It’s a New Day

 

Hey, everyone! I’ve got a fun card for you today in honor of a fun announcement over at the MFT Blog. So when you’re done here, be sure to head over there to see what’s new in MFT Land. Additionally, just a reminder that tomorrow starts the May Release Countdown :)

I jotted down the rough idea for this card months ago and it’s been sitting on my desk waiting for me to get around to it. I finally did and I love how it turned out. I started by embossing Sun Ray Stencil with Versamark and yellow embossing powder. I would have stenciled ink had I been doing it on white card stock but I knew I’d end up with green sun rays if I did that on Sno Cone card stock, LOL! So, emboss I did. Then I cut the edge with Solid Skyline Die-namics and adhered it to a Sweet Tooth card stock base, the edge of which I cut the same way. It took a little precise measuring but it wasn’t too hard. Then I stamped the sentiment, from Clearly Sentimental About New Beginnings, on a cloud cut from Cloud Cover-Up Die-namics, with Black Licorice Hybrid ink and popped it up on foam. Two more clouds got the same treatment, then I went to the inside.

I cut Skyline Border Die-namics from Steel Gray card stock and Grout Gray card stock and lined them up to match the front cut out so when the card is closed it appears the skyline is on the front. Another sentiment from Clearly Sentimental About New Beginnings was stamped on the inside, as well.

You’re not old…you’re vintage–SSSC #218

Hey, there! It’s time for this week’s Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge! Karen has another great sketch for us this week—love the tilted panel!



My card started with a Primitive White card stock base, to which I added a piece of Kraft card stock. I stamped it randomly and partially, with Typewriter Text Background using Black Licorice Hybrid ink, then popped it up on foam. I added two Fishtail Flags STAX Die-namics die cuts to that—one stamped on Berrylicious card stock with Black Licorice ink and LJD Spring Backgrounds and for the other I used Striped Backgrounds with Fuse Green ink on Fuse Green card stock.

Next I cut a piece of Primitive White card stock with LLD Insert It – 3x4 Notebook Paper Die-namics and stamped it with Berrylicious ink with LLD Journal It – For the Record. Then I stamped it again with Steel Gray ink and LJD Art Expression Text and popped it up on foam. The typewriter from DC Just My Type was stamped on the coordinating Just My Type Die-namics die cut and popped up on foam, as well. Enamel dots finished it off.

Another sentiment from DC Just My Type was stamped on the inside.

Sunflower Birthday–C4C #234

Hi, everyone, and Happy May! WHERE is this year going??? I really can’t believe it’s MAY already!!!

I’m your host this month and I thought I’d continue the “April showers bring May flowers theme”—today I want you to use some flowers on your card or project. Easy peasy, right?

I started with a Sweet Tooth card stock base. Then I trimmed down another piece of Sweet Tooth card stock and, with my Mini Chicken Wire Stencil, spread some embossing paste and allowed it to dry. In the meantime, I stamped a piece of Kraft card stock with Wood Plank Background and Kraft Hybrid ink and adhered it to my base. When my embossing paste was dry, I popped it up on foam on the base. I cut a LJD Splendid Sunflower Die-namics from Sweet Tooth card stock and stamped it with LJD Splendid Sunflower using Kraft Hybrid ink, Hot Fudge Hybrid ink, and Lemon Drop Hybrid ink. The leaves were stamped with Gumdrop Green Hybrid ink and I added some shading to both with Copic markers

I popped the flower and leaves up on foam, and stamped the sentiment, from LJD Pretty Poppies, on a strip of Sweet Tooth card stock with Hot Fudge Hybrid ink and popped it up, as well.

The sentiment on the inside is also from LJD Pretty Poppies—I stamped half of the sentiment on the outside, half here on the inside.
