Warmest Wishes for a Happy Holiday - MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #463

 

Hi, everyone, I’m back with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. So I had to do an ornament for this sketch, right? And of course I had to make that ornament a shaker element, right? To start, I did a watercolor wash on Ranger Watercolor paper with Peerless Watercolors and dried it with a heat tool. Because I can never wait. Then I cut the opening with Circle STAX Set 1, adhered clear acetate card stock on the back with 1/8” Scor-Tape and cut a fun foam sheet to fit complete with the circle cut out. I like to use a fun foam back when I have paper that’s warped like watercoloring will do and in this case it acted as my shaker element “dam”, too. Once that was in place I added sequins and seed beads and closed up the back with Sweet Tooth card stock. Because I didn’t plan ahead, I had to pry up the edge a bit to add my silver cord for the hanger but it all worked out :)

For the cap, I cut Silver Shine card stock with Tag Builder Blueprints Die-namics, popped it up on foam on each side of the cord, and added the bow. Next I stamped Serene Snowflakes on Translucent Vellum, heat embossed with silver detail embossing powder, cut it out with the coordinating Die-namics and adhered it to the front of the ornament with clear foam tape. The sentiment is from LLD Hug in a Mug Stamp Set and was done the same way, on a Stitched Fishtail Sentiment Strip Die-namics die cut.

Season’s Greetings–Color Throwdown Challenge #569

Hi everyone, welcome to another Color Throwdown Challenge! This week Vickie is our hostess and she has chosen some colors based on this romantic inspiration piece.

It’s a challenge to me to see if I can get a Christmas card out of any color combo, LOL!! This one was easy with the green. First I used Jellybean Green and Sour Apple die inks and Hand-Lettered Holiday Greetings Stamp Set to create my pine bough on No Line Coloring card stock, then I stamped the ornament from BB Santa’s Elves Stamp Set with Extreme Black hybrid ink along with the sentiment, from Hand Lettered Holiday Stamp Set.

I colored the ornaments with Copic markers, drew the string with a black Copic Multiliner, and added highlights with a white gel pen and popped it up on a Sweet Tooth card stock base with foam tape for the finish! Easy peasy!

OK, so I might have mentioned how much I love the just released Party Lights Stamp Set and Die-namics, right? So here it is again creating a frame around a sentiment. This set is so versatile I can see using it for many occasions!! Today I started by stamping the light cord around the perimeter of the Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper panel and the sentiment from Hand-Lettered Holiday Greetings with Extreme Black hybrid ink and then sponging Summer Splash dye ink on the cord.

That panel was adhered to a Sweet Tooth card stock base and Party Lights Die-namics cut from the challenge colors and popped up on bits of foam tape for some dimension. I love this!

I started this card by sponging Tumbled Glass Distress ink on Strathmore Bristol Smooth card stock and then spread molding paste through Peace, Love, & Joy Stencil. While it was drying I added some Black & White Strip Paper Pack across the bottom of a Sweet Tooth card stock base, then cut Perfect Poinsettia Die-namics from Ranger Watercolor Paper. I colored the poinsettia with Peerless Watercolors then spattered with clean water and black acrylic ink. Once the molding paste was dry, I adhered that panel to the card base with foam tape, assembled the poinsettia and adhered it with hot glue.

The sentiment from Snow Globe Greetings was heat embossed on Black Licorice card stock cut with Essential Fishtail Sentiment Strips Die-namics and adhered with foam tape.

With Gratitude–Color Throwdown Challenge #568

Hi everyone, welcome to a new Color Throwdown Challenge! This week’s colors have a definite Autumn vibe, chosen by Lynn based on this gorgeous inspiration piece.




I truly love Joyful Wreath Die-namics from the recent MFT Release and I’m here to show you it’s not just for Christmas. First I have to admit I spaced out and used a Sweet Tooth card stock base—should have been a cream colored base. To created the wreath I cut it three times from Sweet Tooth card stock and sponged each one with a different ink. I used Gathered Twigs, Carved Pumpkin, and Bundled Sage Distress Inks and cut two of the wreaths into “fronds”. It’s easier to fill in that way. Then I adhered on wreath on the card front and added the “fronds” one at a time to make it fuller.

The berries were cut from Orange Zest card stock and adhered to the wreath. The sentiment is from Bitty Thanks & Gratitude and was heat embossed with gold detail embossing powder on Milk Chocolate card stock cut with Fishtail Flag Trio Die-namics. I popped that up on foam tape and finished off with some gold glitter enamel dots.
