Everything Old Is New Again–Catered Crop Recipe Challenge

1cateredcrop_2014sep2

A thread at the Splitcoast Stampers forum, Stamping Graveyard, made Linda nostalgic for paper craft supplies, embellishments and tools that have come, gone, come back, or left for good.

For this challenge just raid your paper craft stash for anything you think needs a resurgence and . . .

  • Include a link to us at Catered Crop or add our button, which you can grab on our sidebar or at our {button gallery}.
  • Link up and link often, but be sure you link up by 8:00 PM EST on Saturday, September 13.
  • In honor of the Splitcoast Stampers thread that started this all you can also upload your project to the Splitcoast Stampers gallery with the keyword NEWAGAIN.
  • Keep the party hopping by visiting the other players and leaving comments.
  • Check back with us on September 14 to see if you’ve won an opportunity to be a guest designer

Here’s a Pinterest board of suggestions for supplies and tools that might need some new found love: Everything Old is New Again.  But don’t limit yourself to these suggestions - just grab anything from your stash that you think might feel a little neglected and give it some new-found love.

Confession time: in my craft room, when things go off trend, they usually see themselves hitting the road and I rarely regret getting rid of things—I’m all about moving on ;-) BUT I do still have some spiral clips hanging around so I got them out for this challenge.

I started with a Sweet Tooth Card Stock base, onto which I stamped Romantic Script Background with Black Licorice Ink. then I stenciled a Steel Gray Card Stock panel with MPD Graduated Hearts Stencil and some embossing paste and adhered it to the base. I added a Blu Raspberry Card Stock panel stamped with Grid Background and Black Licorice Ink, then a Stitched Circle STAX Die-namics cut from Sweet Tooth Card Stock and stamped with a sentiment from LJD Together Forever using Black Licorice Ink. I popped the last two elements up on foam, then added a Fishtail Flags STAX Die-namics cut from a piece of Sweet Tooth Card Stock stamped with Black Licorice Ink and Striped Backgrounds. I clipped them together with my spiral clip, then tied on some matching baker’s twine. The finishing touch was a few sparkly enamel dots.

Another sentiment from LJD Together Forever was stamped on the inside with Steel Gray Ink.

Guest Designing for Add a Little Dazzle!

GD4AALD_2014aug25

Hi, everyone! I am so honored to be guest designing today for Add a Little Dazzle! If you’re not familiar with them, they specialize in Craft Metal Sheets that can be die cut and embossed for cards, scrapbooking, 3D items and more.

Before I tell you about my project, I have to tell you that Add a Little Dazzle is having a little give away—a 5-sheet pack of metal sheets along with a product from MFT! How cool is that? To qualify for the drawing, you must comment on this post AND on the post at Add a Little Dazzle. Do that and you’ll be automatically entered. Deadline for entering is Friday, August 29th. Be sure to get all the details at the AALD blog. Monica, owner of Add A Little Dazzle, is also going to have a special sample pack available for sale that will include some free PDF tutorials to help you get started with metal craft sheets.

So, about my card :) I started with a Steel Gray card stock base, then on some Sweet Tooth card stock and with Grout Gray ink, I stamped Romantic Script Background. With Steel Gray ink, I over stamped that with a sentiment from LJD Together Forever. Then I started working with the Craft Metal Sheets. I used a Golden Glimmer Metal Sheet to cut out a Rectangle Frames Die-namics frame and I adhered it to my card front with foam tape. I cut the strips of foam tape to about 1/8” wide and placed them on the outside edge. By doing this, I could carefully “mold” the metal frame down towards the center so it looks so much like a real frame! Love that look!

Next I cut out a Leaf-Filled Flourish Die-namics from a Perfect Peacock Metal Sheet, attached it to the corner of my card and started to create my flowers. I used a Princess Pink Metal Sheet, cut with Pretty Posies Die-namics, gently shaped the petals, and attached them with hot glue. To finish them off, I added some flat back pearls for the centers.

I love the dimension I got with the metal craft sheets, and the colors are gorgeous!!

NewReleaseCountdown_Day7

June is traditionally the wedding month and we have some awesome wedding/engagement/anniversary products in store for you this month. I’m using LJD Together Forever and Romantic Script Background for my first project today, which is a wedding card. I started with a Sweet Tooth card stock base, then cut the center from another piece of Sweet Tooth card stock with Oval STAX Die-namics. I then embossed it with Modern Moroccan Die-namics and my Die-namics Embossing Pad Combo. I trimmed that down a bit, layered it with some metallic gold card stock and popped it up on foam. On the next size smaller Oval STAX Die-namics die cut, I stamped Romantic Script Background with Grout Gray ink, then overstamped with Versamark and the sentiment from LJD Together Forever. I heat embossed with gold fine detail embossing powder and then adhered it to the metallic gold layer, leaving a narrow frame of gold around it. To finish it off, I added some Four Corners Die-namics filigree cut from metallic gold paper.

Another sentiment from LJD Together Forever was stamped on the inside with Steel Gray ink.

My second card today is an engagement card.

This one also started with a Sweet Tooth card stock base. On another piece of Sweet Tooth card stock I cut another die being released this month, Peek-a-Boo Heart Frames Die-namics. I stamped the sentiment, from LJD Together Forever, at the bottom with Steel Gray ink, trimmed it down, and popped it up on foam. I made an engagement ring by cutting some silver mirror card stock with two sizes of Circle STAX Die-namics and adding a faux gem for the diamond. I added a Leafy Flourish Die-namics cut from silver metallic card stock and three Mini Royal Roses Die-namics, cut from Bubblegum card stock, Razzle Berry card stock, and Paver Red card stock and adhered them all to the side of the heart.

Another sentiment from LJD Together Forever was stamped on the inside with Steel Gray ink.
