Sending You Sunshine - Crazy 4 Challenges #477

Hello and welcome to my last card as March Guest Designer for Crazy 4 Challenges! It’s been a challenge (a good thing) and so much fun in the process. Many thanks to C4C for having me back! For this last card the challenge is to make a card with some sort of trick or surprise element and since I’d been wanting to make a wiper card I decided this was the time.

So I checked out a couple of You Tube videos to get the hang of the mechanism and you can do that too, so I won’t go into the details on that, but here’s a little video showing the movement. So cute!




The sky was created with Mini Cloud Edges Stencil and Blue Breeze dye ink and I Grassy Hills Die-namics were used for the landscape. I added a bit of Dots & Stripes Bright Paper Pack to dress it up a bit.

The critters are from Wonderful Woodland Friends Stamp Set and Die-namics and the sun is from BB Magical Unicorns Stamp Set and Die-namics. Clear acetate card stock was used for part of the mechanism to raise the sun. The sentiment, from Full of Sunshine Stamp Set was heat embossed on Heavyweight Translucent Vellum and popped up on clear foam tape. Foam mounting tape was used for dimension and Puffy Clouds Die-namics finishes it off.

You Make My Life Magical - Crazy 4 Challenges #476

Hello and welcome to another Crazy 4 Challenges! This week the challenge is all about Harry Potter. Well, I don't know much about Harry so I was more than a little puzzled about what to do. So, as always, I did a little research and found that BB Cute Chemist Stamp Set and Die-namics would work just fine for this.

I started by stamping the image with Extreme Black hybrid ink, cut it out with the coordinating Die-namics, and colored it with Copic markers. I added some Nuvo Crystal Glaze to his glasses, the beakers, and his shoes and set it aside. For my background, I sponged, top to bottom, Blueberry and Blue Yonder dye inks on Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper and then stenciled Sweet Tooth pigment ink through Ray of Light Stencil over the ink. It's hard to see in this photo but it's there! Next I added Stitched Valley Die-namics cut from Gravel Gray card stock and Stitched Snowdrifts Die-namics--minus the stitching--cut from Steel Gray card stock with a heat embossed sentiment from BB Magical Dragons Stamp Set. Foam tape was used for dimension to adhere these elements.

Next I created a couple of Castle Die-namics towers, distressed them up with Gravel Gray dye ink, also popped up on foam tape. Then I popped little Harry up on foam tape and finished off with a moon and stars in the sky. The moon was cut from Lemon Chiffon card stock with Circle STAX Set 2 Die-namics and the stars were cut from Silver Sparkle card stock with Tag Builder Blueprints 6

I Miss Seaing You–Crazy 4 Challenges #475

Hello and welcome back to another Crazy 4 Challenges post! This week it’s sketch week and we have a classic design to play with,

Today I’m using a couple of products from Picket Fence Studios that they so generously gifted to me—I love this A Bottomless Sea Stamp Set that I used for my background and the adorable little I Am a Mermaid Stamp Set and coordinating dies. I began by heat embossing my background on Ranger Watercolor paper with white detail embossing powder then did a watercolor wash with Peerless Watercolors. I cut the two panels and popped them up on a white stock base. Then I stamped the mermaid and fishes on Copic paper with Copic friendly ink, cut them out with the coordinating dies, and colored them with Copic markers.

 
The sentiment was heat embossed on heavyweight vellum and adhered with clear foam tape, then I popped the images up on foam tape to finish off.

Birthday Wishes–Crazy 4 Challenges #474

Hello and welcome to a new Crazy 4 Challenges challenge! March 12th is Plant a Flower Day, for our challenge this week include a flower or flowers on your card. I can do that!

I hadn’t shown Stitched Blooms Die-namics or Stitched Flowers Die-namics any love for a while so I thought this was a perfect time to bring them out. I started with a Sweet Tooth Card Stock base then adhered some Watercolor Wash Brights Paper Pack to more Sweet Tooth card stock and popped it up on foam tape on the card base. Then I started cutting out flowers and leaves from Itsy Bitsy Polka Dots Paper Pack and assembled them until I had enough.

Once I had enough, I arranged and adhered them to the card front and added Birthday Wishes Die-namics cut from Gold Sparkle card stock and finished off with some enamel dots.

Let’s Have a Coffee Break–Crazy 4 Challenges #473

Hello there! I’m tickled to be Guest Designing for the Crazy for Challenges Blog again this month! March is Caffeine Awareness Month, so for our challenge this week is to create a Coffee themed card. I can do that!

I’m using MFT’s BB Friends at First Sip Stamp Set and Die-namics for my focal images. They were stamped on No Line Coloring Card Stock with Extreme Black Hybrid Ink, cut out with the coordinating Die-namics, and colored with Copic markers.

The sky was sponged with Blue Breeze dye ink using Mini Cloud Edges Stencil and a sponge dauber. Stitched Valley Die-namics were cut from Sour Apple card stock, Grassy Fields Die-namics from Gumdrop Green card stock, and the “pavement” from Cement Gray card stock. The sentiment was stamped with Extreme Black Hybrid Ink and foam tape was used for dimension.

Let the Adventure Begin–Crazy 4 Challenges #462

Hi, all and welcome to my final card as Guest Designer for the Crazy 4 Challenges Challenge! It’s been a ton of fun and I hope they’ll have me back again! Here’s this week’s challenge: “Last week, on the 17 th, it was Take a Hike Day. Be inspired by a hiking theme. You could create a scenic card or have one with hiking boots. Use your imagination to create a card related to hiking.”

OK, I have exactly zero stamp sets related to hiking so I did an outdoors-y design instead using MFT’s Beary Big Adventure Stamp Set and Die-namics. If was suggested to me that my sweet bear is taking a break from hiking—totally works for me, LOL!

I began by creating my sky background using Mini Cloud Edges Stencil and Blue Breeze dye ink and adhered it to a Sweet Tooth card stock base after stamping the sentiment. Then I added Snow-Capped Mountains Die-namics, minus the snow, and Grassy Edges Die-namics for the foreground.



The images were all stamped with Extreme Black hybrid ink on No Line Coloring Card Stock, cut out with the coordinating Die-namics, colored with Copic markers, and added to the scene. Foam tape was used for dimension.

Best Fishes for a Cool Holiday Season–Crazy 4 Challenges #461

Hi everyone, today I have another Crazy 4 Challenges card and this one’s a sketch. Love the classic design of this sketch.




I decided to create a little scene within the circle element so I cut the circle out of some Sweet Tooth card stock with Inside & Out Stitched Circle STAX Die-namics, stamped the sentiment from the recently released Beary Best Friends Stamps Set, and popped it up on some Ranger Watercolor paper on which I did a watercolor background. I adhered all that to a Sweet Tooth card stock base and proceeded.



The images were stamped with Extreme Black hybrid ink on No Line Coloring card stock, cut out with the coordinating Die-namics, colored with Copic markers, and popped up in the scene on foam tape. I added some Puffy Clouds and Icebergs Die-namics to complete the scene.

Noel–Crazy 4 Challenges #460

Hello there and welcome to another post as Guest Designer for the Crazy 4 Challenges Challenge! Today our hostess Joanne is challenging us to a true one-layer card:

November 15 is Use Less Stuff Day. In its honor I would like you to make a true one layer CAS card. The theme is up to you…..Thanksgiving, Christmas, birthday…..any theme.

I’m good with this, LOL!! I actually make one-layer cards occasionally so it’s really not a challenge for me. I know some folks really don’t like them but it’s good to stretch yourself every now and then, right?

I decided to create a serene and snowy scene with a simple sentiment for a Christmas card that would not be too hard to mass produce and it’s certainly mail friendly. When I do one layer cards I work on a separate panel of card stock and then adhere it to a card base—I find working directly on the card base leaves you with a flimsy card—this gives it more “body” and if you’re coloring you don’t have to worry about bleed-through.

I started by sponging my background using Drifts & Hills Stencil and Black Soot, Blueprint Sketch, Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean Distress Inks on Strathmore Bristol Smooth Paper. Since I started using Distress inks and this paper I am thrilled with my sponging outcomes. That paper blends like buttah, y’all!!



Then I stamped Modern Trees with Versamark and heat embossed with white detail embossing powder and then splattered the snow with slightly watered down Copic Opaque White. I added some shading to the tree trunks with a couple of Copic markers and then heat embossed the sentiment from Hand-Lettered Christmas with silver detail embossing powder, adhered the panel to the base and called it done!

Holly Jolly–Crazy 4 Challenges #459

Hey there and welcome to my first week of Guest Designing for the Crazy 4 Challenges Challenge! I was one of the original Design Team members and things got busy, I had to make some choices, and I had to bow out about a year and a half ago. I’m so thrilled to be playing with these ladies again—and we’re starting this month off with a challenge from this month’s hostess, Joanne Grzelak. Her challenge is this:

During the fall and spring seasons, leaves are all around us. In the fall they are falling, colorful, and becoming a carpet on the ground. In the spring, the new leaves are sprouting from the trees. Make a card in which the only images are leaves. It does not have to be in autumn colors.

I’d had in the back of my mind for a while and this is a perfect time to use it—a holly leaf wreath using images from MFT’s Tweet Holidays Stamp Set and Die-namics. I started by heat embossing the sentiment from Hand Lettered Holidays in the center with gold detail embossing powder then circled it with greenery images from Hand-Lettered Holiday Greetings for a base. Then I stamped a bunch of holly leaves, cut them out with the coordinating Die-namics, and colored them with Copic markers.



I tied some gold cord around that panel and popped it up on the card base with foam tape then added the colored holly leaves interspersed with Fab Foliage Die-namics cut from Gold Shine card stock. Once that was done the card was pretty much done.

Sending Sunshine and Rainbows–C4C #373

Hi, everyone! Welcome to another Crazy 4 Challenges! Today is sketch day and Tammy has a fun and classic sketch for us to play with.




I went a little off script but you’re used to that and I think the sketch is pretty obvious nonetheless ;-) I sponged some clouds on Sweet Tooth card stock with Blue Breeze dye ink using a Stitched Cloud Edges Die-namics die cut as a template and popped it up on foam mounting tape on a Sweet Tooth card stock base. I added End of the Rainbow Die-namics cut from Sweet Tooth card stock and colored with Copic markers. Tip: this is a good way to conserve card stock if you’re a stickler for the ROYGBP rainbow configuration as I am.



Next I added Sunny Skies Die-namics cut from Sunshine card stock and the sentiment from Rainbow Greetings stamped on the cloud from End of the Rainbow Die-namics as the horizontal element. I love how this turned out!
