Sending You Sunshine–Crazy 4 Challenges #550

Hello, welcome to another
Crazy 4 Challenges post! Today is my last guest spot for the month—it’s been a ton of fun to play along with the team this month! This week’s challenge is retro. I think this beach scene qualifies, don’t you?

I started by watercoloring my background with Peerless Watercolors and adhered it to a Sweet Tooth card stock base. Next I cut Natural card stock with Inside & Out Stitched Circle STAX Die-namics and framed the background by popping it up on foam tape—this also acts as the beach element. I added a few elements from Beach Scene Builder Die-namics to complete the scene, along with Petite Clouds Die-namics.

Next I stamped images from Sun-Lovin’ Santa Stamp Set with Extreme Black hybrid ink on No Line Coloring card stock, cut them out with coordinating Die-namics, colored with Copic markers and popped them up in the scene. To finish off, I added a heat embossed sentiment on Black Licorice card stock cut with Skinny Strips Die-namics, also with foam tape.

And that’s it from me today! Be sure to check out what the Crazy 4 Challenges team has to show you, too, and hope to see you playing along!

Sending Holiday Cheer for MFT/Pear Blossom Press Collaboration!

Hello and welcome to a super fun collaboration between
MFT and Pear Blossom Press! We’re using their EZ Lights today and let me tell you, they ARE easy! Be sure to get all the details HERE at the MFT Blog.

If you’ve been frustrated with other lights like I have you will find these to be AMAZINGLY easy to use—all the connections have been done for you—all you need to do is decide on placement and go from there! I am in LOVE with them!

So, on to my card. I knew I wanted to use the lights for the headlights in Carpool Die-namics and thought a nighttime scene would be fun so I started looking through stamp sets for images that would fit the windshield area. I ran across BB Old Friends and immediately a theme came together in my head—Grandma and Grandpa heading to see the kids for Christmas!!! Bingo!!!

First I constructed the car then stamped the images on No Line Coloring card stock with Extreme Black hybrid ink, cut them out with the coordinating Die-namics, and colored them with Copic markers. I adhered them to the car and added a Gravel Gray card stock back, as if it was nighttime in the car. Fa-la-la which is part of a sentiment from Bitty Holiday Wishes was stamped on the license plate.

Next I created the background—After Midnight card stock with Stitched Snow Drifts Die-namics cut from Sweet Tooth card stock and On the Road Die-namics cut from Gravel Gray card stock with Pineapple card stock for the line. Then I had to decide where the lights would go—I positioned the car on the card front and, using the die itself marked where the holes need to be punched. After that was done I could add my lights to a Sweet Tooth card stock base—I taped the lights and the battery holder down with clear tape and popped the card front up on top with two layers of foam tape.

I added the finished car and trees from ‘Tis the Season Stamp Set and Die-namics along with gifts from Sun Lovin’ Santa Stamp Set and Die-namics. One gift is flying off the stack—the old folks are in a hurry to get to those grandkids—and that was used as the “Push” element. Once all that was done, I splattered it all over with white craft paint for a lovely snow storm. I finished off with a heat embossed sentiment from ‘Tis the Season Stamp Set.

And there you have it! I had so much fun creating this card for the MFT/Pear Blossom Press Collaboration! Be sure to check by the MFT Blog to see more amazing inspiration! Thanks so much for stopping by! See you soon!

Feline Spooky - MFT Color Challenge #148

Hi, all, I'm back with the latest
MFT Color Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s color combo: Grout Gray, Steel Gray, Orange Zest, and Blueberry. All of the details about the color challenge are available on the MFT Blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

I went all CAS with this card, starting with a watercolor wash background using Peerless Watercolors on Ranger Watercolor paper. After splattering it some clean water and white craft paint, I popped it up on a Sweet Tooth card stock base using a sheet of fun foam. Watercolor washes usually warp the paper for me and this is a great way to make it lie smoothly AND give it dimension.

Next I stamped the images from Best Witches Stamp Set, cut them out with the coordinating Die-namics, colored them with Copic markers, and popped them up on the card front. The sentiment was heat embossed on Steel Gray card stock and also popped up on foam tape for the finish.

So there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the
MFT Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. Winners are chosen at random, so everyone has a chance!
Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!

Hello–MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #504

Hi, everyone, I’m back with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

I thought a bouquet of Flower Silhouette images would look good on this sketch so I proceeded with it :) First I stamped the images with Black Licorice dye ink and cut them out with the coordinating Die-namics. Next I prepped the background, dry embossing Sweet Tooth card stock with Inward Elements Stencil then spattering it with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and black acrylic ink, then adhering it to a Kraft card stock base with foam tape.

'

Next I cut Tall Tags Die-namics from Strathmore Bristol Smooth card stock and sponged it with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and spattered with clean water, then popped it up on the card front with foam tape. The bundle of images was tied together with hemp cord, along with a Stitched Traditional Tag STAX Die-namics cut from Kraft card stock and stamped with a sentiment from Main Squeeze Stamp Set and adhered to the card front.

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the MFT Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. Winners are chosen at random, so everyone has a chance!

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!

I Can’t Thank You Enough–Color Throwdown Challenge #608

Hello there and welcome to another
Color Throwdown Challenge!! This week Lynn is our hostess and she has a lovely palette for us to work with based on her gorgeous inspiration piece.

I went with more saturated shades because I wanted to watercolor through Inward Elements Stencil. Once the watercoloring was done, I splattered with clean water and gold and black acrylic ink, then popped the panel up on Black Licorice card stock and then directly to a Sweet Tooth card stock base.

Next I added Thank You Die-namics, cut from Gold Sparkle Die-namics and popped it up on foam for dimension. The design was completed with parts of a sentiment from Bitty Thanks & Gratitude, heat embossed with gold detail embossing powder. The only thing left to do was to add a few gold glitter enamel dots.

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD608 so we can see your beauty all in one place, and use #ctd608 and #colorthrowdown on social media. Hope to see you there! Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week!

I couldn’t manage the stars on the ceiling but I did make a pink RV--ifyou get that reference let me know in a comment ;-) I used paper from Road Trippin’ Paper pad for the body and embellished it with assorted card stock.

I cut a frame from Sweet Tooth card stock with Elegant Rectangle STAX and popped it up on foam tape on a background sponged with Gumdrop Green dye ink and On the Road Die-namics cut from Steel Gray card stock with a Pineapple stripe. The images were stamped on No Line Coloring card stock with Extreme Black hybrid ink, cut out with the coordinating Die-namics, colored with Copic markers and added to the RV with foam tape and then onto the card front, also with foam tape.

I added a couple of strips of patterned paper and then the sentiment, heat embossed on Tropical Tal card stock, all cut with Stitched Fishtail Sentiment strips and popped up on foam. I finished off with some glitter enamel dots.

One Day Until MFT August Card Kit, Better Together Release

Hello and welcome to the second and last day of Release Countdown for
MFT’s August Card Kit, Better Together! Release is tomorrow, August 24th, at 10am Eastern so set your clocks! Be sure to check by the MFT Blog for all the details and more inspiration from the Design Team.

You know those state vanity license plates with scenery behind the numbers? That’s what I’m channeling for this card, LOL! It all started with trying to come up with an idea to use with the sentiment from the set that’s on this card—I often do that: let a sentiment help me with design ideas.

To begin, I created the background using Drifts & Hills and Rolling Clouds Stencils along with Gumdrop Green and Blue Breeze dye inks. I wanted to use a piece of Road Trippin’ Paper Pad but since I’m using Slimline Starter Die-namics, it wasn’t long enough so I created my own, heat embossing the yellow lines on Black Licorice card stock. FINALLY using that embossing powder that’s been in my stash for YEARS!

Once the background was done, I stamped the images on No Line Coloring card stock with Extreme Black hybrid ink, cut them out with the coordinating Die-namics, and colored them with Copic markers.

Next I sponged Cornflower Blue dye ink and a little Black Soot Distress Ink on Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper and cut the word “BESTIES” out with Impact Alphabet. The images were tucked behind and on the letters, and popped up on foam tape. To continue the license place theme, I added “GRATEFUL” at the top and '”STATE OF MIND” at the bottom, cut with Captions Alphabet from Black Licorice and Poppy card stocks and adhered them directly. I finished off with the sentiment that started the whole thing, heat embossed on Black Licorice card stock and also popped up on foam.

And that’s it from me today! Thanks SO much for stopping by! See you back tomorrow with anther card for the release of MFT’s August Card Kit, Better Together!

Better Together Card Kit from MFT Available in Two Days!!

Hello and welcome to Day Two of MFT’s August Card Kit Countdown! This month’s card kit is called Better Together and is chocked full of fun! It will be released on August 25th at 10am Eastern so make a note! Be sure to check by the MFT Blog for all the details!

I had so much fun putting this scene together! I wanted to make it appear that the car full of happy friends was just coming over a hill and on the way to another adventure. To begin, I sponged the sky with Blue Breeze dye ink and Rolling Clouds Stencil, then added Gumdrop Green card stock cut with Grassy Hills Die-namics in dimensional layers. Next I added On the Road Die-namics, cut from Black Licorice card stock with a Sweet Tooth card stock center line, the sun, cut from Pineapple card stock with Beach Scene Builder Die-namics and Petite Clouds Die-namics cut from Sweet Tooth card stock to complete the background.

The images were stamped on No Line Coloring card stock with Extreme Black hybrid ink, cut out with the coordinating Die-namics, and colored with Copic markers and set aside while I used Lemon Drop card stock to construct the super adorable mini bus!!!!! How stinking CUTE it that? And so retro!

The critters were added to the scene—first arranged and then adhered to the mini bus with foam tape and then on the card front, also with foam tape. Here’s a close up to show how I used clear card stock for the windshield! Adorbs!

To finish off, the sentiment from the set was heat embossed on Poppy card stock cut with Fishtail Flag Trio die-namics and adhered to foam tape.

And that’s all from me today! Thanks so much for stopping by! See you back tomorrow for Day One of MFT’s August Card Kit Countdown!
