Warmest Wishes–MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #314

MFTWSC314_2017jan5

Hi, everyone, I’m back with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

I thought I’d make another Winter card using this sweet BB Warmest Wishes set that I hadn’t used in a while. I started with a Sweet Tooth card stock base and covered it with Watercolor Wash Brights Paper Pack. Then I cut more Sweet Tooth card stock with Blueprints 20 Die-namics, applied molding paste through Snowfall Stencil, allowed it to dry, and popped it up on the base with foam mounting tape.

I stamped the image with Black Licorice hybrid ink on X-Press It Blending card, colored it with Copic markers, and popped it up on foam as well. I recently cleaned all my Copic markers and refilled where needed and finally got around to filling in the colors on Sandy Allnock’s hex chart (love that thing—you need it if you don’t already have it!). As I was adding colors I became very aware that I keep using the same colors and needed to branch out. Today’s colors are branching out :)

So, then I popped her up on foam, stamped the sentiment from
BB Toasty Greetings (I needed a smaller profile element there so as to not obscure too much of the main image) with Versamark on Black Licorice card stock cut with Blueprints 22 Die-namics, heat embossed with white detail embossing powder, popped it up on foam and was done!

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the
MFT Challenge Blog. You have the chance to win a $20 in MFT voucher. One winner is chosen at random each week!

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!

Thinking of You–CTD #424

CTD424_2017jan4

Hello and welcome to the first Color Throwdown Challenge of 2017! Happy New Year to everyone—hope you’re ready to get inky! This week’s hostess is Amy Rohl and she has chosen her colors based on this gorgeous inspiration piece.

I love how this card turned out—but then, when you’re working with these awesome poppies how could you not, right? I started with a Sweet Tooth card stock base and added a strip of Dots & Stripes Neutral Paper Pack down the left side. Next I stamped a piece of Ranger Watercolor Paper with the script image from LJD Pretty Poppies. I used Black Licorice hybrid ink, stamped off and then stamped lightly because I wanted just a hint of the script showing up. Then I did a watercolor wash background with Peerless Watercolors and popped it up on foam mounting tape on the base after stamping the sentiment.

Next I stamped the images from LJD Delicate Pretty Poppies, cut them out with LJD Poppies and Leaves Die-namics, colored them with Peerless Watercolors and a waterbrush, and popped them up on foam to finish.

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the
Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD424 so we can see your beauty all in one place, and use #ctd424 and #colorthrowdown on social media. Hope to see you there! Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week, including our incredibly talented January Guest Designer, Leigh Penner! Since December was a short month, we’re keeping Leigh on for another month—I’m sure you’re as delighted about that as we are!
