge Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. One winner is chosen at random each week!

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!

Congrats–MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #381

MFTWSC381_2018apr18

Hi, everyone, I’m back with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

MFT_WSC_381

I stuck pretty true to the sketch this week, although I used a die-cut word instead of the sentiment strip. I created a shaker element out of the circle using Jumbo Peek-a-Boo Windows Die-namics, Heat Resistant Acetate, foam mounting tape, Spring Meadow Sequins and Silver Shimmer Seed Beads.

MFTWSC381_2018apr18b

I popped the card front up on foam on the base, that was covered with Tiny Checks Patterned Paper, adhered the Congrats Die-namics, cut from Cornflower Sparkle Card Stock, and finished off with some Sprinkles.

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the MFT Challenge Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. One winner is chosen at random each week!

Thanks so much for stopping by! See you soon!

Fiesta Like There’s No Mañana–Color Throwdown Challenge #489

CTD489_2018apr18

Hey everybody, welcome to a brand new Color Throwdown Challenge! Vickie is our hostess this week and she has challenged us to some bright colors based on her refreshing inspiration piece.

swatch489

I used a lot of neutrals on this card on purpose because I can only think of red and green as Christmas, LOL! I’m using Llama Love Stamp Set and Die-namics, colored with Copic markers and I added some colored pencil texture to the llama. The background was created by spreading molding paste through English Brick Wall Stencil and after it dried sponged Latte dye ink though the stencil.

CTD489_2018apr18b

The colored images were popped up on foam tape for dimension. I cut Fiesta Die-namics three times, layered them together and adhered to the top of the card. I finished the sentiment by heat embossing it on Black Licorice card stock and also popping it up on foam tape.

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD489 so we can see your beauty all in one place, and use #ctd489 and #colorthrowdown on social media. Hope to see you there! Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week, including our incredibly talented April Guest Designer, Hannelie Bester!

MFTCPC91_2018apr12

Yeah, I really do love these triangles ;-) They are just so stinkin’ versatile!! I started by cutting a bunch of them from Ranger Watercolor Paper using two sizes, then watercolored them in the challenge colors. I watered down some gold craft paint and splattered them, then set them aside to dry. Then I cut Congrats Die-namics from Gold Sparkle card stock and two copies from white scrap paper and adhered them together in a stack.

MFTCPC91_2018apr12b

Next I popped up some Sweet Tooth card stock on a Sweet Tooth card stock base with foam tape and began to lay out my triangles. Once I had them arranged to please me, I started adhering them with foam tape. Then I adhered the Congrats sentiment, a few small gold triangles, and finished off with matching Sprinkles.

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the MFT Challenge Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. One winner is chosen at random each week!

MFT_WSC_380
I started by creating my background with Mini Cloud Edges Stencil and Blue Breeze dye ink. Next I cut the circle using Inside & Out Circle STAX and used it to judge where to put my light wires, which were created with a Black Copic Multi Liner pen and a ruler. Then I added some Grassy Hills Die-namics cut from Jellybean Green and Gumdrop Green card stocks, then popped the circle “frame” up on foam tape

MFTWSC380_2018apr11b

Then I added the sentiment, heat embossed on Black Licorice card stock, the birds from A Tweet Hello that I had colored in my stash, and the hearts, from Toad-ally Awesome Stamp Set and Die-namics. I finished off with a trio of Sprinkles and was done!

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the

You’re a Treasure–Color Throwdown Challenge #488

CTD488_2018apr11

Hello and welcome to a brand new Color Throwdown Challenge! This week Lynn is challenging us with some fresh colors based on her lovely inspiration piece.

swatch488

Sometimes the inspiration piece really drives my design but not this time, LOL! I was looking though my stamps and spied this parrot and that’s all she wrote! A tropical themed card was born!

I was aiming for a “looking through a rock formation” look so used Oval STAX Die-namics to build it out with the island scene in the distance. I watercolored the background, stamped and colored the images with Copic markers, and staged the treasure chest within the “cave”.

CTD488_2018apr11b

The sentiment was stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with gold detail embossing powder to carry through on the treasure theme. I thought it needed something else so I added the palm tree from Beach Scene Builder Die-namics.

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the

There’s a 100% Chance of Happiness with MFT and Friends

MFTandFriends_2018apr10

Today our team is taking a fresh look at our most recent release with inspiring ideas and innovative takes on the complete collection. We love the opportunity to look at our products with fresh eyes, envisioning entirely new ways to showcase the possibilities they present. We can’t wait to share our ideas with you!

This new
MFT and Friends feature is taking the place of Release Replay. Be sure to check by the MFT Blog for more details on it :)

MFTandFriends

I didn’t have a chance to use this darling BB Puddle Jumper Stamp Set and Die-namics during Release I got him out for this card. He’s colored with Copic markers and popped up on foam in a scene created with Mini Cloud Edges Stencil background and sponged with Cement Gray dye ink for the ground.

MFTandFriends_2018apr10b

I stamped the sentiment and added the chick and puddle from BB Rain or Shine Stamp Set and Die-namics, a Sunny Skies Die-namics sun, and Stitched Rainbow and Stitched Clouds Die-namics.

And there you have it for this month’s MFT and Friends post. Thanks so much for stopping by! See you soon!

Congrats–MFT April Release Tips & Tricks

countdownday1_2018apr2

Hello and welcome to another new Release feature at MFT. Today we’re sharing Tips & Tricks to share some cool ideas with you using the latest Release products.

MFT_TipsTricks_Blog

To create this card I began by stenciling my background using Mini Cloud Edges Stencil, Blue Breeze Dye Ink, and a sponge dauber, then cut it with Cloud Shaker Window and Frame Die-namics and Pop-Up Numbers Die-namics. I created the shaker element using Cloud Shaker Pouches, Onyx Crystals, Marshmallow seed beads, and some tiny gold stars from my stash. Next I stamped the sentiment from Aim for the Clouds Stamp Set and added Congrats Die-namics, cut from Gold Shine card stock.

I liked it but it needed something else. When I was looking at Piñata Die-namics I thought, “Hmmmm, I think one could made a sweet little tassel out of that”. So I did ;-)

tipsandtricks_2018apr5c

I used the second layer from the bottom—the fullest layer, snipped the fringe up about twice the length that the die cut it, added some 1/8” ScorTape, and rolled it around a gold cord. It made the cutest little tassel!

tipsandtricks_2018apr5d

For the mortar board, I used Bedside Comfort for the top--it had the angle I was looking for. I cut it once for the first two sides, then moved the die 180 degrees for the other side. You have a good bit of latitude for size with this but I was trying to match it to the size of my tassel so stayed fairly small.

tipsandtricks_2018apr5e

I had a Circle STAX scrap in my stash so I used that and cut the cap with Oval STAX Set 1 to get the proper curves.

tipsandtricks_2018apr5f

I popped the top up on the cap with foam tape and secured the cord with Beetle Black Sprinkles.

tipsandtricks_2018apr5g

On the inside I stamped the sentiment from Tassel Time and it was done!
