Cheers to You - MFT January Birthday Project Challenge

Babies born in January have double the reason to celebrate! They get to welcome a new calendar year and enjoy the observance of their birth all in the same month. This month, we've challenged our team to recognize both milestones with birthday cards featuring the word cheers. We'll toast to that!

I went with a bright rainbow background for my Mondo Cheers Die-namics focal point with a partial sentiment from Well, Hello Stamp Set. The background was done using Ken Oliver Color Bursts Brights and Fresh Florals and a waterbrush. Once it was dry, I spattered it with clean water and black acrylic ink and popped it up on a Sweet Tooth card stock base with strips of Black & White Stripes Paper Pack at the top and bottom.

Part of a sentiment from Well, Hello Stamp Set was heat embossed on Black Licorice Card Stock cut with Skinny Strips Die-namics and adhered to the card front. I cut Mondo Cheers Die-namics from Gold Sparkle card stock and twice from scraps of white, adhered them together in a stack and then onto the card front for the finish.

Now, it's your turn. You have until Wednesday, February 12, at noon EST to add your link and be eligible for the prize of $50 in MFT Cash to be spent in the MFT boutique. Winners are chosen at random, so everyone has a chance!

Thanks so much for stopping by! See you soon!

Thinking of You - MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #472

Hi, everyone, I’m back with this week’s
MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

I didn’t want to add strips of card stock or patterned paper so I looked around for something I could stamp for the vertical elements and came up with this: Distressed Patterns has this awesome image that worked perfectly when stamped in three colors! I love these three colors together: Sour Apple, Blu Raspberry, and Orange Zest and carried them throughout my design. I added Fab Foliage Die-namics cut from Sour Apple card stock and chose a dragonfly from Fluttering Friends Stamp Set for the focal point. It was stamped with Extreme Black hybrid ink, cut out with the coordinating Die-namics, colored with Copic markers, and added to the foliage with foam tape for dimension.

The sentiment from the set was heat embossed on Black Licorice card stock cut with Essential Fishtail Sentiment Strips Die-namics, popped up on foam and I finished off with some matching enamel dots.

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the MFT Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. One winner is chosen at random each week!

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!

You Have a Heart of Gold–Color Throwdown Challenge #576

Hi there, welcome to a new
Color Throwdown Challenge! This week Lisa is our hostess and she’s challenging us to a lovely palette based on her cozy inspiration piece.

I decided to use gold for the mustard and I think it works wonderfully. First I did a watercolor wash background on Ranger Watercolor paper with Peerless Watercolors (the turquoise is more teal IRL) and after it dried splattered it with gold acrylic ink and popped it up on a Sweet Tooth card stock base with foam tape. Then I cut Hearts Entwined Die-namics from Gold Shine card stock and adhered it with spray adhesive.

The sentiment is from Smitten with You Stamp Set and I’ve been wanting to use it since I got the set so I thought this was perfect. It was heat embossed with gold detail embossing powder on Black Licorice card stock cut with Skinny Strips Die-namics and adhered with foam tape for dimension. I finished off with some enamel dots and was done!!

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD576 so we can see your beauty all in one place, and use #ctd576 and #colorthrowdown on social media. Hope to see you there! Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week, including our super talented January Guest Designer, Amy Tsuruta!

Message in a Bottle Card Kit from MFT Release!!

Hello, it’s time!
MFT’s January Card Kit, Message in a Bottle, is now available for purchase in the MFT Online Boutique! Be sure to stop by the MFT Blog for all the details. I have one more card for you using this adorable kit and I had a ton of fun making it.

My other two cards had the bottle bobbing along on the waves but I wanted this one to be washed up on the beach. So to begin, I created a watercolor background using Ken Oliver Color Bursts: Flower Fresh, Brights, and Rich Moroccan Shades and added a little foam at the shoreline with white craft paint. Once that dried I cut it with Message in a Bottle Die-namics and added the shaker pouch. Before I adhered it in, though, I cut a slit at the top to allow me to actually insert the cork sheet die cut INTO the bottle. Yay! Love how that turned out! I had to add a little foam shim under the cork but that keeps it level as well as adhered. Win-win!

Then I added the sentiments from Little Love Notes Stamp Set, cut with Little Notes Die-namics and sponged with Old Paper Distress Ink along with some seed beads to simulate sand. I closed it up and adhered it to a Sweet Tooth card stock base and finished the scene with elements from Beach Scene Builder Die-namics. I love this card!

Thanks so much for stopping by! See you soon! Now go shop!
