Hi, all, I'm back with the latest MFT Color Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s color combo: Lemon Drop, Orange Fizz, Grape Jelly, and Black Licorice. All of the details about the color challenge are available on the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

When I first looked at this palette all I could think of was Halloween. But Halloween is gone so I tried to come up with something Christmas-y with these colors. Happily, I was looking out of my window at the sunset and got the idea to use the colors for a sunset. I think it works. I sponged my sky, added Modern Trees Stamp Set, Snow Drifts Die-namics, and Birch Trees and Solid Birch Trees to build my scene.



The sentiment is from Dashing Deer and was stamped before I popped that layer up on foam tape. The only thing left to do was to cut Deer Love from Black Licorice card stock and pop them up in the scent to finish off. I’m liking it!

Merry & Bright–MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #358

Hi, everyone, I’m back with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

Am I the only one who keeps certain cards you make? Once in a while there’s a card that I’m so happy with that I want to keep it. There aren’t many but a couple of years ago I made a card similar to this one and I’ve always regretted letting it go so I’m using it as inspiration for this week’s sketch card. I sponged the background (ink colors listed below) and used the circle of light for the circle of the sketch.




I added Snow Drifts Die-namics for the bottom element with the sentiment from Hand Lettered holidays and popped up a Streetlights Die-namics to pull the design together. The holly sprig is from BB Santa’s Elves, stamped, colored, and fussy cut out before adding it to the streetlight. To finish off, I splattered the sky and the streetlight with watered down white craft paint before adding it to the scene.

You Have a Heart of Gold–CTD #468

Hey, everyone, welcome back to a brand new Color Throwdown Challenge! This week Lynn has a very Fall-ish palette for us so I went with a Fall-ish design.




I started by sponging my background using Drifts & Hills Stencil and Jellybean Green dye ink and Orange Fizz dye ink. I stamped some trees from Modern Trees stamp set with Chocolate Brown dye ink and added some shadows with a Copic marker. I figured the branches might not throw much a shadow so I ignored them ;-)



Then I tore the edges all around and popped it up on a Kraft card stock base with foam tape. I added a sentiment from Kind Thanks stamp set, heat embossed with gold embossing powder on a strip of Chocolate Brown card stock. Twice the Thanks Die-namics was cut from Brushed Gold card stock and twice more from Sweet Tooth card stock, stacked, and adhered.

My Favorite Things November New Product Release

Before I continue, I have to tell you that I am dee-lited to have a class in this month’s Release Classes. You can find it and more from talented MFT Designers HERE on the MFT site.




I used the gorgeous Mesmerizing Mandala Die-namics as the focal point of my first card. I cut it out of Sweet Tooth card stock three times, adhered them together for dimension, and adhered it directly to a Kraft card stock card base.



Next I added a partial sentiment from Essential Sentiments, neat embossed on Black Licorice card stock and then Joy Die-namics, also cut three times from Poppy card stock, stacked, and adhered with foam. I finished off with some clear sequins.

Next up a dramatic Christmas card design.



I’m using After Midnight card stock along with Gold Sparkle and Silver Sparkle card stocks on this card. I added Linked Chain Circle Frames around the Starry Circle Die-namics and popped the deer up on foam for dimension.



The stars on the antlers were cut with Balloon Shaker Window & Frame and the sentiment is from Dashing Deer, heat embossed with gold embossing powder. Some Shining Stars Die-namics stars were added for accent and finish it off.

My Favorite Things November Release Countdown, Day One

For my first card today I paired some gingham patterned paper from Tiny Checks Brights with Layered Snowflakes Die-namics, I love the contrast between the delicate layers and homespun gingham.



To add more contrast, I added some Silver Sparkle card stock in the snowflake layers and Stitched Scallop Basic Edges. The sentiment is from Dashing Deer and was stamped with Cornflower Dye ink.

My second card uses Congratulations Circle Frame for a shaker card.



The sentiment is from LJD Together Forever and I added some Black & White Basics paper pack down the side with Gold Sparkle card stock as an accent.



When my shaker element was complete, I popped it up on the base with foam tape and added a couple of wine glasses from Wine Service Die-namics.
